A Lechuza Encounter with Lanie of It's Haunted What Now

A Lechuza Encounter with Lanie of It's Haunted What Now

According to Legend, the Lechuza is a witch that shapeshifts into a giant owl. On this episode, Cristna and MJ share Lechuza encounters from Reddit and they apologize ahead of time for Cristina's second story, that was a mess. Guest Lanie shares her terrifying personal stories and they all laugh a little too much. First, they share a listener story.

[00:00:00] Hi, everyone. This is Cristina. And this is MJ. And this is another episode of Espooky Tales. Today we have an amazing special special guest. I'm so excited. Do you want to say hi to everyone? Tell us about your podcast and how awesome you are. Sure. Thank you.

[00:00:22] Well, I'm Lanie Hoggs. I'm the host of I'll go with the paranormal one first. I always introduce my true crime one first. But my paranormal show is called It's Haunted What Now? And it's where I share the spooky tales that are submitted to me by listeners.

[00:00:37] And then I have a true crime podcast called True Crime Cases with Lanie and I am also the co founder of the True Crime and Paranormal Podcast Festival. I think that's all I do. What does she not do? Right? I don't have a video podcast.

[00:00:54] I mean, like neither do we except for episodes. It's just Carmen and no MJ then I will throw those on YouTube. But other than that, no, we don't record video because it's too much work. It's too much work. It's terrible. So it is rough. It is rough.

[00:01:08] It's rough out here for all of us for editors. Yeah. But yeah, very excited to have you here. Everyone needs to check out both of the podcast. I will link them in the show notes as well.

[00:01:21] And we have let's choose our stories and then whatever else Lanie wants to share with us. But first, I do have a listener story. If you have a story that you want to send into the podcast, you can email spookytales at gmail.com.

[00:01:36] You can DM us on any of our socials. You can submit it on Discord, which is what this listener did. You can call the spooky hotline again. I don't know the number, but it's in the show notes. I don't know that I'll ever memorize it.

[00:01:47] I don't think so. I was like get a tattoo of it. I know, right? I should. I have so many meaningless tattoos. People are like what does that mean? And I'm like literally nothing. It's just a flower. It's just I thought it was cute. I followed the dopamine.

[00:02:04] Right. I have another one that's so unserious. It's just you know the movie, We're the Millers? Yeah. When the guy is like no regrets and then he's like not even one letter. So I have like a little tombstone and it says no ragrets.

[00:02:19] Like with the A, not an E. Okay. I love that though. This is like my meaningless arm. So I have like a bunch of randos on there. Love it. Love it. Recently got a little UFO. Love that.

[00:02:34] In line with this spooky, that's where you should put the number. It should beam down from the UFO and then you can put the number there. Oh, you're so smart. I'm gonna do that. Genius. Wow. Hit me up for your tattoo ideas.

[00:02:47] I was gonna say on top of podcast extraordinaire tattoo idea giver. Yeah, that's not a word but whatever. Tattoo advisor. Yeah. I'll be like do it. Do it. So yes, listener story. You can send it in all the places that I mentioned. So here it goes.

[00:03:06] My parents are immigrants so growing up we couldn't afford a place of our own. We would always be renting a room from other family or friends. When I was 10 we were finally approved for family housing. We were able to find a two bed one bath apartment.

[00:03:20] It wasn't the nicest place but we were finally living alone. My parents in one room and my brother, sister and myself all shared the other room. Now my sister was around five and my brother was eight. And we had always shared a room and had no issues ever.

[00:03:35] My sister started sleep talking and it was usually stuff having to do with playing video games or playing outside. Nothing creepy. I would always tell my mom that she was sleep talking. My mom was like it's fine. It's probably the move. She's stressed. She's just talking.

[00:03:50] So my sister would wake me up with her sleep talking in the middle of the night. The other thing that would wake me up was the bathroom sink faucet. It would turn on and run for a good 20 to 30 minutes.

[00:04:00] I was scared of the dark and I was not going to get up and look in the bathroom. I get it. I wouldn't have either. Yeah, hard pass.

[00:04:11] I would tell my mom the sink turns on by itself and she would just tell me that I was just tired. My siblings and I were playing in the living room and I saw a shadow pass by like if someone had walked behind me.

[00:04:23] I was playing with my back against the wall. I went to tell my mom and she said that she had been seeing shadows too. She said she had talked to my daughter already about the shadows and about the TV and radio turning on by themselves.

[00:04:35] My sister was still sleep talking but one day I was sleeping and felt something on my face. I woke up and my sister had her blanket over my face and was just standing over me. Not your sister trying to kill you. No, no, not this. Oh my God.

[00:04:52] Is she sleep talking mom? Or is she homicidal? Yeah, now she's sleep murdering. Whoa. When I woke up, she just went back to her bed. I ran to my parents and told them she tried to kill me. So, okay, so she didn't try to kill her.

[00:05:10] She read she wrote she didn't I was just a dramatic child. I don't know girl. That sounds like a murder to me. Your sister trying to kill you. That's what I thought too. Right? So they came to check on my sister and she was sound asleep.

[00:05:25] My mom was like just go back to sleep a different day. I was walking down the hall and saw my parents TV on but it was just static. I went into the room to turn it off as I got closer.

[00:05:35] I saw a knife on top of the TV. I grabbed it and took it to the kitchen. My mom was in there. So I gave her the knife. I told her it was on top of her TV.

[00:05:45] She said my dad had been looking for it because it was the one he took in his lunchbox. My dad didn't believe anything that my mom or me would tell him until until there's always a until until one day the TV turned on while he was reading.

[00:06:01] My parents went to one of their priest friends and had him come and bless the house and place holy water in bottles around the house.

[00:06:10] Everything that we had been seeing the shadow people the TV radio turning on and off the faucets and my sister sleep talking slash walking slash murdering. Sorry, I added that that wasn't there. It all stopped. The end. I don't know about any of that.

[00:06:28] I like how the mom's like you're just you're just tired. You're just stressing me out. You're all like so I've been seeing those shadows too. And I'd be like, I guess you're just tired, mom. Yeah, right. At one point, she couldn't deny it anymore.

[00:06:44] She's like, you know what? I've been seeing them too. That's so weird. And also I'm thinking like why aren't you concerned that your water is going on for 20 or 30 minutes? I'm like with the state that we're in with utilities, I'd be like ghost, you're charging me money.

[00:06:58] Like you need to turn it off. You got to pay either pay for how much water you're using or turn it off. Exactly. That's crazy.

[00:07:07] I wonder if the sister like ever had dreams that she was doing this stuff because you know, sometimes even when you're like sleepwalking or I don't know if you guys know this if you've never done it.

[00:07:18] But like I talk in my sleep sometimes and I'll have like a full fledged conversation. And I remember that I did that, but not to the person I was talking to like in the real world, like my husband or something.

[00:07:30] It'll be like, yeah, I was talking to this person. He was like, I know you were asking like what happens if we don't do the DNA or whatever? Obviously, I was researching a case.

[00:07:40] So I was like, I don't know why I'm talking about DNA and like what will happen if we don't do the DNA? I remember it, but I don't like I'm wondering if her sister remembers trying to unalive her, you know, trying to keep her family friendly here.

[00:07:57] Or if she was no need we say, no, I know. We say things all the time, you know, but I wonder if she was just like in her dream, like trying to kill someone else. Right. And it wasn't her sister. Yeah.

[00:08:11] She didn't do a good job either. I mean, she just put a blanket over them. That's good though. That's good. Maybe she was just trying to tuck her in. Actually, right. Maybe that was it. She looked a little bit cold. Yeah. Now that was interesting.

[00:08:24] That's kind of freaky. I don't know what I would do if I like heard it in real time. Like I'm sleeping in bed. My faucets going off. I would be frozen, I think, in fear. You'd be pissed. You'd be like, you woke me up for this.

[00:08:40] I'd be like, I have to get up. I have to get up. Like it's it's two o'clock. I'm comfortable. I'm warm. I have to get up. I'll be honest. I would not have heard it. I would have kept sleeping. Yeah, I would have just kept sleeping.

[00:08:55] You cannot penetrate me. Yeah. Once I'm asleep, it's done. I hear nothing except except when my kids were like really small and like you hear them crying. You automatically get up. I don't know how I did that.

[00:09:07] I actually was scared that I was not going to get up and they were just going to starve and like, I don't know. Wait, so did you guys ever when you since we're all moms here? Did you have the baby scream when you're in your in the shower?

