The Thing in the Desert and More Haunted Border Stories

The journey from Mexico to the United States is extremely difficult, with dangers at every corner. Now add in a paranormal element and it becomes worse. On today's episode, Cristina shares Mario's encounter with something in the desert, MJ shares a UFO border story and a ghostly border patrol agent. [00:00:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Hi everyone! This is Cristina.

[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is MJ.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is another episode of Espooky Tales, the podcast for all things Espooky.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Today we're talking about border stories.

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Mine, I got scared when I heard mine.

[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh.

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited to share it.

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Excited now?

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. It's good.

[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm a little biased, though, because I found it on YouTube.

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I always forget to check YouTube.

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_01]: That's where I go for all like everything that I think I'm going to find in Spanish.

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just I'm going straight to YouTube.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_01]: That's where they're at.

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_01]: That's great.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So today we don't have a listener's story because MJ has a she has a listener's story.

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_01]: No, she's not a listener.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: She has a family story.

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So my aunt and her kids were on a walk in her little pueblo.

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And they were they go on nightly walks, you know, for my aunt's health

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_02]: because she she had cancer and stuff.

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And she was like, I need a walk, right?

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Like she's in remission, but like she spent a lot of time.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_02]: What is it called?

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And they don't know where like they don't go out much.

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, like in isolation.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Isolation. Yeah.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_02]: So she's like, you know, I'm going to get my health up.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_02]: So there are walking and it's like it's dusk.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_02]: It's all it's like twilight dusk, you know, around that that time

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_02]: the sun is like getting ready to set.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And within like 20 minutes, it would probably be dark.

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's just walking and then she sees like in like this alleyway

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_02]: between two homes, one of her friends' homes and a home that's empty

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_02]: that she knows the family that lives there, but it's like empty,

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_02]: like nobody's living in it.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And she sees in this like alleyway between two homes, this like

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_02]: really tall figure.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's so tall that it's it's like taller than the roofs of the homes.

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just like there swaying back and forth.

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_02]: She described it as like scarecrow like

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_02]: that it was like like super skinny.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm tall.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Super tall, yes.

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God.

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And like just swaying back and forth.

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And she couldn't see if the legs touched her or anything.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_02]: But like all she could see that it was like

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_02]: it had some weird movement to it, right?

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was like human like as in like it has a head, two hands,

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_02]: like some sort of legs and it's just there.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like this gigantic creature and her kids are like,

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_02]: hey, mom, do you see that?

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And she like, you know, she's seeing it and she's like

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: in her head, I have to stay calm.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I have my kids with me.

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, yeah, you know, they're just putting up some decorations.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So she tells the kids like, you know, they're so silly.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Ha, ha, ha.

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, yeah, she's like fake laughing or whatever.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Trying to calm herself and the kids.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_02]: So she's like, you know what?

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's just walk like nothing's there.

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just a decoration.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's ignore it and see if it goes away type thing.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's in her head watching her children,

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_02]: making sure they're not in danger.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like praying in her head and they walk and then

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_02]: they make make like this loop.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_02]: And by the time they come around, this thing is gone.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And she was like, that's weird.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_02]: If it was like a decoration, I mean, we made a loop

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_02]: in like five minutes at most.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Like what was this thing?

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's like no way they could have brought

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_02]: something that big down that fast and put it all away.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_02]: You know? Yeah.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_02]: So like about like a week or two later,

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_02]: the empty house, one of the granddaughters

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_02]: of the original owner comes by and starts surveying the house

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_02]: because they're going to rebuild and knock a lot of the stuff over.

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Right? Like they're just going to demolish it and then rebuild.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_02]: There's like this outdoor oven, you know what I'm talking about?

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It's the ones that are made out of clay, like the barrel.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're like out outdoor.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_02]: There's one right there by where this stick figure thing was.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_02]: OK. Yeah. That area.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like a bunch of junk.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's all the house is falling apart

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_02]: because people haven't lived there for many years.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So they find like this mirror there and the neighbor,

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_02]: which is my aunt's friend, was like, oh, what a pretty mirror.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Can I have it?

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_02]: So the friend takes it from the granddaughter of the owners

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_02]: and just places it in her house.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And then as the granddaughter is like breaking down this

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_02]: this outside oven, a bunch of stuff happens.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Like there is inside, inside the oven, right?

