The First Omen: It's All For You Damien!

Hi everyone. This is Christina and this is MJ and Carmen and this is a special bonus episode of Espo Tells. I said that weird of a spooky tells that sounds better enunciated, you to notice. Okay, well maybe it was just me. Anyway, this is a special episode because we are talking about the Omen, because the First Omen, the prequel to the Omen, is coming out April fifth, and I had a chance to sit down with the director of the First Omen. Wow. Wow, wow. I was very nervous. So you'll notice in the audio explained how nervous I was probably sound like when I sound how I sound one? I had to testify a corn It's horrible. My voice is all a shaky. That's probably what it sounded like. Seriously, I was dying. I was so nervous. But it was super it was awesome. So I guess, first, what did you guys remember about the Omen any like before we watched it? Oh wait, let me just say, we're recapping the movie the Omen in honor of the First Omen. Okay, now go okay, okay. What I remember is more of not a necessarily movie. Because I was watching it, I was like, oh, I forgot about that. I forgot about that, but it was the hype around it, and then like I remember everybody was hyping its June six, two thousand and six. Yeah, and it was so high. And then when I watched I was like, oh, okay, I kind of recall that we went to go see it in the theaters, but Carmen doesn't remember that. I think you're right. I couldn't really remember, but I kind of remember. Like after after we left, we were like talking about it NonStop and we were like laughing about it being like six x' six, and then we were like joking that if we had a son, we were gonna name him Damien. We were doing that. We were like, I kind of like that name, but I didn't do it because I was like, actually, I'm kind of scared I will not choose the name Damien. And I know too many people named Damien too. I'm like it was the name it for anyone who had a baby boy from two thousand and six to two thousand and eight, and if it wasn't Damien, it was Jayden right, yes, and Jaden stuck on and Damien kind of like just fell off. It fell off after this movie so yeah, I also didn't remember much, but I had a good time watching it. I'm not gonna lie. But first, let me just get into the basics of the movie. So we watched the two thousand and six movie. It's a remake of the nineteen seventy six version, and it's almost like frame for frame remade, Like it's almost exactly the same. But movies knobs will say it was dull compared to the first one. The nineteen seventy six version was like more animated. I haven't seen it, so I don't know. I thought that that six was fun, a fun watch. It's cute. It's not as bad as I remember it. Yeah, I liked it. It's not terrifying. It has this like very classic horror moments, Like, yeah, I thought I thought it was fun. The omen I, like we said, came out November, not November. What the fuck am I saying? June? Yes, six six six, like we've been saying. I was thinking about the birth of my own son, oh, because he was almost amen some shit, I don't know what the funk I was thinking, Yes, okay, so six six six, and it was a big deal because of all those sixes, and there was posers everywhere that said six six six like it was. It was cool. The marketing was great. Yeah, the marketing was like spectacular. I haven't seen marketing like that in a long time. Yeah, it's been a while. I feel like when Smile came out, it was kind of close because they had like all those weirdos smiling, like freaking weirdos at random events. Oh, which reminds you like I wanted to use that like Uncanny Valley makeup. Have you seen that one? Or they have not? Oh, I got to show you guys. But it reminds you of Smile. Yeah. It was like a there was a baseball game and they had a woman in the middle just smiling and they zoomed in on her during the baseball game, and that was like they just did that in different places and I was like, that's smart because people are like what the fuck? So yeah, I don't think I enjoyed any marketing before or after Barbie Heimer. Nothing comes Barbenheimer. Yeah that was great And I still haven't seen another movie. You haven't no, Oh, okay, So the Open two thousand and six. It's directed by John Moore. It was written by David Saltzer. Those names mean nothing to me anyway. Yeah, and then it stars leave Shreeber, which I was like, oh, say, you're tooth from That's where I reconized the one and only Julius Styles, which I just I didn't realize she was in it until I was rewatching it. Me either, I didn't remember at all until we started watching it and I was like, oh my god, it's Julius Styles. All they can think about is the dancing movie she's in, because I love that movie. So yeah, Julia Styles. And then the Little Boy he is shamous Davie Fitzpatrick. And then I just want to say who the father, So yeah, Robert Thorn the dad that's Leeve Shreeber, and then Kate that's Julius Styles Catherine Thorn. And then father Brennan is our other main person. He is played by Pete Apostlewait. I don't know if that's how you say the last name. And then okay, and then one more main person. Oh sorry, Mia Farrow. Oh yeah, yeah. I was surprised to see her too because I didn't remember. I didn't realize that was her either, Yeah, Mia Farrow. And then the other person I want to mention it is the photographer Keith Jennings. He's our other main person. Hey, isn't he the guy from Harry Potter? Yes? Okay? And he is Lupin, isn't he? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah, I saw him and I was like, Lupin? Is that you? Lupin? Lukeen? I just like to say where people are from. And the First Omen is a direct prequel to this movie. So in the Omen, they realize like the little boy is the spawn of yeah Satanas. Yeah, but you know, I like, as you're watching the Omen, I'm kind of like, well, why is the baby there? Why is Father Brennan so weird? What's going on? And the prequel, the First Omen answers all those questions for us, okay, because I was wondering, I'm like, why is he involved? How did he become involved in it? Like what is what is this? Yeah? Yeah, yeah it gets It's a good backstory to Father Brennan. But we also then have new characters. So the first Omen stars Neil Tiger Free. She is the Game of Thrones. She was Marcella Barrathian and gave it Thrones. I'm trying to remember. I don't remember. I try to delete the last season she's not in the last season. I don't think. I think I know who she is. Yeah, the Barrathians. I mean, if you saw her, you'd recognize her. So she's like a you know, newer actress. I think. Yeah. Game of Thrones is probably her biggest like credit aside from the first omen. We have Bill Nye, Bill Nye, n I g h oh, not the science guy. Okay, science, he's in other