[00:09:19] Like, did you always hear? I still yeah, I still think someone is calling me. Yeah. I hear that. Yeah. Taking a bath and I'm like. Is she like no, dude, I know she's with my husband or whatever.

[00:09:33] She's with her dad and I still swear I hear her like mom or something. Yeah. I'm like, I've gone out of the shower and I'm like, are you guys did you guys call me? And they're like, no. Oh, OK. I don't know.

[00:09:46] But yeah, I'm like, damn, I guess I'll just keep showering. My bad. Right. I came out here running thinking you guys were dying. Wow. Forget you then. Yeah. Fuck you guys. That's weird. I was wondering, I was like, does it stop because I'd like to enjoy a shower.

[00:10:03] Listen, my kids are older. My kids are like, well, my oldest is about to be he's 12. He's about to be 13 next year. And no, it doesn't stop. Not for me anyway. Damn. Yeah. Yeah. Mine are only five and two. Actually, not even five yet. Four and two still.

[00:10:20] And I'm like, I don't know. Yeah. That's crazy. That's nuts. Yeah. I don't know. I'll let you know if it stops once my eldest is in high school. I'll be like, lady, 15, 15. That's the magic number. Like, cool. I'll never enjoy a bath again. No, there's 30. It still happens.

[00:10:41] Oh, my God. Imagine. So, yeah, let's just have stories. How many do you have MJ? The one I have the one. Let's see. I found. Damn. Can you hear me screaming children? Oh, is that you? I thought that was mine. I was like, oh, my God. It's OK.

[00:11:02] I'm just saying whatever. Sometimes people think they're like ghosts in the background. And I'm like, yeah, yeah, it was ghost. I feel like the best place for like personal stories is always read it. So minor from Reddit today. Normally we don't just pick things up from Reddit.

[00:11:14] But today we have. So my first one is it was uploaded 158 days ago. It's so weird that they just didn't do it like in weeks or months. Whatever. Yeah. I don't know. It's not like I'm going to be like, oh, my God, I'm going to be like,

[00:11:28] I'm going to be like, I'm going to be like, I'm going to be like, I'm going to be like, I'm going to be like, I'm going to be like, I'm going to be like, Oh, my God. It's been a year. It's not a year, right? How many?

[00:11:39] No, no. Because a year is 300 something two hundred. Yeah, I sound so dumb right now. I'm just I'm just talking to cut. Not yeah. So, yeah, from the paranormal subreddit and it was uploaded by user skit. So 1031. Interesting name.

[00:11:59] Was never going to share this but I happened across a post the other day that really shook me and I'm hoping for more information This happened a few months ago. I live in Wisconsin

[00:12:09] Wisconsin are they the ones who say bag big? Yeah, don't they say it was cancer Tampon Tampon I need a tampon from my big head of teeth is that is that the same place where they put the R in Washington Washington

[00:12:26] They like Washington and Washington, I don't know I had a teacher I had a teacher in Modesto who said Fucking California right now It was a math teacher Yeah, really yeah, this was a math teacher who was I don't know

[00:12:45] I feel like only the ghetto schools had like the trailers way out in the back where you had to run from I Just literally three or four trailers in the back and that's where that math teacher was and he always said, Washington

[00:13:07] Washington no, I don't know my my grandmother-in-law is from East Texas So she's like warsh and I was like, that's the only people I okay Maybe it's just like a old white people thing then could be like they just turned 65 one day and they just

[00:13:27] Stop saying wash and we're going with worse. I think so. That sounds right In your next episode Congratulations, I'm not apologizing for that. Okay I'm sorry. I don't care Also kudos to you guys for doing that. I thought that was so nice Like

[00:13:48] Accountability thing that you didn't have to do and you didn't because I'm the same way I don't publish like shitty comments from Spotify. Somebody like wrote a shitty one. I was like, haha deny bitch It's only the positive from here and I get to pick which ones

[00:14:04] Even though you didn't publish it that you did, you know bring it up and we're like, hey So you acknowledge them? Because I'm sure they had fair points or whatever

[00:14:12] But how most people are cuz reviews aren't for you really like they're for other people. So I always read reviews I don't ever say they're not meant for me. They're meant. Yeah For others, so I don't ever take them to heart. So yeah

[00:14:25] Yeah, I feel necessary and did so great job. I appreciate that. Thank you. I was a little myself of a spooky tales Thank you. Thank you Yes back to Wisconsin. I'm not sure that they're the ones to say Washington

[00:14:39] I don't know how this happened, but let's go on with this Okay, so I live in Wisconsin just outside of Milwaukee So still pretty urban slash suburban, but we've got quite a few Bigfoot believers up north I'm currently living in my old childhood house

[00:14:55] There's miles of woods behind it and I played in them alone all the time from a truly inappropriate young age Nothing overly weird. I'm old enough now that I like to pregame bedtime with an evening nap Love it Mostly to keep from saying I'm going to bed at 7

[00:15:15] But I'll get up a little from 10 to midnight or so and finish my day One night. I really overshot it and woke up around a quarter to 3 a.m Oh, I'm taking my dog outside and listening to the family of owls that nest by the woods

[00:15:32] But he's just staring at the darkness and growling now We get raccoons Coyotes all the normal stuff coming out at night. He's only done this a couple times in his life But my mind still jumps to normal as a woman living alone, though

[00:15:47] It's worth paying attention to but then I hear a sound to my ear It sounds like me more specifically a tiny me Calling my brother's name in this stupid way. I used to do when I was really little Consciously I think wow

[00:16:06] I definitely misheard that what a weird thought to bring up and I set out trying to figure out what possible thing I could have heard that could in any way be Misconstrued as little girls voice from the dark at 3 a.m

[00:16:19] Leaves some weird bird, but I'm standing there and the undercurrent of weird starts playing underneath My grown adult thoughts Wow is this person an awful author? Why can't I say that word? That was a poetic sentence Beautiful beautifully written write a book, please

[00:16:37] What about all those skinwalker stories? Oh, I didn't know that word. Oh god. I'm sorry. I don't like saying it But you're supposed to hear your loved ones calling your name not your voice from 30 years ago calling their name, right?

[00:16:50] Which led to a chilling thought of just how long something had to be back there watching me to come up with that sound But overall my illogic was sound I still haven't moved my puppy hasn't stopped growling Then the owls hoot again

[00:17:06] The most basic owl sound ever followed immediately by this deep sort of masculine human ish voice mocking them who It was non-human enough that rather than confirming there was a creepy dude in my forest it confirmed the opposite

[00:17:24] I said nope out loud turned and walked casually back into the house Pulling my dog with me Once he was safely inside. I grabbed two of the biggest industrial flashlights I had and went right back out

[00:17:39] Okay, Wow brave brave as fuck cuz I would have stayed inside lock everything hit under my covers Here's where I'm dying, I guess and died I Must shame to admit I chickened out about 10 feet out the door. I'm just amazed that you went outside Yeah, wow for that

[00:17:58] silly dumb decision No judgment, but right don't know judgment we are judging critically analyzing. Mm-hmm. Yo, you're right. Yeah The analysis said it was done Yeah You just check I chose life and just went back inside locked all the doors got my gun yada yada

[00:18:27] Now I've been a nightwalker my whole life and I can count on one hand the number of times I bumped into another one, but eventually I decided the neighbors 18 year old must have been out at 3 a.m

[00:18:38] Having a joint in the woods or something and decided to scare the crap out of me theory held up solid until I read on Here the other day that multiple people have stories about something imitating an owl

[00:18:50] Someone said that baby owls make that sound because they haven't learned to hoot properly yet I've listened to that owl family for years and never heard that but I spent a lot of time researching baby owl sounds hoping that was

[00:19:02] The answer here. All I could find was videos of them screeching a very creepy sound but nothing like what I heard Cuz someone confirmed either way, please Nine out of ten love living alone, but this is kind of throwing a wrench into my lifestyle here

[00:19:18] And so the comments mentioned a lot of like oh, it's probably a Thing that I will not name that shape shifts and is evil right dermis mover an epidermis. Yes Yes But then a couple comments were like nah fam that was a little sir, right

[00:19:40] And she didn't cuss it out either. She was like God. Where are you? At least you didn't whistle one Well, you know that reminds me because it's when she was talking about it being It's sounding like her old voice or whatever when she was younger

[00:19:56] So, I don't know if you guys have ever heard of a mimic before like they're super known and like yeah Appalachian or whatever and that's exactly what I was thinking I was like that sounds like a mimic like it's trying to like it's that Appalachian. Hey

[00:20:10] Hey thing, you know that they do like That people have recorded. Yeah, and I'm like, yeah freaky as hell dude, first of all pass. No, thank you And then especially walking at night psychotic. That's all I have to say is like, what are you doing hard pass?