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Inside of it.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_02]: There's snakes, scorpions and toads just filled to the top with them.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_01]: OK, that is very weird.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_02]: I haven't. Why are all these like three different creatures

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_02]: and lots of, you know, the three just harmoniously living together

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_02]: in this in this oven?

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: How did they get there?

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And the snakes wouldn't even like if you guys ever been around snakes,

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_02]: like when I was a kid, it was a very like hilly, grassy area

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_02]: where my school was.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_02]: They speak garter snakes all the all like all the time there.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_02]: They don't do much.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_02]: But if they see you, they kind of like run, right?

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Like they are litter away more like like they don't

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_02]: they don't like fuck around and find out.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_02]: They're either going to bite you or they're going to glitter away.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And these things were just there like that is so weird.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: The frogs didn't jump away.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_02]: The snakes didn't really move, neither did the scorpion.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: It was just like there.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So she's getting like this really bad vibe.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And then she goes to the to the my

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_02]: on Snaver and it's like that mirror. Can I see it? Can I have it back?

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So she's like, what happened?

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Like why do you want it back?

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a pretty mirror.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Like why do you want to take my pretty mirror away from me?

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. So she goes and she starts burning the mirror

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_02]: and burning everything there in the oven.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_02]: All the stuff, all the junk that was there, she just lit it all on fire.

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And she says that she would see like these faces coming to the mirror,

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_02]: like distorted faces that were seen in the mirror,

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_02]: like wanting to come out of it.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And like they were in pain and all this stuff.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And both the friend and the granddaughter

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_02]: of the previous owner were like just looking at themselves like, what the fuck?

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And the granddaughter tells the friend that my grandma, I have like very

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_02]: vivid memories of being a little girl.

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_02]: And my grandma practicing witchcraft.

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, I think this particular spot, which is also the spot that that weird stick figure,

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: which we're calling Slender Man, me and my mom are calling Slender Man,

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_02]: appeared. And she's like, this must have been the place where most of her

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_02]: rituals were done and the mirror was part of that ritual.

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was weird.

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, like even when she lit the whole thing on fire, the snakes didn't move,

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_02]: the frogs didn't move, the scorpions didn't move.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_02]: They just like compiled there.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_02]: It was weird.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_01]: That is very weird.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: The granddaughter did her own cleansing ritual to remove the bad energy, but it was weird.

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Wow. Yeah.

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And that all happened within like two weeks.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Has everything been back to normal?

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess, yeah.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_02]: The friend was like, why'd you give me like a witch's mirror?

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: She's like, I gotta go cleanse my house.

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_02]: But that's as far as I know.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just weird that like this entity almost knew that someone was coming to demolish the house

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_02]: because two weeks before the family started making plans to rebuild and

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_02]: started like tearing down walls and all this shit, like he appeared.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_02]: It appeared.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_02]: We're calling it Slender Man because it's like the way my aunt described it was like

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_01]: tall and skinny.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And tall.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was weird.

[00:08:31] Strange.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Very creepy.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_02]: This next story is from the book Out on Foot, Nightly Patrols and Ghostly Tales of a US

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Border Patrol agent by Rocky Elmore.

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to add that we don't support Border Patrol.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_01]: We just found this story.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we don't.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_02]: It was a spooky story.

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I purposely avoided Border Patrol and Ice Stories because they're all over like the interwebs

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_01]: like, oh, Border Patrol sees ghosts or Ice Agent sees ghosts.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, no, I don't want none of your none of your shit.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_02]: This song is like, I was surprised.

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Sounds pretty.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't agree with what they do, but it was like, oh my God.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But I'll read their spooky story.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll read it.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll use them for entertainment.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_02]: That's what that's what they're good for.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but here we are all about abolish ice.

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_01]: What is it like?

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Melt the ice a while back there was like some stickers that I saw that said that.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, melt the ice.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, is it cool?

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So Rocky was stationed in the 90s at the border fence at Otaim Mountain east of San Diego.

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And the border fence stopped at the foothills of the mountain.

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_02]: It is the roughest terrain on the US-Mexico border.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And there is no lighting there other than what the moonlight or stars provide.