movies like Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean, Underworld, Sonya Braga. You might recognize her name. No, no, okay, she's in Let's See a bunch of stuff. But she's a Brazilian actress. And yeah, I mean those are some of the bigger names in the movie. And then it follows so Neil Tiger Free, she goes to this convince she's going to become a nun. So she goes here and she's there with the other nuns and that's where like the story really takes place and where baby Damien comes to be. And it's cool because it's uh yeah, it was directed by Arcacias Stephenson. She's the director. She's directed other things like episodes of Legion, which I watched, great show. Some episodes of Channel zero. Another great show Brad new Cherry Flavor, which is another horror show that was on Netflix, and it's also pretty good. If you haven't seen any of those things, you should anyway. So yeah, Arcacias Stevenson, she's the director, and she really made sure that the women characters because it follows the nuns, the nuns the most. So it's like a woman led, women acted horror movie, which is rare. So yeah, we get that. And then we also just get the story of Baby Damien. So yeah, that was a little about the movie. And then I'll put in my interview I think here just after this, so that we get to learn a little more about the first Omen before we get into recapping the Omen. I did ask in my short ass five minutes. I asked her if there was any paranormal experiences on set. Oh, just because the nineteen seventy six movie was allegedly cursed. Oh really, because yeah, so the set director, I think it was the set director, the set designer, one of those two things. He had made this death scene a certain way, and then like some months after the movie came out, he died in the same way. Oh what, Yeah, so it was allegedly cursed, and so I was like, I heard that about the nineteen seventy six movie. So was there any paranormal experiences like on this movie? And she was like no, we were all like ready for it because we thought it would happen. But nothing happened to anyone except the father he got bit by a dog. What she said, damn, And you'll hear it in the interview, because yeah, it was like I have to ask this or I wouldn't be me. So yeah, Hi, very nice to meet you. Super nice to meet you. I was looking and excited to see that you worked on brand new Charriie Flavor and Channel zero and Legion. I've seen all those shows, so that was exciting. Cool, thanks for watching this. Yeah, yeah, I noticed they're all like horror or I guess like prepy related. What called you to work on the first omen? Yeah? Well, I'm a huge fan of the franchise and the original film. You know, I watched it when I was way too young, and so it's always had like a big place in my heart and was really lucky that the script was shared with me and the story really spoke to me, which I think is it was exciting for us because I think that's a real experience, and yeah, it was. It was really interesting getting to read about this young you know, no vitiate entering the world. I thought that was a really crush perspective to re enter the Omen franchise with. Yeah, and it's so it's so cool to see I guess the beginning because I saw the nineteen seventy six version, But the one I remember more was the two thousand and six remake because kind of what I must have been in high school or a little bit something like that when it came out, But it was such a big deal because it came out on the date the sixty six, two thousand and six was such a big like marketing employee for it, So I remember that film more. But yeah, I remember wondering, like, what is why is baby Damon here? What is up with father Rendon? All those things? So it's a it's very cool to uh, I guess see the beginning. Yeah, I know. I'm so glad you said that, Thank you, because you think that that was a huge question that I had when I first watched the original, is like how did Danien come into existence? And so that was I was like, well, if there's going to be a prequel, I really hope it answers that question. And we read the script and we just thought that it was such an adventure learning like discuss that answer. And then also it sets you up to just immediately enter the world of the original. So yeah. And then also I loved getting to explore the character of Father Brennan because you know, he comes off he's very unhinged in yes, Yeah, so it's like discovering how he got to that mental state was something that was really fun for us. And to work with Ralph Inoson and get his perspective on it was really it was really cool process. Yeah, and it's Yeah, it was so cool to see as well. Well, thanks for saying that, it's awesome. Yeah. And another thing that was super cool because I feel like it's hard to find or you have to almost look for horror that's directed by women and women led, So that was another amazing thing to see what this movie too. Oh man, thank you for saying that. Yeah. I think that what's really exciting about the horror space nowadays is that more and more women are entering it and with really bold, new fresh visions and something very powerful to say, and so yeah, like, for example, I just love Roast Glass and I love Saint Maude and I thought that was so masterfully done. And you know the Bobba Duke, and I think that there's more, you know, more ladies are coming, Yes, and it brings a new I guess, like a fresh perspective almost too, because even with this movie, you can tell, not that you can tell like oh this has a woman's touch, but you can It's like a new take, I guess you can say on even the whole Owen franchise. Yeah, yeah, I appreciate you saying that. I thinks because I think, you know, it's the Owen franchise is predominantly through men's puvis, so it is exciting to think about how did the birth of Damien happen? And do that through a female point of view, I think just gives you a whole other side of the coin. Yeah, and very needed, I do. I did want to ask because I remember the nineteen seventy sixth film, when or after it came out, there was like this legend that it was cursed. Did you guys see any like paranobal experiences while we're filming or anything, oh, you know, it's so funny. And we were like everybody was mentally ready because we had all read about the stories of the original Omen filming and so everybody was kind of watching out, ready for something to happen. And you know, I think we got by pretty unscathed. I know, the good strange things that happened, and mostly towards Ralph who you know plays father Brennan. Wow, yeah, yeah, like he was bit by a dog before. Oh gosh, okay, So like there are a few things, but everybody made out in the end. We were all safe. Good, good. Any other things to add about the Omen, the Omen