[00:20:26] Yeah, could it be me not ever couldn't I'll be like I'm you're peeing in the house I don't know what you're doing, but you're not peeing outside where I have to you're learning to use the toilet

[00:20:38] So I'm like if you're barking or you're growling at something I don't need something there Yeah, I need a retreat and then not go get a utility flashlight and be like god. I wonder what's out here

[00:20:50] Yeah, but paranormal like things aside was there's like some kind of like wild Something like an animal that's dangerous dangerous. I'm like you're outside being like, huh? What is that? Like get your butt in there. It could be a mountain lion. It could be something like Stay inside

[00:21:08] Like yeah, even if you have your gun or whatever, which you know gun-free zone over here but still like even if you had it you need to I Don't see the point of going and looking but I get the curiosity it could never be me

[00:21:23] Yeah, like I would understand grabbing my gun and still staying inside I still wouldn't I watch you on CCTV footage like I watch you go out and be like this is how movies This is how it happens. I would never be following you

[00:21:36] Yeah, I'd be the friend inside being like I'll hear your screams of death and know that it's not my time Plan your funeral I will be doing the eulogy or whatever. You know, I like speech and I told her so so I

[00:22:09] Don't know it doesn't sound like a little to said to me but I Get where people could get it. I guess it sounds more like a mimic or whatever Yeah, I don't know like how real what you says are for anybody who's not

[00:22:21] True cuz this was up in Wisconsin, right? Yeah I mean, I'm sure they can follow you but like if you don't believe or know about it I can't imagine that it could happen to you, right? I think it's only possible if you believe in it

[00:22:34] Yeah, and then like the ones that I like the let you see stories when they talk be like there other people's voices Yeah, never your own. Yeah, yeah, and they're like oftentimes like even or talking shit to you Yeah, laughing in your face, yeah

[00:22:51] Your face and talking shit and that I don't know. Yeah, I agree. I think it's a mimic Okay I was like, you know what? I'm in disguise today. I heard about my homies

[00:23:04] I'll be like I call you. I heard what you were saying about me. I know you sent this out I don't like you either The truth comes out and it was really a let you so I'd be like, oh shit my bad

[00:23:21] So, yeah, I mean I feel like mimic more so than anything yeah or shitty 18 year old getting high Sure, that is the second voice but not the first voice. Yeah, that's what yeah Yeah, it's certainly it's a strange story

[00:23:36] So how many how many a spooky's on the tale of a spooky's like out of five is spooky's how many is spooky's do you? Give that being paranormal Five yeah, okay. Yeah. Okay. I just created your new rating system so you can keep it going for future. Yeah

[00:23:56] Yeah, I'll transfer you a dollar every time we say it You and knowing you guys you won't ever say it again because you always talk about your ADHD You're like, I don't know if I don't yeah, I'm so used to this being my life

[00:24:10] My husband is severe ADHD and I'm like I have I can tell when people don't take their medicine And he gets offended he's like I don't like that, you know when I don't take my meds and I was like me either

[00:24:27] Offensive to me when I start trying to pour my coffee into like a cup That's not there. My husband's like have you taking your meds and my bitch? What are you trying to insinuate here? Changing environment I can't deal with this. Hello. It's called trauma Oh

[00:24:59] Yep, yeah, so yeah, okay five. Yeah, we will forget Like everybody write in and tell them to do a spooky Okay, so I have the next story and disclaimer before you read it

[00:25:19] I have shared this on tik-tok, but not on the podcast because not everybody that listens true the audience doesn't translate sometimes and There's an update that I didn't know about when I shared it on to come. So yeah, go ahead

[00:25:34] I feel like you were about to say that and I could I would So no, not yet We are yeah every episodes arrived though, yeah It's fun though Okay, so this is in the subreddit scary stories and it's by user kanachi underscore 2020 and It's titled la lechuza

[00:26:03] Parentheses the owl which a true story goes on to say this is a true story by my mom and how I almost fell victim To la lechuza this happened when I was only a few weeks old and my mother decided to go to Monterey, Mexico

[00:26:15] To show me to her family who lives there when we got there My mother told me that her family decided to have a big party to celebrate our arrival

[00:26:23] She explained how everyone wanted to hold me and shower me with gifts as I was the first child of my mother When it was over my grandmother took my mom and I to the guest bedroom Where we would be sleeping in my grandma bought an old-school

[00:26:36] Bassinet for me to sleep in while my mother slept in a bed on the other side of the room My mom put me in the bassinet and put two small pillows beside me because she was afraid of me

[00:26:46] Accidentally bumping my head as we got settled my grandma's Rottweiler named Rocky Rocky yeah, Rocky Came in he didn't want to leave so he stayed in her room since he was relatively a gentle dog It was very hot that night

[00:27:03] So to let some air in my mom opened a sliding glass door that led to a balcony We were on the second floor so she felt safe leaving it open soon after she got settled in and went to sleep

[00:27:14] It was around 3 a.m. When my mom awoke from the loud growls and barks of Rocky It was strange to her because he had never acted this way. He was relatively quiet and gentle dog

[00:27:26] So this was alarming to her. She then heard me crying and rushed to my aid She left shocked and speechless to what she could make out in the dark I was flipped on my stomach face down on the mattress

[00:27:39] She immediately ran to pick me up and turned her attention to Rocky who was still growling and barking uncontrollably She looked up at the balcony inside. She explained the creature as the ugliest most

[00:27:50] Gigantic owl she had ever seen before its mouths and wings were wide open and its feathers were black as coal Rocky ran to the balcony as an attempt to catch it, but the owl quickly flew away into the darkness

[00:28:03] My grandma quickly came into the room after hearing the commotion he came to check on us he found my mother in the middle of the room on the floor holding me like if she was shielding me and

[00:28:13] Rocky barking by the balcony into the sky. My mother found a scratch on my leg She also noticed that the pillows that she had used to keep my head in place were on the other side of the room as if They were tossed out of the way

[00:28:27] Today my mother tells me that I survived an attempt from Lala Chusa Mexican legend says that Lala Chusa is a creature specifically a witch who sold her soul to the devil in exchange for power giving her the ability to transform into a monster a

[00:28:41] Giant owl it is said that the little juice that goes to hunt at night for any potential victims like animals and drunk people But more preferably she loves to hunt for children children to snack and take back to her hunt in the mouth her hut in the mountains

[00:29:04] Where she would devour them or sacrifice whenever I go visit my family. They always call me let you see that as a Surviving a let you attack and not being your nickname forever My god the remembrance for surviving the lettuce

[00:29:33] The real hero the real hero here though is my grandma's dog true that shout out Rocky. Yeah, good boy. Good boy He's the one who's oh my god, I can stop laughing I'm trying to read We're not making fun of you we love you He's the one who's

[00:30:01] From doing anything else and chasing it away if it weren't for him. I don't know what else could have happened Sadly, he passed away this year I couldn't get to see him beforehand as I lived in the US But I'll always remember him as a hero

[00:30:12] My mother bought Rocky at least ten bags of treats for protecting us that night the day after the incident by the way I'm 17 years old today And I still have a small scar on my leg the same place where mom told me the owl had scratched me though

[00:30:26] I know logically that it could have been just a regular oddly gigantic out It doesn't explain why it would have come in the house Yeah picked up and tossed the pillows beside me and leave me face planted and With a small scratch that never healed properly

[00:30:41] So now this is the update says update this I have not heard it's May of 2023 now I have noticed many people telling you telling my story on different social medias and that's so cool

[00:30:52] Just leaving this update here to let people know that they can tell my story if they want to I just ask that you mentioned My at please Oops. Oh, no, I did I did. Yes, we did and on tick-tock I did too

[00:31:05] I put a screenshot and it's there so we're good I've also updated my spelling errors since I was not the best double checker back then Also an update on the story as well I mentioned this story to my mother again recently and she has corrected me