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Rocky goes on to explain that it's so dark out there that he would get

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_02]: out of his vehicle and it would disappear if he got three feet away from it.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_02]: So it is pitch black.

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_02]: That is scary, dark.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Could not be me.

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_02]: No.

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a shitty unethical job.

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And on top of that, a scary one.

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_02]: You have to have some kind of like crazy genes to be doing that shit.

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you have to be evil.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, maybe that's why they fit so well in the pitch black, right?

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_02]: They're part of the darkness makes sense.

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_02]: The Kuma-Yai tribe, I believe, who lived in the area,

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_02]: say it's forbidden for humans to go to Otaim Mountain.

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So the only people who go up there are undocumented people who cross in the BPA.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Rocky goes on to explain how his job at Otaim Mountain was.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_02]: He goes on to say that at one point he viewed himself as the boogeyman,

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_02]: like looking back, he viewed himself as the boogeyman.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_02]: So like, yes.

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_02]: He goes on to say that there was something about the mountain that was not right.

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_02]: There is an almost unnatural quietness in the area.

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Many agents see things in the mountain and most won't go on record.

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_02]: However, once you make friends, a lot will open up until you stories.

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_02]: And everyone knew the story of Louis Santiago.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Agent Santiago was originally from Ponce PR

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_02]: and everyone at training knew how terrified Santiago was about being killed on the job.

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_02]: He would do what I would describe as talk about worst case scenarios all the time.

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_02]: If this happens, dot, dot, dot, you will die.

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_02]: If this happened, death.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So he was like doom talking the entire time during training.

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the opposite of, okay, so what I would do and like all of us really

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: we'd be sitting, this is so morbid.

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, what is wrong with me?

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Like we'd be sitting there super bored and like, I don't know,

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_01]: the middle of the desert or whatever.

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, okay, what if I just sat under, there was like this big tank.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we call it a camel.

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_01]: What do we call it?

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Water buffalo.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So it held all the water where we refilled our camel backs of water.

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm like, what if I just laid under the water buffalo?

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_01]: One of you opened the faucet and I just like laid there.

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And that was the end of me.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_01]: That's fine.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_01]: What if I just got in front of like this,

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna say, because for an example, like just shut like that, like,

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I get that.

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Cause I'm like, man, can the earth just swallow me right now?

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Please.

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So when I have responsibility,

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_02]: they're like, yeah, yeah.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And there is just follow me and just like, oh my God.

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's not, what if we just crashed?

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we talked about this in the other episode, the one with the,

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_01]: What episode was it?

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Not that long ago.

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Juarez.

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_01]: It was the ghost story from Juarez.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't do that.

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't mind being injured, but if I have to see something that scares me,

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_02]: like no, this is this stop.

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_01]: In your story, there was like, they were driving and everyone's like,

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_01]: what if we just crashed and you were like, what the fuck is wrong with them?

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, you don't do that.

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I used to do that all the time with everyone.

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, what if we just,

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I do that if I have responsibilities.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And I want to get out of them.

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, man, this would be a perfect time to get like really sick right now.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Like hospital sick.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't have to go to this.

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It's usually like gatherings and functions.

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, man, there's going to be people.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Can I just be sick?

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Can I get like a really bad case of the flu?

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll take explosive diarrhea right now for a wedding.

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be on my work break, like walking to get my food and I'm like,

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: a car should just hit me, but not a lot.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Just a little bit so I can get some money.

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like every time I cross, I'm like, hit me.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Give me that guap.

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Give me it.

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh man.

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Please someone just like, I need you a little bit.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Just to break my legs slightly.

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God.

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's let's get back to your story.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_01]: This was the journey.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Just give me that money then.

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Insurance money.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_02]: The night Rocky was supposed to be working with Santiago,

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Rocky became sick so he stayed home.

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_02]: That night he was awoken by a beeping noise.

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_02]: It sounded like a distress call and it was coming from his closet

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_02]: where he kept his equipment for work.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_02]: He opened his closet door and took out his walkie-talkie

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_02]: and it was off.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_02]: He says radio and walkie-talkie interchangeably, but I just like the word.

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_01]: You're just going to say walkie-talkie?

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a fun word.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_02]: It is.

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_02]: It's weird and I like it.

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was off, but it continued making this beeping sound

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_02]: even when it was turned off.