franchise before we get into recapping the Omen. No, just that I saw there's like two or three movies after the Omen, the original Omen, and so I'm planning on watching those sometimes someday. Like from the nineties, I don't hold up, well, oh really, they're not. I hear they're not as good. There kind of just don't make sense from what I've heard. But the first, the nineteen seventy six one, and to me the two and six one, they're both classics because I've only heard the seventy six one is better. But I wanted to watch the newer one. Yeah, yeah, so mjn any last stops before we get into Okay, let's start recapping the movie. Then, so the omen and we I think Hulu has it right, that's where we all watched it. So the movie starts out with a man, a priest or of some sort, some sorts, looking through a telescope. He's these three comments and then he starts looking a little freaked out. He's like all freakishly writing his journal, writing so fast. Then he runs upstairs talks to another priest, and obviously there's like I think he talks to a higher level priest. I just don't know the name, the terminology, like a cardinal, you know. So he runs to another room where there's another priest who I think is higher up than him. And then after that, I was like, are we in the Vatican? And then they started speaking Italian and I was like, okay, we're in the Vatican. So they're speaking Italian, and I was like, why don't they have like subtitles in English automatically for any of this? Sorry, you can understand it because it's like Spanish. I could actually understand most of it. Yeah, I understood a lot of it, and then the whole time I fell bad for Paul, even though he didn't like the movie. I couldn't stop talking, so I was like, oh my god, that word in Spanish is this word? And then I just kept doing that every time they talked in Italian, and I was like, I'm so sorry I couldn't stop. You're horrible. But yeah, I went it's on the same thing. But I watched it by myself, so damn. We should have watched it together, I know, but it's so hard to do virtually, No, it is, Yeah, yeah, but that would have been more fun. I feel like we should have a movie night, but I'm like, I don't know how to stream shipt virtually. So yeah, the last time I tried it to have a movie night on Twitch, didn't want to sitn't load, and I was like, fuck this. And I haven't tried since that day. That was like a year and a half ago, so I want to do them again anyway. Okay, so, yes, they were speaking Italian. It's not translated for the non Italian and not Spanish speakers, but we get the gist of it. We learned that there's this promised prophecy that's coming true when the first angel blows his trumpet, and then we just go when the second angel, we get to six. I skipped the like what they actually said, but at the sixth angel. So when the sixth angel blows his trumpet, the beast is freed from the bottomless pit and it reeks havoc on Earth. We start out the prophecy with the two priests, but then by the end of it, where they're like in a meeting with all the other priests or something, and they're talking about this prophecy, and then so they're like sharing this prophecy, and then one of the priests in the room is like, oh my God, like stop, this is enough. This is nonsense. And then the one who like saw the comments, he's like, no, it's too late. It's begun. We're on the eve of armageddon. He's coming for us, for our souls. And I was like, oh, so scary. So at the same right after that, we cut to leave Shreeber and I didn't know any of their names, so I lose the actors' names, but now I know it's Robert Robert is Leave Schreeber slash Stabretooth. Yeah, so Sabretooth is Yeah, that's the exact same. I was like, oh, Sabertooth, what's going on, let's go with that. Yeah, well, no, who we're talking about? Yeah again, let me just repeat, saber Tooth is Robert is leave Schreemer, but I will probably keep saying Sabretooth. I'm sorry. So he goes to his wife, who's Julia Styles slash Kate. She's going into labor and there was complications. She's like asleep because of like I don't know, resting after the complications that she doesn't know about yet. We are in a castle hospital of some sorts or something like that, because there's like a priest there. Robertabtooth walks in to asks how Kate and his wife is. She's okay, but she is resting. He's like, where's my baby? And then the priest is like, oh, well, your child is dead, and they say it also casually. I'm like, damn, like she'd prepare them a little bit. I don't know. Then Robert's saber Tooth is worried because he's like, this child does everything for her, but it's like, okay, what about you. It's weird and so weird way a wording it. Yeah, yeah, I thought it was weird too. Yeah, but then he gets sad after he does. He does, and then the priest is like, there was damage to her wound and she may not be able to have children again. And he tells mister and my other question is why is the priest delivering all this info? Is he a priest slash doctor? Is that? What's going on here? Good question? I wonder. I don't know anyway. So then he tells Robert he must accept God's plan, and they take him to some other baby, some other random baby, and he's like, this baby mother died and he was born at the same time as your own baby. And then uh saber tooth asks, okay, well where's my baby? Can I see him? And the father's like, what's to be gained? And I needed it would have been like let me fucking see him. That would eraise hands. Yeah, yeah, like what do you mean what's to be gain? Like at least let me hold the baby once. I don't know closure, but no, the priest he he knows. Actually, I wonder the priest was in on it, right, Why was he doing it? Yeah? And I guess that's answered in the first omen because the whole time I was like, why did he do this? Yeah? Why? Why? Anyway? So yeah, he's like, what's to be gain? Just accept God's plan for that child in there, And I'm like, this is just weird. I would have been like, why are you insisting on this? What if I don't want that random baby? What if I want my baby? Yeah? So then the priest is like, uh, God gave you a son. And so then we cut to Robert in the room with Kate. He's holding the baby and he hands it to her. He doesn't even tell her like, that's not our baby. He accepts God's pie, which is really this priest's plan. I don't know about God here. So then they're looking at their new beby all cute, and she has no idea that that's not the baby she gave birth. She never knows and how would she you know, I don't know, because all babies look the same at that age. So then we got a cute montage for them raising this baby that's not theirs. Time passes, we see Christmas birthdays, the child, that toddler age, and yes we pause here