[00:31:18] With one part of the story and it's creepy My mother had heard me crying and ran to my aid, but she could not see that Well in the dark, but she told me that Lala Chuza was not perched on the balcony railing

[00:31:28] I had misheard her the first time she told me the story. It was not perched on the balcony railing It was perched on the bassinet Opposite side of where she was standing staring at her with its wings out and mouth wide open

[00:31:43] You're stepping back from my god. Mm-hmm. It's even worse. Yeah, it got worse the story got worse After stepping back from the startle with me in her arms My mom said that Rocky had actually lunch at the creature knocked over the bassinet

[00:31:56] Lala Chuza flew on to the balcony railing but as rocking continued to chase it is it escaped into the night sky? That was the update Was so much worse, yeah, that's creepy. That's a five a spooky for me Yeah, that's You

[00:33:51] Breakdown of what the lettuce I is because I'm like we started this episode right away assuming everyone knew what a lettuce I was Yeah, google it and for the most part I do believe everybody listening knows what it is

[00:34:01] And we have a whole episode covering the legend of Lala true style origin story like why how it became Lala true sound right? Yeah, go back and listen to that. But wow, this is it. Yeah that update was Horrifying that's creepy. That's terrifying. That's even worse

[00:34:19] Yes, especially cuz like I'm thinking about that like truly I'm so close to just postpartum I'm like I could never imagine cuz you get so like crazy about your kid and their safety and stuff

[00:34:30] Yeah, that would kill me if that yeah. Oh my gosh, that's terrifying. See this is why can I go to Mexico? Their sightings here in the United States, I know they're here I was like just forget it I can't go anywhere

[00:34:44] Oh my god. Yeah, that's terrifying. What a creepy update and also thanks for the update like Yeah, thank you for the update Wow Wow, yeah and Jokey excellent food. Nice. R.i.p R.i.p. Mickey Mickey and little doggie heaven eating all the snacky snacks

[00:35:04] Yeah, he's definitely in doggy heaven for sure. Yeah, all dogs go to heaven like that movie. So He's like the guard of the bridge he's like yeah, yeah come in

[00:35:17] He let everybody in but still he's yeah, that's crazy you I didn't like that I got goosebumps on that one That was wild Wow Yeah, um, do either of you listen to and that's why we drink yes, they're my faves a couple weeks ago

[00:35:35] We're maybe three now em covered the lettuce on and I get it if you're not Mexican I think it sounds so silly. It does. Yeah, it does but to us it's like, oh my god, that was so horrifying

[00:35:47] Yes. Yes. I text them when they did that and I was like you could have just talked to me Everything I would have told you everything about it But you know disconnected from that because they don't have any connection to it from a culture perspective, right?

[00:36:02] Like it's it's interesting to see other people who aren't connected to the culture like try and comprehend Folklore and comprehend like any type of story like that that has to do with kind of the belief in the supernatural

[00:36:17] Because I think you've mentioned it several times on the show. Like there's this balance that Now I only speak from the perspective of a Mexican because that's what I am and that's who I know from my culture perspective

[00:36:29] But like there's a balance of your faith like right if you're Catholic or whatever Like your faith in all of that and then the belief in the supernatural because you can go to church every Sunday

[00:36:42] But you for sure are gonna go to like a good on that hour could on that all to do whatever. Yeah done They're like, yeah, only I think it's interesting that they believe in this higher power, right?

[00:36:53] For if you're on the Catholic side, it's gonna be Jesus, right? To heal and do everything to do all but I find it interesting that they're also going to like good on that As to do the other stuff and I'm like, but if he does it all

[00:37:07] Why do you need to go there right for extra, you know never hurts Yeah No I was like I think it demonstrates that there's there's kind of a waiver in their faith to like it despite how faithful they can be like they

[00:37:19] Will always go and seek alternative methods for healing and I think that's so interesting There was a term that I recently came across and I can't remember but I was um I got a few books on

[00:37:32] Kuran derismo, you know from from Mexico. There was a term and I can't remember what it's called. It's that car folk Mexican Catholicism, that's what it was. Oh my god, that's perfect

[00:37:44] And I came across this term and I can't remember so whoever the the person who wrote it Was that I can't remember which book it was because I have a few of them on Mexican healing practices and Mexican Folk

[00:38:00] Magic and all this stuff. So I don't remember who exactly yeah, but whoever did brilliant because that is such a On the nose description on what a lot of Mexican beliefs are which is folk. Yeah

[00:38:15] Mexican Catholicism. Yeah. I mean, I just googled it and truly everybody's like that's the same thing everybody's saying folk Catholicism ethnic expressions of Catholicism intermingled with aspects of folk religion. Yes

[00:38:29] And it's it's so on point. Yeah, that's how that's how I grew up too. Yeah same. Yeah same Shout out to us and our parents Yeah, but that's why I was like listening to their episode and I was like I could see how it sounds so silly

[00:38:45] Oh, yeah anyone who's now part of like the culture and doesn't know the stories. Yes Well for sure, yeah, yeah cuz it was like you're afraid of an owl like come on and I have a friend like my best friend she's

[00:38:58] Part on Duran right and she doesn't get it. She loves out She's like, I don't understand why you're why you hate them so much and I was like you wouldn't and you know It's a funny thing too is like in

[00:39:11] European culture owls are seen as familiars to witches. Yeah Yeah, and you know there is a lot of like I think part of it has to do with colonization

[00:39:22] Which we mentioned in that first episode that we did I was used to be like sure they were messengers of death and some like I think it was like Meshuggah folklore. Mm-hmm For the most part. I don't think they were like a sphere

[00:39:34] Same thing with like witches and like yeah at some point There's a turning point for them where they come from respected to feared And everything yeah, it's always one of those what those villain era stories or whatever your origin story It's like that one. Which yeah

[00:39:51] And made it bad for everybody else. Yeah It's like that and also like to point out that like a lot of what in other parts of the world would be considered UFOs in Mexican Folk beliefs it's which the fireballs that people see sometimes. Yeah are not UFOs

[00:40:13] Aliens, they're seen as witches. Yeah. Yeah devil dots Mm-hmm This was submitted to the no sleep subreddit and it was by user let you stand 92 1992 that's my year of birth first year 1892. Yes Did it say yeah, I need to or 1992

[00:40:42] You were born in 1992 I was yeah damn, okay Thanks, that's how I feel when I hear about people born in 2000 I'm like down Yeah, I know We're all in our Senora eras I actually have a sweater that I bought from a tick-tock shop. I think it's the shoppers

[00:41:12] I posted on Instagram my other sweater from them That's the Nia Diaz. I think is a shop but it says in my spooky Senora era is the what it says Yeah, I'll send you the link or else I do that's a car, you know

[00:41:31] And I do it all the time Okay So yes, this was literally to and it was posted seven years ago and I read it and I was like This is so creepy. So

[00:41:42] My girlfriend drowned last week. Yes, and yeah, I like to sleep around before we met. No, that's not true That's not how she told it what she said. I like to fuck around Okay, get it Queen Like wait, are we

[00:41:59] Is this a mighty asshole I don't know anymore Imagine opening a story like that. My girlfriend drowned last week, but she was a hoe That's what she said I didn't say it, she said it. She owned it. She was like I love this

[00:42:21] We're gonna have to message this let you send 92 and be like we let's talk about an opener That's funny, okay She said I like to fuck around I

[00:42:39] Can't read this. Okay, she said she never really romanticized the idea that she was never taught that love and sex were comparable or Mutually inclusive she enjoyed sex but never cared for the people

[00:42:50] She chose to partner with her any more than she did for someone that held an elevator door for her She appreciated them in the same way. Okay, very transactional. Okay Okay, if she wanted release she would simply Like is this fantasy fiction

[00:43:22] So well into your episode is inspired to write this story I know All right, I'm gonna try and get through this okay if she wanted to release she was simply kiss Okay, all right, all right, I'm gonna restart this

[00:43:47] Serious mode now if she wanted to release she would simply kiss her mother Goodbye and head down to Mexico City to visit her aunt. Wait, if she wanted a release of what? Like Bye mom She does kiss her mother with that mouth I

[00:44:20] Don't know why this does get creepy I swear She'd meet someone there Maybe some gringo guy just passing through on business She says she saw her lovers and herself as moths dancing around a light of passion together in the night

[00:44:38] But but going to their separate sunlight corners went Oh My god, okay But going to their separate sunlit corners when the night rang to a close Perhaps to meet again, perhaps not but never to stay together This is in candle