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_02]: So he thought it was short circuiting.

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So he turned it on and turned it off again

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_02]: and that's when the beeping stopped.

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_02]: He looked over at the clock and it said 1202.

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_02]: The next morning Rocky got a call that they had

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_02]: detected traffic coming up the cliffs at one of the canyons.

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Agent Santiago for some reason had decided to separate from the training officer.

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_02]: He ran to the top of the hill.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_02]: No one knows why he did this or if he saw anyone else up there

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_02]: or if he was pushed.

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_02]: The training officer and other trainees heard him scream

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and his flashlight tumbled down the cliff.

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_02]: He landed on the rocks below.

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_02]: It had killed him instantly.

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God.

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And this was the next day or the when he was hearing the beeping?

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It was the night while he was sick.

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So he just learned about it the next day.

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, he's learning.

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I get it now.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but the time of death is estimated at one or two minutes after midnight.

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I knew it.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_02]: So when his beeping was going off.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Officially his death is ruled an accident.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Since his death many smugglers and guides have come forward

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_02]: with possible information about his death.

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Rocky believes that there was a smuggler up there that pushed him over.

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Rocky was in the processing area of the prison.

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_02]: One of Rocky's friends, Bill came over and told him that a group of prisoners had seen Santiago.

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Rocky thought that they were mocking his death,

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_02]: but Bill explained that they had seen Santiago up on a mountain.

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_02]: One night they had a group of roughly 30 people walking.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_02]: The BPA were watching them waiting to apprehend them.

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_02]: All of a sudden they stopped walking.

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_02]: They are radioing back and forth.

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, who was radioing back and forth?

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, the unit was radioing back and forth.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Waiting for this group to begin walking because they just stopped.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're like, what's going on?

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Why did you stop?

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're like, the unit was radioing back and forth.

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, okay, we'll walk when they start walking, but they never did.

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_02]: So Rocky says it was almost as if someone had stopped them

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_02]: when the unit reached the group, they were standing in the middle of the road.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Many were crying, but they were just standing there.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_02]: They found this odd.

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_02]: They started telling the unit that they saw a phantom BPA,

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and this phantom had blocked them and told them that they were not going to pass

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_02]: and they were going to wait here.

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_02]: He identified himself as Luis Santiago.

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_02]: They thought that it was another agent playing a trick.

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_02]: After a while, group after group would have encounter with the specter.

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_02]: It was then that Rocky and his co-workers were like,

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_02]: hey, maybe it isn't another BPA playing a sick joke.

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it is the ghost of Luis Santiago.

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Dang.

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_02]: It happens often that the story of Luis Santiago just became so normal to talk about

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_02]: of his ghost encounter that everyone was talking about it in the border patrol.

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_02]: As time went on, Santiago's apparition began to move towards the dam at Altai Lakes.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Traffic began to slow in the area as it became known across the border what was happening.

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Migrants were scared to see the ghost.

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Many of the agents didn't want to work in the area.

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_02]: They were scared.

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_02]: In one case, a group of migrants were left behind by their guide.

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_02]: They had run out of food and water.

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_02]: They said that a BPA came to them last night.

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_02]: They said he didn't seem real.

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_02]: He told them if you follow this trail, you will find water.

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_02]: They did what he told them to do and he saved their lives.

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Wow. Okay. That's nice.

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_02]: That was nice.

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_02]: To Rocky, this was a sign that Santiago's vendetta was towards the guides

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_02]: because he was saving the migrants that weren't with guide.

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, shit.

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_02]: The only time he helped anyone was when they were without a guide, smuggler.

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay. You know what? I kind of like him now.

[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And it gets crazy.

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I think he was hoping to catch the man who killed him.

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Rocky had survivor skills.

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_02]: He wondered if he had not been sick and gone to work that night

[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_02]: if Santiago would have been alive.

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_02]: On January 22, 1996, there was a group detected coming up the cliffs.

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_02]: The group began screaming that a BPA was shooting at them

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_02]: and chasing them towards the same cliff Santiago died at.

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Six people went off the cliff.

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_02]: One person was killed instantly.

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_02]: The man killed was the smuggler.

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Agent Arlo was accused of being the shooter.

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_02]: He was the first BPA to respond to the call.