at this toddler age. I'm not sure. I was guessing like three and a half three. So Kate is there with little toddler baby Damien, and Sabertooth tells her that he has good news. The boss was made Ambassador of England something like that. She's like, okay, why do I care? Like why is this good news? And then he's like, we're moving to London. Obviously I'm following him because he's my boss. So then we cut to a bunch of traffic and there's angry drivers. This set boss that just became the Ambassador of England is in a limo. His name is Steven. He's in the limo. He rolls down his window. Then we see a man just like ominously walking and he's dragging a lid from a sewer. I'm like why, I don't know. Maybe he needs a lid for his house. Mm hmm. I had questions. So then the sewer lid bumps a thing that was holding a truck in place, like a little like a chalk block is what we called him in the army, but I don't know what they're called in the real world. Like a doorstopper for cars, Yeah, that's right, that's a car stopper. If you will are stopper, if you will, we'll stop it. So the lid sewer lid bumps that the guy keeps walking. He doesn't even notice. The truck slowly rolls back. Then inside the car, Stephen the ambassador looks at his clock and what time is it? Six? Yeah, six pm? How six minutes zero six seconds? Yes, thank you, Jane, I got is. Yeah, but nobody says time like that. That implies six minutes and sixty six seconds the way you said a cartman, not the way I'm Jay said it. She said it right anyway. So yeah, he looks at his watch. It's six o six with six seconds, six micro seconds, milli seconds, I don't know, it doesn't matter. So then we see a guy drop a cigarette. Then yeah, we move on. The truck keeps rolling back, and when the truck stops, it crashes a thing that first it crashes the limo, and the guy's like, oh my god. But at the same time there's a bunch of like liquid that's coming from somewhere that by the crash. I thought it was a truck that rolled back or whatever. The truck itself. Oh that makes much sense with that, Okay, so the or gas or something. Yeah, yeah, So the the truck crashes the limo, it spills all the oil that was inside, and then that cigarette from earlier catches fire and everything catches fire, and I was like, wow, including Stephen, includes Stephen. Yeah, very final destination. Yeah yeah, yeah, that's what I was gonna say. This is I was like, wow, what a fun investination death. I love it the creative. Then we cut to the family arriving in London and they're in the car. Roberts is in the car. He's look at our newspaper. That's like, yeah, ges ambassador ever at thirty four, So he's now the ambassador because Stephen got fried took me out soil. Yeah yeah, I was Yeah. They're looking at this big house and Kate Drew the Styles tells him, oh, this reminds you of Stephen's home in Italy, and then he's all upset, and at first I was like, why is he upset? And then he says, so he feels like I'm stepping in Steven's place, but like he is, yeah, he's not the ambassador. He's now living in a big house like the ambassador. Then he says like he feels like he only got this job because he's the President's Godza and I was like, oh, nepotism. Wow, okay, well that makes sense. Yeah yeah, and I was like, oh, yeah, you should feel bad. They agree on the house finally, and then we fast forward a couple of years. We got a montage and then we see Kate playing with Damien at the park. At first, I was like, is he seven? But I just can't guess any ages. He's five, Oh, he's five. Yeah, he's five, because at the birthday party you can see a five five candles. Anyway, sorry, we're at the park right now. So she's pushing them on the swing. Her phone rings. She turns around to answer it, but it's no one. When she turns around again, Damien is gone. We have dramatic ass music as she's looking for him around the park. There's a lake and she's like, no, no, no, no, he's inside the lake. She's still running looking for him, and then it like pans out a bit and we see him hiding behind a tree, just like smirk standing there, Yeah, with a little smirk. That kid is so good, that creepy smirk, Like amazing. So we see him behind this tree. She's looking for him. Surely he can hear her, hear her spare him, spare her horror, her sadness, and it brings him joy. He jumps out and says boo. And then she's like, don't you ever do that again? No, obviously uh. And then he's like, first he looks like yeah, he's like, doesn't even Cary, I love it. Oh my god. He's like, so yeah, whatever, like I don't care. That's his face. And then and then he's like, did I scare you? Mommy? I didn't mean to. He was so scary yea, And I sorry. I love my kids, but I was my kid at that. We'd been like, what the fuck? Why'd you say it like that? That's into the lake you goat? Oh man. Okay. So then we're at a birthday party and it's Statement's party. There's cake, photographers, is a huge party because you know, he's the ambassador and it's like political whatever. Then we see a photographer and he looks a little sweaty, a little slazy loopin. Does you know what sweaty? Know? He does like the whole time. Yeah. Yeah, She's like, why does he look so sweaty? So yeah, he looks sweaty and sleazy and he's taking pictures. Well, he has a glass of wine and then he starts taking pictures and then we see the nanny. Kate grabs Damon from her, and then when she does that, the nanny staring off into the distance and like, what is she looking at? Then we see a big black dog and she's just glaring at it. She looks mesmerized by this dog. I don't know, it's cute. It's dog's cute. I think it's evil though, so it is. Yeah, we have suspenseful ass music playing. Then suddenly the nanny's on the roof and she's like, Damien, Damien, look at me, it's all for you. Sorry about my voices. The reenactment is I cannot do it. This is why we don't have a movie recap podcast, because I would be able to be ridiculous. Man. So yeah, she's like, it's all for you. When she jumps, yeah she does. And then obviously everyone's freaked the fuck out except Damien, whose chill is fuck, yeah, this is just another day. He's like, that's that's it. Yeah, I expected more wrestled dazzle. Oh man. Yeah, chaos ensues. Sabertooth runs over to Damien he's like, it's okay, it's okay, but yeah, Damien doesn't care. He's very much okay. He's very clearly okay. And Damien's staring at something and then like we pan out and we see the dog and he waves at it all calmly. He gets his friend from below, his friend from hell. Yeah, I remember you. What do they call them his hell hell hound? Yeah, hell hound. Yeah. Then we have mister Thorn's sabertooth or riving and I work with the Saudi ambassador or something. There's a bunch of photographers but they're all