[00:45:23] That's why she never took lovers close to home everyone in her town saw her as the unattainable prude I'm sorry prude Opposite of a prude. Yeah. Oh, that's what they don't know. They don't know in her

[00:45:37] Okay, her Mexico City exploits were secrets for her alone. The boys chased her desperate to have her conquer her They were angry and tried to be cruel when they couldn't but she refused to be conquered by them or made small by their rumors

[00:45:51] When we met the Sun was bold and hot and she was a blooming sunflower in radiant colors Her father thin and cotton and sweeping the ground

[00:46:07] Sweeping the ground was a bright green her I'm gonna read this normal now her off the shoulder shirt was bright yellow her floppy Black hat shaded her soft skin. Her eyes were covered by huge bug-eyed sunglasses

[00:46:21] Her lips are painted bright red. I was in jeans and a loose black t-shirt I was helping out around the hotel. My uncle owned I help him during the summer tourist season, but it'd been a slow summer

[00:46:33] So there wasn't much to do. I was done cleaning and leaning against the wall checking my phone when she approached She's saying Hmm, that's a weird to just walk up to someone thinking. I don't know. I don't know how to flirt either So maybe people do this Maybe

[00:47:04] My god, okay She's saying her voice was a lift a Lifting a lulling a lift a little Lilting lilting you don't know this word I've never seen this word

[00:47:27] Oh speak sing or sound with a lilt. Well, what the hell is a lilt? It's like this. Oh, I'm songy voice Okay That was her song yes Doing this Get her wings ready and then he was like smash Yeah, I guess yeah

[00:47:56] Well, wow, okay, I guess this is how you get a boyfriend That's how you do it. I don't know if she's a little shy yet, but if I don't know If I ever get divorced, I'm gonna try this Yeah singing yeah Oh Man okay

[00:48:24] She's saying her voice was a lilting beauty to match her face She asked if I was doing anything plain and direct she wanted to buy me a drink. She thought it was handsome I didn't even get a chance to decline to even begin to divulge my secrets

[00:48:37] She had whisked me away to a nearby bar then I had whisked her away to a room In my uncle's hotel drunk and hot with the lust that had built between us. Oh my god Sorry, this was a scary story and it's like this is bloody

[00:49:10] Her hands what the hell oh my god you are Okay, this this when I searched the juice that stories just came up I'm gonna get through it This is just I was not expecting all this much

[00:49:51] Yeah, I know right and I'm like so immature that I'm just like laughing like crazy Yeah, this was on no sleep, okay Let me restart this so everyone gets this clear her hands went down my pants And My secret was out. That's disgusting

[00:50:16] His secret was out. Is she referring to the member as a secret? Yeah, or are they saying no, this is what I'm wondering. Is this like no, I'm thinking it's a pun

[00:50:28] My secret was oh cuz I got I don't know. Let us know. I'm not sure I'm reading this as if yeah I'm gonna start over so we can be a little more clear

[00:50:38] Yeah, her hands went down my pants and my secret was out, but she didn't slow didn't stop Yesenia never saw me as less of a man just one with different topography. Oh, so then I guess maybe they are trans male Wow, this is beautiful. Okay

[00:50:54] Served. Yeah. Okay. The night was un sueño a dream a dream We circled each other entwined explored each other's nooks and crannies She told me about liking to fuck around that night

[00:51:12] She told me lots of her secrets. Okay, I'm gonna I guess to make up for her excavating mine accidentally This is our new segment horns, but actually oh my god

[00:51:45] She kissed me she said it was the first time she kissed anyone on the lips. She gave me her number She was from Juarez. I lived in sunny Cedro during the year only an hour away

[00:51:54] She drove down to see me all the time. She was my muse as reckless as I was curious We were to go for these long drives camp make fire stance around them like turning moths

[00:52:04] Make love under the stars. We were doing that last week down by the river the Rio Bravo She first told me she loved me on one of those trips. I told her back I loved her for a while, but with as much as she enjoyed her freedom

[00:52:18] I didn't want to bog her down with that confession We were drinking last week when we went out on our night journey stupid idea drinking so close to the water Only a couple hundred feet away the fence looming above us we were dancing around the fire

[00:52:33] We made fully drunk and about ready to get down to love making She didn't like to call what we did fucking we're not messing around when we do it. She said there's love in it Okay

[00:52:47] Yes, then I was kissing my neck when we heard the shrieks she pulled away Her green eyes wide the color of aloe in the fires light. Oh my god Did you hear that? She asked I tried not to groan

[00:53:02] Cupping her face in my hands. It's probably just a let you say I'm sorry that fucking freaked me out. What do you mean? It's just a let you say okay. Yeah, I

[00:53:11] Said softly let you sass are a type of owl that lives down here. They don't who they scream It's kind of similar to a hawk or eagle but a little more humanoid though all stories say they're transformed Witches who'd become Satan's lovers to gain power

[00:53:26] Hmm. Why I just thought they like made a deal with Satan not that they were Satan's lovers, but interesting I've never heard that and can change from owl farm to human form or whenever they want sort of like desert vampire bats

[00:53:42] She didn't seem convinced and pulled her pink breasts Are you gonna join is this gonna be like a threesome And pulled her pink dress back over her okay her soft dark breasts, okay I hate to see them go even though sex was fading from my Eyes

[00:54:55] You're right, I'm sorry lady. Wow I was not expecting this story, okay, so Let's See they like all parts of her were pleasant and captivated in every way not just sexual But the screams came again, and now I could make out the words help me mama

[00:55:21] My flesh went cold after that not just any calls for help But those of a child a lost child in the desert night Yesenia liked kids even if she didn't want any of her own But hearing one in danger got both of us to our feet fast

[00:55:35] I buttoned up my pants yes, and yeah grabbed my hand and we headed toward the fence The desert at night gets pretty cold, and I felt it when we left the fire if yes, and I felt it

[00:55:45] She hit it well. We rushed through the brown harsh land. There was a hole in the fence when we got there Not too weird There's lots of holes and fences here and there whether for those crossing to America or just for people who want to dip their feet

[00:56:00] In the river, but the hole was there So it didn't occur to me to question how the little girl had gotten out here in the middle of the desert Where lovers hid and cavorted love making hiding away to make love oh? Okay Wow

[00:56:18] Yeah, we apparently are like this has been a journey, and it's been funny, and I believe it's been Enjoyable We are too immature yes, but not just you MJ like a me too, yes

[00:56:33] Okay all I thought of was that she had come through the hole it didn't occur to me to trace any further back to how She'd gotten in the hole we went through it her hurrying and flip-flops me in untied boots

[00:56:45] The plant life was thick and heavy with night was sweet smells It was almost too sweet a smell like rotting fruit It made me almost queasy when we entered the green patch by the riverside

[00:56:55] I immediately felt bad about venturing this way the moon was pretty bright which gave us good visibility That was good because we hadn't brought a flashlight in the pale blueish white of the moonlight We saw a little girl barely four or five

[00:57:09] Struggling in the water of the Rio Grande She was screaming and thrashing in the center of the river the deepest part yes, and yet didn't pause She barged right into the river determined to help her dress turned red as it soaked up the river water

[00:57:23] I'm afraid of water and don't know how to swim so I hovered worried on the shore as she made her way in a Shriek ring out from further down the river this time an actual owl

[00:57:34] I spared a glance in its direction when I looked back if any had almost reached a girl But rather than grabbing her yes, then you had paused head tilted the side in The universal gesture of confusion without touching the girl she whirled around in the water

[00:57:51] It was dark, but I saw her face I've seen yes, then you're scared only a few times and they paled in comparison to the terror. I saw on her face then She took a few steps rushed and panicked arms reaching out to me

[00:58:04] She started to scream at my name as she was pulled under I had taken a few steps to grab her Outstretched hands but froze in shock when she disappeared

[00:58:13] I hadn't even hit the edge of the river yet without her obstructing my view. I saw the little girl again Closer this time her face. I want to say was a smile, but it was also like a grimace

[00:58:26] It was too big and forced her eyes bulging and face seeming to split her ears to seem Genuinely happy. I couldn't stand to look at it, but she disappeared into the current, too

[00:58:38] I didn't want to admit it at the time, but I was relieved. I wouldn't have to look at her anymore Yesenia came back up eventually her dress red and hair plastered to her face radiance in the moonlight