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_02]: The FBI got involved.

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_02]: They tested his hands and his gun,

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and it was determined that he did not fire his weapon.

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_02]: So the remaining migrants who didn't go off the cliff

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_02]: were asked to identify the shooter in a lineup.

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_02]: The FBI asked the migrants if it was Agent Arlo.

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_02]: The migrants were like, nope, it was a different agent.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Another BPA went and got a picture of Santiago

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_02]: without telling the FBI the story.

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_02]: He told them, hey, show this to the migrants

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_02]: and ask if this was the agent they saw.

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_02]: They identified the man in the picture.

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_02]: The FBI agent was like, okay, bring this man so we can arrest them.

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_02]: The BPA was like, well, we can't.

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_02]: We can't. He's dead.

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. The FBI agent was confused and asked why not.

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And they told him because that's Santiago

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and he died a year ago.

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Damn.

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Rocky believed Santiago got revenge for his death

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_02]: and that the guy who was killed on January 22nd

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_02]: was the one who killed them.

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Because after that night, there was no more sightings of Santiago.

[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_02]: The night of his memorial, the same beeping

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_02]: was coming from Rocky's walkie-talkie in the closet.

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_02]: He looked at the clock and it once again said 1202.

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Damn. That's wild.

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. And I heard the story on Snap Judgment.

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_02]: It has a great segment on this

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_02]: and Rocky tells the story himself.

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Really? I need to listen to that podcast.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. It's a 15-minute listen and Rocky,

[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_02]: he tells it way better than I do.

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_02]: He loved it. So he knows.

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And I want to speak on Santiago's behavior before he died.

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_02]: He experienced impending doom.

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And I've heard that many doctors and nurses take this as a sign

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_02]: and many doctors will actually cancel surgery

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_02]: and reschedule as the patient has impending doom.

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Really?

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. And many, when they hear this phrase,

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_02]: they start preparing for the worst.

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Like if it's at an ER and one of the patients is like,

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I have impending doom.

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_02]: The nurses are like, okay, shit's about to go down.

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_02]: It's almost prophetic.

[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And while many say it's just mumbo-jumbo,

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_02]: perhaps it could be a sign of someone's health.

[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Like the body can be warning you like,

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_02]: hey babes, we're dying and we're going to give you anxiety

[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and warning of your health.

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey babes.

[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, I heard it's like with a fever and infection

[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_02]: or pain with injury.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_02]: It's very bad anxiety to warn you of your health.

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Like does that make sense?

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Like there's something wrong.

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Your body is warning you.

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's a symptom.

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God. So they are associated obviously,

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we both know this, but with anxiety

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and panic disorder.

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So like panic attacks, but they are also the impending doom

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_01]: feeling is a thing with physical health conditions

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: like life-threatening allergic reactions and heart attacks.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. That's something like if you have impending doom,

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_02]: go get it to checked out.

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's your body like, you know, ringing alarms.

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And in Santiago's case, I think it was more of a mental thing.

[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_02]: But impending doom, if it's like it's the,

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_02]: what I think the most severe form of anxiety maybe.

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I think so.

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't know a person who can like think clearly

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_02]: when they have anxiety.

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't.

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I've had panic attacks and you know, there's,

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_02]: there's fight, flight and freeze.

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I freeze.

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And if I get like a panic attack in the middle of anywhere,

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to end up injured because they don't move,

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_02]: especially if like there's like danger coming my way.

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't think clearly because all I feel is the panic.

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know anything anymore.

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Or I guess I, I don't know if any panic attacks

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_01]: where you're like running around really.

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess some people have them for like a long time too

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_01]: because like mine were like, I don't know, like 10 minutes.

[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I would like,

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You would freeze and then like.

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Your fingers get all like tens like almost like locked.

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah.

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I get moved when I get a panic attack.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I just like sit in the same position

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_02]: or like stand in a single position

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_02]: until it goes away.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_02]: But having severe anxiety like Santiago had,

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_02]: he's not going to be in the mental state

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_02]: to make correct decisions.

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_01]: No.

[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And which explains why he just like detached from the group

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_02]: and was like here, let me go on this mountain by myself.

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And also if a job is giving you impending doom

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_02]: and is your mental health like that, leave it.

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_02]: It's affecting your health.