asking about the nanny, obviously because she jumped off the fucking roof, and they're like, was it nannie on drugs? Blah blah blah. They just keep asking all these insensitive questions because this is the paparazzi, and it's the paparazzi in England, like they don't give a fuck. Oh, they're worse, they're terrible. They killed poor Diana. So the people's princess, the people's princess. Yeah, so these are probably the same exact photographers, honestly. So then as he's trying to make his way through the crowd, he bumps a photographer and it's loopin' and he's again looking all sweaty. The camera falls when he bumps him, and so then mister Thorn savor too. He's like, oh, I'm so sorry. We'll pay you back for the damages. And then the photographers like, let's just say you owe me one. And I was like, I'm sorry. At first, I thought he was going to be bad because he's just so creepy. I figured he wasn't going to be bad. Oh I just can't tell, you know. They say like, yeah, TikTok always has like all these like fake like I don't know things that they generalize as ADHD. And one of the things that comes up often is like, oh, people with ADHD are so good at telling where the movie's going because they're so intuitive. And I'm like wow, because I'm not, like I legit thought he was gonna be evil. I can't. I don't know what's happening. So yeah, I thought he was gonna be evil. Okay. So then he goes inside his uh I don't know office and he gets told that there's a father Brennan there to see him. So Father Brennan tells him like, oh, we don't have a lot of time. Saber Tooth is like time for what Father Brennan tells him. You have to accept our Lord and savior. And I'm just gonna say, if you're gonna tell someone that like about all this, don't start like that, because that just sounds like you're trying to convert him. If you start off with that, it's an automatic shutdown, Like yeah, that'd be like that'd be like Mormons at your door, Like I'm shutting the door. I'm not listening to you start with your son is Satan spun? I might listen. Then, So that's where Father Brennon messed up. So Father Brennan, yeah, he's like, that's you have to accept their lord AND's favor. That's the only way you can defeat the Devil's son. Sabre's like, what the hell are you talking about? And then he Father Brennan tells them you let them do it. You have to accept responsibility. He's killed. Before he's killed, he'll kill again. Uh. And then obviously Robert's very confused. He walks away, and then as he's trying to leave, Father Brennon is like, I was there the night your son was born. I saw everything. And then he says, it's mother. I saw its mother. It's mother is a jackal gross. He's like whatever, this guy is clearly like nuts, and so he has father Brennan escorted, and as the father is being kicked out, dragged out, he tells the father. Brennan tells Robert you have to accept the father and drink his blood. And he's being let out. Now he's outside being like dragged down the stairs. And then we see the same photographer Lupin and he's taking pictures and he's the only one to take pictures. I was like, that's so suspicious. Why is he the only one taking pictures? And I was like, he's clearly evil. I was wrong. So then we see Robert getting home. He asks Kate how they search for the nanny is going, and she's like, well, not good. He was like, let him do it, that's what it does. Yeah. Finally, after she's all funked up, he grabs hair's all fucked up, fucking scratch marks. This shouldn't be as funny as it is else, cragging out. I was like, what a little ship. He's just attacking his his fake mom like hair and everything. After him, she looked messed up. He took an out. It was funny. Okay. So now they're home, they speed away from the church. Nobody can see this, so they speed away and Robert is taking care of Kaie. He's like cleaning her in her wounds, her fight injuries. Yeah. She suggests that they call a doctor and he's like, oh, come on, you're not that injured. And she's like, not for me, for Damien. And then he's like for what, He's fine, and he's like, he just fucking attacked me. What do you mean he's fine? But then she's like he's never been sick, which is weird. Kids get sick, but Damien not once. And then Robert's like, oh, he's just a little boy that gets scared. And I'm like, please, this boy just attack your wife, do something. It started me a little bit but didn't really scare me. But I was like that was fun. And then she wakes up and I'm like, okay, what's a dream. That makes more sense. So then Robert walks into Damien's room to like, I don't know, check on him, caress his little face, his little demon face. Yeah. And then I don't know where, there's a dog growling, like we didn't have a dog but hell. And he's like easy, easy, it's the dog. And then it Miss Baylog pop out of nowhere, like where the hell does she come from? From the shadows I don't know, yeah, the shadows of Hell. Yeah, and she's like quiet down to the dog, and the dog listens immediately because it's also from hell. And Robert's like, why is this dog here? Why the other kids don't want to play with him, and then he says they're afraid I'll creepy. So she picks it up. They're gonna go look at the bird. But as they're walking away, all the monkeys start freaking out. The gorilla starts freaking out and then it starts breaking the glass. Everyone's running away. It's creepy, Okay. So now we're back home. Kate is sitting on the bench. She looks like she's done. She's fucking terrified. Yeah, you can tell right away there's something wrong with her. So then Robert walks into the room. He's like, what's going on, and she tells him about the zoo and that there's something wrong with Damien, that he seems so far away. I would have been like, he seems evil, That's how I would have described him. And then she says that she needs to talk to someone and he agrees. Then we see Robert at some event, like maybe some art type event, like he's looking at art. Father Brennan. I'm like, what is he doing there? He walks up to him, and he tells Robert that Kate, his wife, is in great danger that she'll die if he doesn't meet him tomorrow one and so ominous, like what. Then he leaves, and then we see Lupin again looking all sweaty, taking pictures of him. That's just how he is, sweaty, I know, but it's just suspicious. So then we go to their house and Kate is in the bathroom brushing her teeth. It's a very giant, empty white bathroom. So then I was like, weird looking bathroom. Yeah, yeah, it looks like Kim Kardashi. You want to have that bathroom, right, mm hmm yeah, yeah, yeah it does. And so then I was like, this has to be a dream because this bathroom is not real, Like, nobody has a bathroom like this. So then Damien passes by on