[00:58:49] I had been frozen in place for almost 10 minutes much longer than the average person could be submerged without drowning She sputtered and screamed her help even though deep down. I knew it was a lie. I almost went to help her

[00:59:01] I wanted to believe it was her my sunflower, but she was under for too long. There was no way she survived I know you did not just leave her to die The girl or the Yesenia? Yes, those are the little girl disappeared

[00:59:14] Yeah, yes, then you came back up, but it was like 10 minutes later So this person thought yes, Anya was gone and then 10 minutes later Yes, Anya resurfaced screaming, but it was a whole 10 minutes. And so like to this person. Yes, Anya should have been dead

[00:59:29] So he's like sorry. He's like that's not her. That's not a miracle. That's the devil Oh my god No But she was under for too long. There was no way she survived I turned and ran then coward that I am I ran back to my fire and truck

[00:59:55] But I spared one look back at the river once I got to the fence. She was silent no longer struggling Just watching me She said nothing only met my gaze a look of hate so profound on her beautiful face that I couldn't stand it

[01:00:10] she raised a hand and waved and The desert around me seemingly in every direction erupted with the screams of witch owls She dissolved into the water Seeming to liquefy the river ran smooth and black after that the lettuce has called out

[01:00:27] Seeming to laugh. I ran to my truck and tore out of there I drove back to Mexico City that night and found the bed of my truck half full of dead moths and owl feathers The next day Her mother left messages. I didn't answer them

[01:00:44] I called the police and told them I'd lost track of her at the river and now I couldn't find her after they inspected it I host off the truck. I even showed them the remains of my fire the hole and they taped everything off

[01:00:56] Have a feeling they're never gonna find her body I miss her so much when I went to sunny Cedar to get my things from my mom's house on the edge of town

[01:01:04] I could have sworn I saw her wet pink red dress and all just for a second at the fence watching me pack Wishful thinking I guess sometimes I think I'd like to go back to that spot to try and see her again

[01:01:17] Most times I put it out of my head as a bad idea I'm not sure what I'll do, but I do know that if it's not to see her I will never go near that river or that town again. It's a bad place

[01:01:28] Something out there killed her and it's using her as bait for me Just like it used a little girl as bait for her. I only hope I can be strong enough not to take it the end What a ride

[01:01:41] That was a ride. It did get very creepy at the end, but what a wave I mean if we're gonna stick to the water theme what a wave What a riptide, you know What a whirlpool That was interesting all of that sex just to get to Gotten

[01:02:08] Yeah, I don't think we needed it to understand. They said like She comes out of the river. He's all like my like he her Auburn hair. Yeah, my sunflower Like that's what you think. I feel like my wilted sunflower is no more. She is now What the hell

[01:02:28] What is going on here? No, I give that to a spooky's Cuz I don't believe it This was someone practicing their horror book and failing a little bit yes Diddling is correct. They did old far too much in that one

[01:02:47] And I was like my girlfriend drowned but let me tell you how much of a hoe she was before she met me But first let me tell you she loved to fuck and then let me tell you her hands were in my pants, right? Okay

[01:03:01] And then we went to the river and she drowned right and she's Love other like and I cleaned up the crime scene. They probably won't ever I'm like you don't wash your truck bed for nothing

[01:03:13] Like what are our feathers gonna do for the police? I'm gonna look at that and go like Chusa, bro. Oh It was a little too sad. I will say the part of like the minute she

[01:03:28] Was just standing there like and then let you size you could hear them everywhere. That was a little creepy I like that part but yeah, no, I thought I mean great writing

[01:03:36] Yeah, I give that part alone like five but when I have to like do an average out of everything Yeah, I think two or three. Yeah He's being very kind A

[01:03:54] Yeah, okay good in between good in between that's great and I also want to say I'm sorry to Try to stop laughing. I try every every other like paragraph was so ridiculous. I was like Flames moths to them direct sunlight. I'm like what the hell

[01:04:16] Visualize this and you're just putting in too many characteristics and I can't get there Yeah, sorry about Whatever her name is your it's a yes. Anya. Yes. Anya my sunflower. Yeah sunflower so not mine Like what did they call the first one let you see that or whatever

[01:04:48] In the beginning in the little booty at the end I can't believe that That's what you should title this episode Oh My face is sore. I'm like, I know I Need to we need to recover from that that was a mess Oh my god

[01:06:10] She starts it off. This is creepy, okay Creep factor five out of five Wow, are you ready to hear my let you saw story? I'm so ready. I'm so ready. This one's a real one though Okay However, it does involve a booty though aka my biological father

[01:06:56] Triangles complete right? I Didn't have a relationship with him, so it's fine. Don't send your condolences Okay Okay, so my family on my biological father's side is from Durango, Mexico Okay, so they lived on a ranch and I don't think I think when non Mexicans

[01:07:59] Again speaking only from my perspective think of ranches they think of like big sprawling places, but that's not really how they are like in Durango right like they're More like small acreages that people share together and make their own little like

[01:08:17] Part of it. So that's what my family over there had my Biological father would go there quite frequently back and forth from Texas to Durango like pretty frequently and stuff like that Yeah, the family had a ranch there, but then they also had businesses here

[01:08:33] So they kind of just went back and forth all the time. So this particular instance of the story that was shared with me my Biological father was out at the ranch one night. It was like three o'clock in the morning. They didn't have indoor plumbing

[01:08:49] So they all used outhouses and stuff So he went out one night to go to the outhouse because he needed to use the restroom He was out there and he kept hearing something and he was like, what the hell is that?

[01:09:02] He pulls up his pants cuz he's like that's weird pulls up his pants walks out and then his brother is outside And so as his mom like cussing up a storm and his brother starts shooting in the sky Like he sees this giant

[01:09:17] Owl looking thing fly above his head Like he's literally like walking out butting up his pants and he sees this thing like fly over his head Yeah, his brother shoots it and it goes down in the field

[01:09:28] And so he's like, come on, let's go. We gotta go get it or whatever I'm like, what are we gonna do? Like what are you gonna do with this? Like you said like kill it I guess sure so they start running towards the field right and

[01:09:40] They see a figure get up like a man Stand up like very quickly and then he starts like running away from oh my god, you said like landed So in these in the towns and stuff like that Like they they dealt with everything there

[01:09:56] Like you didn't go to the city Like until you were like maybe going to like a major hospital or something But like they had like clinics and all that stuff there like people could go get general treatment, I guess so

[01:10:10] When he when they saw the guy get up and start running away they were like, oh shit, that's like a witch You know what? I mean? And my grandma was like Blessing the place like crazy and was like whatever

[01:10:20] So the next morning they get up and they start asking around town Like hey Did anybody show up with like an a bruise or show up with an injury to the clinics or anything like that?

[01:10:30] Or have you noticed anybody and nobody did nobody's like no we didn't know we didn't you know hear anything We heard stuff, but we heard the gun and everything, but we didn't see anybody come through with an injury or anything like that. So That was like my first

[01:10:46] exposure to the Lechusa and even though like I didn't have a relationship with my biological father like I'm very Anchored in my Culture right? Like I love it because I'm I'm from Texas like, you know

[01:11:03] I've never been to Mexico, but I'm a hundred percent Mexican on both sides And so and I did like my genealogy. So we were here in Texas while Mexico was a part of Texas

[01:11:13] So we technically like on one side of my family. Yeah never left right? Like we've always been Texans So I'd like to I like to keep things like for myself like within my culture like at the top of my mind

[01:11:27] So that stuff is so easy for me to believe because I'm like, oh my god like yeah, I believe in the supernatural and I think that I'm Somewhat sensitive to things like my mom is the same way like within my family

[01:11:39] I don't know if you guys have this too, but like the women in my family We know when something's up Well, my mom does she had the don't skip? Yeah, and they'll be like I felt something in my heart

[01:11:50] Did they say that like it's like I felt something in my heart. Yeah, I think what's gonna happen. So Every time we get a pain in our hearts, like my grandma will get a pain in our hearts

[01:11:59] Something bad's gonna happen. I just know something and then something else my mom does the same thing and then I do the same thing We'll like call and check on each other and be like, are you okay?

[01:12:06] I got a pain in my heart or whatever and I just know like I just know that I don't know what it is I just know that there's like something that's going to happen and it's not gonna be good news, right?