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_01]: It's causing damage to your health.

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Leave it.

[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not even worth it.

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not especially border patrolling ice.

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a shitty unethical job and you're risking your health for it.

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Like come on.

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_01]: No, that's a wild story.

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I got to listen to that episode you were talking about.

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I linked it.

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_02]: It's on the second.

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I gotta remember to put it in the show notes.

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good story though.

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Damn.

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to our little haunted break.

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I titled it A Thing in the Desert.

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess the monster in the desert would be better.

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so more than 10 years ago,

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Mario decided to migrate to the United States to find work.

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_01]: He had been looking forward to this since he was a young boy.

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Going back and forth from the United States to Mexico was a normal thing in his family.

[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And the first time you do it, like the first crossing, the first trip,

[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_01]: was almost like a rite of passage for especially men in his like hometown.

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Because of this trip, and he went, he did it, and then he vowed to like never do it again.

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_01]: He's not going back and forth after what he saw.

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So the preparation for the trip was strange to Mario.

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_01]: He didn't really know much about it, but he was instructed to carry an extra pair of

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_01]: sneakers and then paint his water bottles black so that they wouldn't glare in the sun

[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and give their location away.

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_01]: When he traveled, there was 12 other migrants with him and then

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_01]: El Coyote, the smuggler.

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So they went, they encountered their first danger while crossing El Rio Bravo,

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_01]: because you know it's a very dangerous river.

[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And crossing was extremely, it still is extremely difficult during this

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_01]: two people from the group, a mother and her three year old son almost drowned,

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_01]: but another man was able to save them.

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_01]: But as soon as they got over, there was no time to even like celebrate.

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_01]: They had to hide like wherever they could because Border Patrol was due to pass by soon.

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So everyone ran and hid and like clockwork Border Patrol drove by.

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Luckily no one was caught.

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And now even though they were like across the river in the United States,

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_01]: the trip really felt like it was just beginning.

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_01]: They still had a long way to the safety house.

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_01]: The walk was days long at the very least.

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And the duration of this journey for them, it didn't depend on the distance.

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_01]: That didn't matter.

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It depended on the pace of the group, everyone's pace.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And so as they walked, they had to be careful because there's poisonous snakes

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: about scorpions, you know, they're in the desert.

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And El Coyote, he's ahead of everyone and everyone's following him.

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So he would warn them if there was something nearby.

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing happened to anyone with like wildlife.

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_01]: They were all safe from that.

[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_01]: They stopped every once in a while for water breaks or small, small like resting breaks.

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_01]: It was hard on everyone, especially the young mother and her three year old son.

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_01]: At times she would carry him.

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_01]: At other times she would ask him to walk.

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And the three year old he listened right away.

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_01]: He would start to walk, but he's three.

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_01]: The son speeding down on him.

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a lot for his tiny little legs.

[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't even, I cannot imagine I would die.

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So I can only imagine a three year old.

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I'll tell you, everyone that makes this journey, I'm like, how?

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I don't know.

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't do it.

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Super human at Ben's.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I mean, they have to be with what other choice do they have?

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_01]: And so this little, this little three year old, he would, you know,

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_01]: start to cry until she carried him again.

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And other people would help her too.

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But he would cry and cry, like, can we go back home now?

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And everyone knew there was no return.

[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_01]: There was no back home for them.

[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_01]: They had to keep going.

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Night arrived and everyone set themselves up according to the Coyotes instructions.

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_01]: They had to be a certain distance apart from each other and kind of hid in behind bushes

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_01]: to attempt to obscure themselves from any helicopters flying by,

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_01]: any like cars driving by just to try and hide.

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And a Coyote instructed them to run towards a specific hill if Border Patrol arrived.

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Everyone had to reconvene at this hill.

[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, he pointed them to it like we're all running that way if anything happens.

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And the Coyote said he would be waiting for them there.

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Unless he was captured and, you know, taken into custody, then he would not be there.

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And if that was the case, he instructed the group, like,

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_01]: if you think you can make the trip, keep going.

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_01]: You have to go north and north and north and like only if you think you can make it,

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_01]: if you cannot make it, you have to turn yourself into Border Patrol.

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Like there are those are the two options.

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because I mean, at the end of the day that desert is deadly.