a scooter, then stairs and scoots away, and she's like oh whatever. She keeps brushing her teeth, and then we have another jump scare and there's someone behind her and a creepy mask. That one got me a little bit more. I was like, oh, I was not expecting that jump scare. There she wakes up and we learn it was a dream. She walks downstairs. It's dark and creepy. Again. Their house is too big. That's another mistake there. Why are you buying a big ass house when you like have one child? Like please? So yeah. She goes to the kitchen and Damien is there and he's making a sandwich in the dark with the knife. She asks if he's okay, and he says nothing. Then he grabs the sandwich and walks past her, still says nothing, but stairs in a really creepy way. And then we cut to the photographer Lupin and he is looking at the most recent pictures of Father Brennan that he took. Then we see Father Brennan under a bridge. It's pouring like the rain is heavy, and it's a classic priest with a hat on shot. Yes, very Exorcist. Yeah yeah, it has to be a nod to the Exorcist. Yeah. And then Robert arrives and he's like, all right, you have five minutes. And then the father quotes something about armagedon blah blah blah blah. I didn't write it down. And then Robert's like, okay, you said my wife was in danger. He's like, get to a point, man, Yeah, the fuck is the point. So then he tells them to go to some town that I can't pronounce. He's like, Boogan Huggin. This is the guy's name, not the town. And then he's like this man there, Boogenhuggen will tell you how the child must die. And then Robert's like what child? And then Father Brennan's like, Damien, what other child he talking about? That child? Like duh, and he's like the son of the devil. And then he tells him, Okay, it's pregnant, and I'm like, why does the father know this? He knows everything. He is all knowing, the father of Lord and Xavier. Robert tells him that's impossible, and Father Brennan's like, that's what they told you. But she's pregnant, and the child will not allow that baby to be born. He'll kill it, and he'll kill your wife and then he'll kill you. And then Robert's like whatever, like leave us alone, you say, don't come near us, and the Father's like, all right, well you'll see me in Hell. We'll spend atturning together. I'm like, what did he do? I think it's because it's towards the end. I don't want to spoil the rest of the movie, but I know what he did, Father Brennan or Robert Okay, yeah, yeah Brenan, Yeah, okay, okay, okay. So then as he's saying this, a woman in red runs by. She's wearing all red and she runs behind the bridge. It was like, what the hell? Yeah, that was weird. I was like, very this has to be symbolic, Like yeah, there was like random like pops of red, yeah, everywhere, And I was like, Satan, Satan, is that you? Is that an ass? And it gets so windy, the rain is heavier than Yeah, people just running by. We see flashes of red in different forms. He's running to the church. Someone bumps him and we know he's not gonna make it. All they started happening. I'm like, he dies, He's about to die. Father Brandon dies right now. So then the gate to the church is locked. He jumps over it. We see like lightning flashing. We see it flash the fence, Like we know something's gonna happen with the lightning because we're resuming it on it. We're focusing on the lightning. So then he keeps running. We also see like a shot of the church and there's a glass window open, like you know those fancy glass like painted windows that churches have. It's open. I'm like, yeah, thank you. Stained glass window a name for this, but yeah, thank you. Yeah I knew MJ was going to know it. It's like horizontal sticking out and I'm like, why is it like that. I've never seen a glass like maybe they were fixing it. I don't know what they were doing, but yeah, it's sticking out. And so we see lightning and he reuns to the church. He tries to open the doors, but there's like the doors are locked from the inside. Well you see the little wood thing fall into place to lock it. That's true. Actually, you're right. So I was like, I was so confused because I was like, okay, if that was like God. First of all, I was like, I couldn't have insane because he can't do stuff inside the church, right you think? So then I was like okay with this God. And then I was like okay, why But you know, I think it was the lightning hitting the church outside. Oh I thought it was a divine intervention. Yeah, me too, that's what I get off ass. Oh you know, it does appear that way, but I think because we keep seeing red it has to do with satamass himself. Lightning hits the top of the church again. This thing at the top, like a pole, like a sharp pole, gets knocked down because of lightning. The pole falls straight down, hits the stained glass window. It shatters, the pole goes through the window, and it pales the father again. Very final destination, like so good, Oh my god. The minute he was in pales, I was like what wow, love it? Yeah, and yeah, just how one thing led to another is yeah, very final destination. Like and I'm wondering which movie came out first now I think final destination. Well, this is a remake. Yeah, so interesting are these deaths? And I haven't seen the original? Are these deaths? Also, it's it's pretty pretty, almost frame for frame a remake. So yeah, the deaths are the same. The only scene that's a little bit different from what I've read is the zoo. The zoo scene is a little different, but other than that, it's yeah, very similar. So then we see Kate and Damien. Then we see Robert and it looks like he's meeting with Kate's psychologists and I was like, this doesn't seem right. So the doctor tells Robert that Kate is having delusions, that Damien is evil, that he's not hers. This is all freaking Robert. How he asks doctor Greer if he believes in God. It's like, how does she know? No, the doc is like, it's not about me. My beliefs have nothing to do with this. Yeah. So then he's like, if you really want to help Kate, you need to consider this abortion, and like an asshole, he's like, no, we're not having this abortion. We need this child, like, not a man controlling a woman's reproductive choices, right, saber Tiths, what are you doing? Then we cut to Miss Baylock and Damien. They're staring at each other while he eats strawberries. So odd. No, it weiring me out so much because I'm like, this child is clearly old enough to feed himself, Like what is this? And then I was like, if you're beating him, why are you getting it all over his chin? It's so he looks creepy because then his lips look extra red. Yeah, and then she stares and he's like, what is she looking at? So then he looks and it's the scooter. They're both looking at the scooter