[01:12:15] Like it's just a that's there what happens. I know it fucking sucks generalized anxiety No, it's me definitely me Which means that like so I feel like I'm so sensitive to these things that I've I've had to like block things from Entering my orbit if you will

[01:12:37] So the letuce a story, you know, like definitely Influenced how I feel about supernatural how I feel about owls and all this stuff and through the course of my family We've all had these strange incidences. So like my grandma she grew up in South Texas

[01:12:51] She used to tell me these stories like I don't know why I'm terrified I'm telling you the story and it's dark right now That means I'm gonna have to like stay up for a while

[01:12:59] And like not look cuz if you if you see my booth right now, like I'm in my oh my god Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Are you okay? What's happening? So that's exactly what fucking happens to me

[01:13:12] I get freaked out and I think I see things cuz you can't see my booth right now, but it's a glass door, right? so I When I record my paranormal podcast I recorded in the dark because I want people to be scared like me

[01:13:25] I'm like, I'm terrified when I'm telling you this story. Yeah, so like my glass door Reflects things and I'm like, okay, that's just me And then I kept seeing this like light like hanging out right now and I was like don't look over there

[01:13:36] Don't look over there while I'm telling you My freaking husband he always does that to me and I'm like I can feel Anyways, that's not what I was trying to tell you the story that my grandma told me a long time ago

[01:13:50] and she used to tell me these things cuz She raised me for the most part And so I always slept in bed with her because we were poor and so I didn't have anywhere else really to sleep

[01:14:00] My brother slept on the floor. I slept with her or vice versa like it just depended on what house we were in at that time and I would be like tell me those scary stories again. I'm like, what the fuck was I doing?

[01:14:10] So she would tell me so one day her and her sister were walking to school Right, and they had to carry like imagine those old-school book bags where they had like the belt on them

[01:14:21] Like that's how you carry your ass like that. That's how they carry their books to school or whatever so they're walking together to school and they're fighting over who has to carry the book bag and who has to do what and they're

[01:14:30] Just going back and forth right arguing with each other pushing each other, whatever And This lady comes out of nowhere They'd never seen her before had no idea who she was because I mean it's a sentence. Oh, it's like a very small town

[01:14:45] It's I mean imagine a small South Texas town like full of maybe a thousand people. Everybody knows everybody Mm-hmm, even family members that come in like they know who people are so they'd never seen this lady before right?

[01:14:58] Her younger two brothers are walking up ahead like not even paying attention or whatever This lady steps out and she the girls like my grandma and her sister stop in front of her like the hell you doing

[01:15:09] You're blocking our way and she picks up a rock and she hands it to my aunt and she goes hit your sister with this Since you're fighting what the hell and she's like

[01:15:19] What like she didn't know what to do and she's like hit your sister with this and she'll stop fighting with her or whatever And they were like, oh my god. What the hell is this? So they throw the rock down Run away from this lady

[01:15:32] They come back home after school and tell my great-grandma like what happened and she was like that was a witch It was trying to get you to like hurt your sister so that you would do something bad

[01:15:42] Essentially or whatever and so they made them do all of these prayer things. I don't know but yeah, that story freaked me out when I was little cuz I was like, oh my gosh like

[01:15:52] Imagine how sinister you have to be like even if that was just a real person like to pick up a rock This was like in the 40s. You know, like go ahead and bludgeon your sister to the death So so scary, even if it's just a regular person

[01:16:07] Yeah, just comes out of nowhere and she's like hit her with it. Let's just do it. Like oh my god That's what she did She just like picked it up and it was like here and then they when they ran away and they like looked back

[01:16:18] She wasn't there. Oh My god, I was like, oh man, that's Freaky as fuck. Thanks It was really scary, so I've always had these like kind of paranormal instances happen to me, but I've been able to

[01:16:32] Control them in the sense that I know how to like protect myself now and how I let things in my orbit if you will But I wasn't so good at that when I was in college. This is my most like oh my gosh. No wait

[01:16:43] Oh, I have two scary stories That personally happened to me this I'll do the first one first That's my scariest one because I don't know if this was real or if this was a dream. Okay? So I was about five years old and

[01:16:58] We were living in an apartment at the time with my mom My two older brothers we at the time this is before I lived with my grandma So I know it was happened. It happened before I was six so

[01:17:09] Me and my brothers all slept in the same bed together or whatever And I always used to sleep in the middle between them because I was a scaredy-cat And so I was like, I want to be protected by my brother

[01:17:18] So I always like slept with them in the middle But at the time I was obsessed with praying and I was obsessed with my dolls so I

[01:17:26] would pray every night like but like not even praying I would just like get down on my knees and go like this and Hey put my hands together and just be like, okay, I'm done and then go there So I wouldn't want my doll to do it, too

[01:17:37] So I had pray every night like it's things I saw on TV that I was like, I want to do that, too So one night I forgot to pray and I remembered my brothers were asleep

[01:17:45] So I climbed over them grabbed my doll and I put her down next to me to pray And so I started doing that put my hands together close my eyes and then I looked down at her and was like are you praying too and

[01:17:57] She no lie looks up at me like turns her head and I was like wait She's not supposed to do that. Oh, I got chills. I hate this story so much Okay, so she looks at me oh my gosh and I get up so quick like the fastest

[01:18:15] I think I've ever moved in my entire life to get in between my brothers and I'm like this like with them like oh my God shaking so hard and the next day I wake up the doll still on the floor

[01:18:24] Next day, I wake up and I tell my mom. I'm like you need to throw this doll away like throw him away I don't want to know anymore

[01:18:31] Yeah, and I didn't tell her why I don't think cuz I just couldn't verbalize it like I didn't understand what happened It wasn't until later and then I was like, yeah to this day

[01:18:39] I don't know if it was a dream or if it was real because it felt Very real to me still though. Yeah. Well the doll was on the floor. Yeah, but I mean

[01:18:51] That's true. Yeah. Yeah, you woke up and it was on the floor. So yeah, it was where you left it Yeah, so I was like I was terrified dude Like I that thing still freaks me out to this day cuz I was like, oh my gosh

[01:19:05] And it's one of those I mean, it's a memory that sticks with me forever Visually like I'm still there like if I picture it even when I retell it

[01:19:14] When I get into that mode of like here comes the part where she's doing, you know, she's gonna look at me It's still like sends that jolt of fear through me Like, you know

[01:19:24] You've been scared before in your life or you get that moment of fear where you get that jolt of like electricity Yeah, you feel it. Yeah, exactly how I feel every time I tell that story. I'm like, oh my god Also to this day hey dolls

[01:19:37] So I'm like they can't be in my head and stuffed animals too because I'm like now I don't trust any of you guys And I'll save my story from my last story so you know how to talk about it, that's okay

[01:19:52] Unless you want to hear it. Okay, don't beg me So this one happened when I was in college And this one was a weird one because it was it happened with a group right like there were multiple people who experienced the same

[01:20:08] Thing happening. So I know this for sure was paranormal, right? so at the time I went to college down in San Antonio and I got a apartment with my sorority sisters with two of my sorority sisters

[01:20:22] I would never in my life recommend ever living with your sorority sisters Just for the record don't do it if you think it's fun, it's cool. It's not don't do it. My friend Maria was from

[01:20:35] Mexico and she had a ton of supernatural shit happened to her when she was younger and stuff like actually had a witch-scratcher and Her mom had to get somebody to come and bless her like she had such scary shit happened to her and I was like

[01:20:48] Why are you living in my house? Why are we living together? But she was also the type of person like and I think we all know somebody like this like she's the most educated in her family, so she had a lot of responsibility to

[01:21:03] Financially help her family and stuff like she was paying a mortgage and paying rent Like she was working double jobs and going to school and everything like I mean Everything taking care of her little brother all this stuff. So she just she was the oldest

[01:21:18] So she had the kind of that burden on her, right? Yeah Mm-hmm. So she worked tirelessly studied all night like where I would be lazy and be like bro, it's it's 12 o'clock I'm going to bed

[01:21:28] She's staying up till 3 o'clock in the morning going to class at 7 like she's just doing what she needs to do to get things done And then my other sorority sister, she was living there who I hate now, so I don't ever mention her but whatever

[01:21:43] But she took the master bedroom because she also had a kid so They stayed in there and then I stayed in a different room or whatever right next to Maria so one day

[01:21:53] Maria tells me she falls asleep on her floor face down like head in her hands and everything because she had just she was Studying and she just kind of zoned out and fell asleep so She wakes up because she feels pressure on her back

[01:22:08] And she's like, hmm. Why am I feeling this right? And she feels it coming up and down up and down up and down And so she looks back behind her and she sees little feet like toddlers feet Like I'm like a little kid sitting on her back, right?