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And while we think and we know that the Border Patrol is unethical,

[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_02]: it's not worth to die.

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's like groups.

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I know Border Angels is one of them, but they'll go out and leave water bottles and

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_01]: these agents go out and destroy these water bottles on purpose.

[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: When they could just leave them there, what harm is it to just get someone water?

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's messed up.

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Luckily the group was safe for that night.

[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And then morning came the group continued.

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Mario had twisted his ankle at some point.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And so he was walking slower than everyone else.

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: He was about 20 meters behind everyone else behind the group.

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: He could still see them.

[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And then that's when he heard something, a man asking for help behind him.

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But Mario knew he was the last one in formation.

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he's like, that's weird.

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: But he turned around and just like he expected no one was behind him.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: So he kept walking.

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_01]: He turned around and kept walking trying to catch up to the group.

[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he heard, oh yeah, estoy atrapado.

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_01]: AyĂşdame.

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, help.

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm trapped.

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He turned around again.

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing, no one, nothing behind him.

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So he started walking towards the bush because he kind of heard like the sound,

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_01]: like what this voice he was like, maybe it's someone off to the side over there.

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe they are stuck.

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So he was like walking towards this bush and from up front, you know, 20 meters ahead

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the coyote saw Mario and he yelled like, what are you doing?

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And he signaled for him to catch up to the group.

[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So Mario did.

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And when he got there, he explained to the coyote that he heard someone behind him.

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And the coyote used this opportunity to warn everyone like,

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_01]: hey, the extreme heat of the sun can cause you to see things, to hear things

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: that are in there.

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: This is normal.

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Do not listen to these hallucinations.

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what this reminds me?

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So slightly of the Abolition Mountains, how they say like the old talk.

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I love Appalachia TikTok.

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_02]: That's my favorite.

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like on it for like a memory last night and I was like, oh my god, this is so interesting.

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_02]: But yes, it reminds me of that.

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever listened to the, it's an old podcast now, but the old gods of Appalachia?

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_02]: No.

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so good.

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like a fiction voice acted, like actually I don't know if it's voice acted or if it's the same guy

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and he writes all these stories.

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_01]: It's I listened to like two episodes and I forgot about it.

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go back and listen because it was so good.

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm not going to listen to that.

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Man, I was like how do people write?

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: How are people so good at writing?

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I wish.

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I wish I could.

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_01]: So back to this.

[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_01]: So the group took a break after this and Mario used this break to put some bomb on his

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_01]: ankle and then the coyote at this point told him he should have brought some quote on quote magic powder

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_01]: with him for Mario, but Mario had no interest in drugs ever and he was like,

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_02]: no, my body's the tempo.

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Although honestly I would not because like, yeah, it's going to help you for a little bit,

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_01]: but I think then when it's over and it's worn out, you're going to feel even worse.

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And then their break was over.

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_01]: They continued walking about half an hour into the walk.

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Mario was behind everyone again because his ankle is hurt.

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, he starts walking, but he starts slowing down and slowing down and then gets

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_01]: 20 meters behind everyone or more.

[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, dang.

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Because you know, he has an ankle and he heard a voice.

[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_01]: You're going the wrong way.

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Mario paused for a second, but thought about what the coyote told him.

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So he kept walking.

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Then he heard again, I'm thirsty.

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Can I have water?

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Mario kept walking.

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_01]: He was like, nope, I'm not turning around.

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he heard again, he's lost.

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_01]: He's leading you all the wrong way.

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And so then he whipped around and again, no one after all this, he turned back

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_01]: around and saw that the group was now 100 meters ahead of him.

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Holy shit.

[00:34:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So he tried to walk faster and then he heard again.

[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_01]: He's leading you straight to La Migra.

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I can show you the right way.

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And Mario walked faster.

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_01]: He was catching up to the group and then he heard, I'm thirsty.

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Give me water or give me blood.

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that went from zero to 100.

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Too quick.

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_02]: That escalated quickly.

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that took a turn.

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So then Mario was like, no, I'm running.

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm running as fast as I can.

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Fuck my ankle.

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So he ran.

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_01]: He ran and he caught up to everyone.

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And when he got to the group, he was visibly shaken.

[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And the others began to ask him what was wrong.