now, and I'm like, what are they doing? Seriously, nowhere didn't we see? Then we see Robert going to Kate's room, and the first thing Kate says is please don't let him kill me. She whispers it all scared. She's so scared, and he's like what. Paul's like, why does every whisper? I had the volume so loud. Yeah, they really are whispering. So he gets right next to her and whispers what and then she repeats it again, please don't let them kill me, and then she falls asleep. So then me cut to Robert driving to their giant house. Is raining a lot, there's dramatic music. He walks inside, all the lights are off. It's be He runs upstairs, turns into the hallway and there's a giant dog growling. It's like, not this fucking dog, and told her to get rid of it. It's supposed to be gone. But then his phone rings and it's Loopin, the photographer, and he's like, hey, it's Loopin, and Robert's like, how'd you get this number? Lupin's like no, no, no, don't hang up. It's not about the camera. Then we see Robert and Lupin together. He's showing them the pictures that he took. Each one has a weird, like I don't know thing in the picture. And then Lupin brings the picture of the father's death from the newspaper, and then the picture he took of the bees, and finally he puts two in two together. Then out of nowhere, I mean, on top of everything, but that included Then out of nowhere, a dog comes and attacks Robert and that jump scared got me a second, Yeah, scared me. A second dog shows up, a tack sloop in. Robert runs up to help them. They run out. The dogs are chasing them. As they're hopping jumping fences, Loop and legs get stuck. Robert helps him, but then the dogs get his arm. Then in the hospital, Miss Baylock and Damien walk up. She asks to see him. The nurse is like no, and then she's like, but he picked these flowers out himself. Then the nurses like still no. Miss Baylock sits him down and then she walks in. She puts the flowers with the rest of them and then removes her little beep thing that calls nurses. Miss Baylock is like, don't worry, it's just me. But Kate is in and out of sleep. Robert is trying to call her, but she doesn't answer. Then inside, Miss Baylock is draping up some medicine in a needle or something. She puts it in through her ivy. Outside, Damien keeps staring at the police. Inside, Kate is trying to scream, but Miss Baylock covered her mouth. Outside, Damien is still staring at the police. Inside, she starts to flatline and Miss Baylog turns off the beeping and kills Kate. She gives her a kiss and walks out and leaves with Damien that kiss was so unnecessary, Like she's just a freaking weird. Oh yeah, she's just a weirdom phone rings and he asks, are you with Kate? We can't hear the conversation, but they tell him Kate is dead. Robert is having a nightmare of creepy images of Damien and Father Brennan. He wakes up when Father Brennan says, drink his blood and I'm guessing that means like the blood of cry is not. Like Lupin walks in this in with some information about the town that has the name derived from Armageddon. Robert says, that's where the guy, right, Okay, Yeah, Boogahugen is the priest and the town town name derived from Yeah, but I can't I didn't write it because it was hard to spell. And then he recites the poem that Father Brennan told him. He tells Lupin that Kate is dead. Then he says then he says he wants Damien dead. They go to this town. It's it's the fake country of that they could think. We can see this militarized border and IDs being checked. They're let through. There's slay mass is real legs everywhere. They're asked for directions until they're pointed to some catacomb looking place, maybe a temple. Robert walks in and says, buggen Hagen. I can't like, I can't say his name fast. It sounds like so intense, how like boogen Hogen, Like you can't like say that seriously, like it's always sious no matter what. Yeah, if you're talking to Bugenhagen I said it wrong, boogen Hogen. It's a serious matter, no matter what. Yeah, yeah, yeah, bugen Hogen asks this, Brennan is dead yet. Then he says they have work to do. He turns around to them, and then we see him telling them it must be done on hollow ground a church also, which actually that reminds me. How can it if the dogs are hell hounds, how can it be in hollow ground? Which would would have been the semis cemetery? Interesting? Interesting? I was like, mmm, well, is the cemetery hollow ground? Yes, it's supposed to be because because they automatically are, because when people are laid to rest, they do a whole blessing of everything. So cemeteries, as spooky as they are, they're supposed to be hollow ground. Maybe the jackal being buried there, like cancel, that's true, that could be it. Yeah, I didn't even think of that. Yeah. Each knife has to be placed in the shape of a cross. The first knife is the most important. Robert is like, this is a child when I raised as my own son. Then Bugenhagen it's like he no, he's in peaceful He tells him that he bears the mark with the six sixes. Robert is like, no, he doesn't have it, and the father is like it's hidden in the hair. Then Robert runs away and says this is insane. But see again with the Scully thing, like shit happens to him. He's like still gaslighting himself, like this isn't real. He's like, after all of this, You've already seen all of this. You saw a fucking jackal. You saw that David's mom is a fucking jackal. And then he's like, took the whole ass trip for what, Kate is dead for what? Yeah, and he still don't believe anything. He would have been mad if I was sloping, Like I did not get bitten by a fucking dog. I'm not about to die for this shit, like so yeah. Then Loopen is like fuck this, I'm doing it. Yeah, but Loopin runs grabs a knife and follows. He tells Robert that he can walk away from this. Looping is like, what about the photographs? What about me? Which fair because I like, again, I'd be mad if I was loop and be like I did not just get my ass mall just for you to do this shit. Yeah. Yeah, Robert tells him to listen to him. To himself that he wants him to stab a child. Robert throws the knives and walks away. Keith. His name is Keith. Yeah, his name is Keith, not looping. I was like in my not this whole time. His name is Keith. He's under his sign. There's a construction going on. Someone knocks a hammer down. The hammer slides and hits the sign, which then falls and decapitates Keith. Robert is again freaked out, very fine, a fintasty lights yes, and I love it. Yeah, it's such it was such a good desk. Like then we see him on the plane holding the knives. When he gets home, it's raining heavily again. He walks into the house and is trying to be quiet. He almost drops a cup and catches it like a ninja, but the door