[01:22:24] and she's like Okay, not cool. This is not good And but she just she's frozen in fear doesn't know what to do And then the next morning she's like I need to tell you something

[01:22:38] Because I think you'll know what to do and your mom will know what to do and I was like, oh my god Don't tell me And so she tells me and I was like that's freaky Yeah

[01:22:52] I was like you should have woken me up or something like I would have come and slept in your room or you could Slip to my room Yeah, and she was like I didn't know what to do and I was like, okay

[01:23:01] and so I was trying to make light of it and was like Joking around I forgot the name we started calling it But everybody was like you should not have named it because then you just gave it and I was like cool Awesome, right?

[01:23:16] My mom was like well listen, it's if it's a child ghost like They don't they're not harmful. Like they're just playing Yeah And they probably knew she needed a break and she needed a rest

[01:23:27] So they were trying to play with her and stuff and they don't understand. They're not that's kind of sweet. Yeah, okay sure Yeah, my other roommate she was like studying in her room and she had her room was notorious for being like ice-cold

[01:23:42] Like always cold the rest of the house was like fine But her room was always cold Which means she never had her fan on right because it was always cold enough in there

[01:23:50] so she was studying one day and she had her papers all like laid out across her bed and She said it was like somebody had walked by and was like

[01:24:00] Swapped all the papers off of her bed. It was like one big motion of it. Yeah, and she was like, okay that's freaky and Then one night cuz I was like trying to avoid it up

[01:24:13] My mom was like you can say just a house you can do all this stuff and I was like I think I need you to come and do that cuz I don't think I'm strong enough and then I used to work late

[01:24:20] So I wouldn't get home till like 12 o'clock or or 1 or whatever and I would go into my room Browse around on my Blackberry at the time Not the Blackberry. All right I know

[01:24:33] I used to sleep with my TV on all the time because I just was like I hate it Being dark in my room or whatever like I would sleep with the whole lights on but cuz I'm a scaredy-cat like that, but I

[01:24:44] Start hearing knocking as I'm laying down and it starts in my closet, which is like literally directly Like Like going across the wall until it gets above my head. Oh my god. Oh, and I was like God no Stop it. I don't want you in here

[01:25:01] Like I was really forceful cuz I was like if this is a little kid you ain't playing with me I'm gonna be that I'm gonna be that yeah to you right now. I was like, I'm fun until you mess with me

[01:25:11] Yeah, I was like very firm and I was like no and I was like don't ever do that or whatever It's like you're not allowed in here or something like that And then the next day Raquel and I were his roommate I don't like so shout out

[01:25:25] We're sitting on the couch together and Our couches were like in an L shape So she was on one side of a corner and I was on the other side of the corner and then the remotes were right

[01:25:36] In between us and we were watching the show as we're watching it The volume on the TV you just start to see the bar and it goes all the way like from where it was like on 125 all the way up by itself to like 40 50 60

[01:25:49] Oh, and then it goes all the way back down to zero and we looked at each other Like why did you do that? Like that was so random and shoot and then we look down and we see the remotes are where they are

[01:26:00] And we know we didn't touch them. So we were like, oh my god. Okay, that's freaky So then I literally had my mom come and blessed the house and stuff like that because she's like the only person I feel like

[01:26:10] Could do something like that or whatever and then after that we didn't have any issues or anything like that But that was freaky for me. That was like the last real paranormal experience, hopefully

[01:26:30] But yeah, that's the last paranormal experience I had like and that was with a group of people that we all like know that Yeah, it was crazy that that knocking is horrifying that it just like slowly got closer to you

[01:26:44] Yeah, and it was at night too. So I was like, why the hell would you do that? We're not about to go to sleep Like don't don't don't don't and it was just like walking imagine a little kid just like walking along the wall just like don't don't

[01:26:56] Yeah, I hate that So yeah Yeah Those are my spooky tales Yeah No, I would have thrown up No, that's scary Okay. Okay. Well, thank you so much

[01:27:23] Thank you. This is fun. Oh my god. Thank you for having me. This is probably the best guest episode we've had so far Oh my gosh, and that is shade to Carmen. No, I'm just kidding all the shade forever She just topped everyone. Okay, sorry

[01:27:38] Not hard to do No, this was so fun, oh my god Well before we go Do you have any spooky recommendations for anyone? Yes, I do. Okay, so I have I love horror movies and the like the latest horror movies on that have been released are terrible

[01:28:02] So I like to watch old horror movies and stuff like that. So highly recommend actually Listening to the Exorcist on audible or wherever you get your audio books because the original author like the author who wrote it actually reads for it and it is incredible like

[01:28:19] You I mean it I do voice acting also, right? So like audio books aren't necessarily always done by the author like sometimes just because you can write a book doesn't mean you can read a book and especially read it for an audience, but this guy is

[01:28:32] Incredible as an audiobook narrator and he does such a phenomenal job bringing that book to life It's actually a lot scarier than the movie. So I'd highly recommend reading or listening to The Exorcist on audible and

[01:28:48] One of the freakier movies I've seen here lately that I really enjoyed It's a newer movie the smile one if you haven't watched it It's actually really good because it makes you think like it plays into the whole

[01:29:03] psychology piece of the paranormal side right because you know how they often are like well They got to get an eval or whatever and I'm like Imagine if people think you're like schizophrenic because you may have hallucinations

[01:29:15] But you're really like being trailed by this like mimic demon thing and you have no way of getting away from it because everybody Thinks you're crazy. So you're just institutionalized and it is such a mind-boggling experience like such a mind fornication That it is It was really great

[01:29:35] Like it was such a good movie because you think it's gonna have this ending where you're like, okay Finally and then I get you right back in so I would recommend checking it out. Dang

[01:29:44] Okay, that's actually on Amazon Prime and I've been thinking about doing another movie night Cuz you should stream things that are on Amazon Prime on Twitch So maybe I will do it for a movie night and stream it

[01:29:56] And whoever has Amazon Prime can join because you need Amazon Prime to view movie nights on Twitch. So so yeah I mean, it's actually a pretty decent movie and it's like oh, okay Yeah because I mean it makes you it makes you think afterward kind of like how

[01:30:09] Paranormal activity did cuz I think when you first watch it You're like this movie is so stupid and then when you get home if you're like me and you're like wow

[01:30:15] I wonder what could happen if I am asleep and it goes pulls my sheets off what I know and then you Cycle through that for a while And then you think about getting the same setup

[01:30:25] You just leave with all your lights on like it matters cuz it goes can turn them off. No big deal No biggie. Yeah Spooky recommendations No I've been sick all week and do this with sick kids. So I have not watched anything Okay

[01:30:48] I watched hocus-pocus to for the first time like a couple days ago with my child Well both of them, but oh, yeah, it wasn't like it's not as good as the first one, but I did cry at the end Oh, yeah

[01:31:04] Spoilers. Yeah, so I won't say why but I did me cry. It was cute. Yeah. Yeah Yeah, so I do recommend that if you like the first one and if you can get past The whole name the main yeah

[01:31:21] No, but Miller and her she made like some transphobic comments on right later And then I kind of forgot that happened and then I watched it cuz I was like

[01:31:30] I'm not watching it like a year ago and then I forgot and I watched it. So my bad way to be It was not bad. Yeah the opposite of an ally my bad, but you know what it was

[01:31:41] It was not amazing but it was okay, I think yeah, you're not missing out if you don't watch it No, you're really not you're really not Yeah, I think my like I came back and it was playing so I didn't play myself

[01:31:53] And then I was like, oh I haven't seen this. So then I just like watched the rest. Yeah Yeah, Matteo knows how to read and look for movies and stuff. So he he did it Yeah, so it was him. Oh, oh, I did actually

[01:32:08] Yesterday when my daughter was sick, she finally got into bed and I did actually watch something I forgot I'm so sleep-deprived you guys. I'm sorry. We watched the new Haunted Mansion movie Cute I like the

[01:32:24] What is it called the special effects? Mm-hmm. Okay. It was cute. I liked it. Okay. I love the Muppets Haunted Mansion I've never seen any of them. Oh the Muppets Haunted Mansion is the great and so it's obviously the original but