slams. The dog heres and starts running. Robert runs into the pantry, opens the door, and the dog then falls into the cellar. Oh was that the fat pantry ever? Huge, jellish, and even the whole kitchen. I was like, damn, this kitchen alone is like the size of my living room and dining table and kitchen. Yeah yeah, And then on top of that they have like a cellar. Yeah, inane. He creeps up the stairs quietly. It's a pair of scissors. Oh oh, I was like, she didn't. I thought he was gonna kill him. In this moment, I was like, why does he have the scissors and not the knives because cut his hair? Yeahs a big old kitchen knives. Yeah, I have kitchen knives and they're not that big. You cannot cut hair with those, but he does. He sits on Damien's bed. This is where you realize he wants to cut his hair. There giant scissors. Surely they have smaller ones. He's cutting his hair and finds the six six six birthmark. He realizes it's real. Then then nanny jumps behind him and screams. That part scared me. The fucking nanny scared me. I was like, I even yell. I was like, oh, yeah, she came out of nowhere. Yeah, that one got me. She reaches for his leg again and he kicks her. He takes Damien to the car, which I laughed, Oh my god, Yeah, that was so funny. And then the nanny comes back this and she like smashes the windshield. After they get into the car, he pulls away and is heading out, and she appears in from the car again and he just runs her over the way. She just like flew in the air, so and then she flops down to the ground. I was like, damn. He drives over the gate, so police start following him. See, I'm like, why did he do that? Like, why did he just drive normal? Then he would have not caught the attention of the police and he could have killed Damien. Yeah, he could have completed the plan. Damien is then screaming the whole time. He gets to the church and carries Damien inside, who's still screaming. Police are still heading or heading there. Damien is still screaming. No. Roberts starts praying at butter. Damien is like, please, Daddy, don't the police arrive and shoot. Then we get a sad piano music and a cold flag transition. It's Robert a cool flag, Oh, cool flag transition. HiT's Robert's funeral. As the funeral is happening, we see priests from the beginning, I think, but we can't hear the conversation, and we see security tell the president his car is ready and he's holding hands with Damien. He turns around looks at the camera all creepy s BAM movies over that last camera look was Yeah, was creepy. The kid did a fantastic job with the creepy faces. Yeah, and he was perfect for it because he's so pale, and he has these like giant blue eyes, and he looks like a ghost he does. His hair is like very black. They did a fantastic job in casting. Yeah, yeah, he was. I wonder, I wonder what the original kid looks like. I haven't. I haven't seen the original movie. I haven't either, I only read about it. I want to see what this kid looks like. Let's see images. Oh yeah, he's got some long black hair, blue eyes, but he looks smaller. Yeah, it doesn't look as creepy. Yeah. Okay, this this link has the pictures watching the trailer. Oh I haven't seen it, might as well watch it too, Okay, but I love the outfits. Yeah. Oh, he's like he has blonde, blondish hair. It's it's not as creepy as the Black girl. Oh yeah, it's not black. Oh my god, we're watching the We're watching the trailer for the original movie. Oh really, I've seen it on Facebook. Oh that one's scarier. This kid looks funny. Oh oh, the clown is scarier than Damon. Oh, Damien. The monkey scene is better in the OG. Okay, honestly in this O G movie. Just looking at the trailer, the thorns look like they love each other. Mm hmmm, Oh who's jumping out of the window? The mom I think, oh damn, watch the hospital scene is different. Yeah, the one thing I what's a call? I wonder if both of the nannies were like part of the cult, because, like from what I got, obviously, like the last nanny is occultist, but I think the first one is two and especially looks like it in this in the first the original trailer that both yeahs are part of the cult. Okay, it does look better. Oh yeah, the father dies in the same way the trailer. M Okay, I'm gonna have to watch it. I'm gonna have Yeah, I'm gonna have the checkase one out too. Okay. Yeah, final thoughts about the movie. It was better than I remembered. It was cute. I don't think it's like as bad as everybody said it was. Obviously it wasn't like as scary either, But yeah, like if I had to rate it, I would say, like, this is like a six seven out of ten. It's not like amazing, but it's not bad. It's like it's entertaining time. Yeah, it's entertaining. Yeah, I was entertained. It was like a slow burned kind of scary movie and it was funny in parts. So my favorite car meant to be about scary movies is when they're funny. I was like, yeah, we do like to laugh. I can't take shit seriously. It's like I was like, oh my god, this is almost as funny as Malignant. Oh I have to watch that just based on your review because of how bad you said it was. I think it's terrible. But there's the part where you see, like you know the plot, the plot twist that you you finally see what's going on, and I just busted out laughing. It was just it's just so funny. I was like, wait what Yeah, to me, it wasn't bad funny this movie. It's good funny. It's like especially when when Damien snatched his mom's weave off, it was hilarious. That car scene is hilarious. He's like he's he was ready. He was like, you could tell that he was waiting for this give me Candy mom, that Halloween, that one on my birthday. Yeah, yeah, he was serious, like that video. Look you're yeah, yeah, he's like and what he was referring to is the reason he was born. No, it was, it was it was fun. It was fun. Okay, Well, yeah, anything anything else before we end the episode? No, I can't think of anything. No, I don't think so you know what I thought was interesting? Sorry, what I thought was interesting was when they go to Israel and they show the passing and flag in the movie, and like it doesn't shy away from showing how military, militarized everything is. So I thought that was interesting. Uh huh, yeah, I agree. I agree. Okay, well my children are screaming, so yeah, this is a good place to wrap up. I used to say, I mean, this is a fun, classic movie. I thought the first one or the prequel is going to answer just a bunch of questions we had for this one. And I mean, if this was a classic horror, like, I feel like the sequel is going to also be a classic horror. It comes out April fifth, so we're releasing this probably like Tuesday, so that you know, people can listen and then I don't know, go watch the new one when it comes out April fifth.