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And he told them, but El Coyote, he interrupted again,

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_01]: reminding everyone that hallucinations are normal.

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And Mario didn't believe El Coyote.

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_01]: He was like, no, no, there's something else in this desert.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_01]: But they took a little break.

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And they continued to walk.

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And despite the pain, Mario stayed with the group as best as he could.

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_01]: He was very scared to fall behind.

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't blame him.

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And now it was nighttime, the group stopped.

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_01]: They spread out like, you know, their plan to hide and spread out.

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And everyone tried to sleep.

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Toward the middle of the night, there was a scream.

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God.

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It was the young mother.

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Mario thought someone was like trying something, you know?

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And so he was ready to be like, no, not here.

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You're not doing that here.

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_01]: And she was screaming and screaming.

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_01]: But she was screaming, someone took him, something took him.

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And then she screamed that El Coyote was missing.

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And everyone looked around and they were like,

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_01]: well, maybe he went to the bathroom and she was like, no,

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_01]: there was a sound over by that bush over there.

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And he went over there to see what it was.

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he was dragged away by his feet.

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, fuck no.

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And the group yelled out for him, but nothing.

[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And no one could sleep.

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_01]: By then it was morning and they looked around.

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Like maybe he left something, but they found no clues, nothing.

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And they decided to keep walking north because I mean, there are a lot.

[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Like now they don't have a guide, but they got to keep moving.

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_01]: After 20 minutes, Mario found himself falling behind again.

[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he heard help.

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_01]: It took me and it sounded like El Coyote.

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_02]: This is exactly like the Appalachian Mountains.

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_02]: No, it's horrifying.

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Like you, what is the thing?

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_02]: If you heard it, no, you didn't.

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_02]: If you saw something, no, you didn't.

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, how many, I think I've heard it too.

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Like if something is calling your name, you don't turn around.

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, in Eddie Forest.

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Just continue walking.

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And Mario didn't think it was El Coyote.

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_01]: He turned around, but there was nothing again.

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So he kept walking.

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he heard again, I'm thirsty.

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Give me your blood.

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And this was in the first voice that he had heard.

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_01]: So he ran again and cut up to the group.

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And now he stayed.

[00:37:18] [SPEAKER_01]: He stayed in the middle.

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like me.

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I need like a really serious consequence in order to get my work done.

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Right?

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And his ankle was throbbing, but he was like,

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I'd rather lose my foot than find out what that voice is.

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, yeah.

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, same, same.

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_01]: So they continued walking.

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And then another man started yelling like another man in the group.

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Like the thing took him, the thing took him.

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: This man that was yelling, he was 18 and he like was yelling for everyone to turn around.

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And he pointed at the road behind him and he was like,

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_01]: it's taking him, it's taking him.

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And he was holding on to his friend while the rest of the group like caught up to him.

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And then they all sighed a humanoid figure.

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh.

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Not quite person looking at all, but just the figure of a person like, you know,

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_01]: a human shape, but it looked more snake like.

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh.

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_02]: A reptilian.

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's what I imagined because in the story he said a snake human hybrid.

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know.

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But this being was pulling at this young man's friend.

[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And so they all started throwing rocks at this thing to try and save him.

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_01]: The guy that was being pulled away.

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's when they heard a gunshot.

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Mario was expecting to see La Migra, but he turned around and it was an American rancher.

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The American rancher fired again and this thing slithered away.

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.

[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_01]: It fast.

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So it like.

[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And the poor, I mean, like granted the migrants get to leave that area,

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_02]: but the American rancher has to stay there.

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Right?

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Mm hmm.

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Gross.

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Gross.

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like gross.

[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's like, I just imagine like a person going and like hiding like a humanoid figure

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and then like, well, I'm just going to slithery snake out of here.

[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a slithery snake.

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God.

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And then the American asked them in sloppy Spanish, Estos being my sloppy Spanish.

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I tried.

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, are you guys OK?

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And everyone said yes, but they were lost.

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The man gave them a ride to a safety house.

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_01]: So not only is he saving them, but he's also an ally.

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_01]: An armed ally.

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And on the way to the safety house, he told the group that they,

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_01]: he and his rancher friends, they've come across this thing before.

[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And it always gets away.

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So Mario spent some time in the safety house and he wanted to thank the man

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_01]: before heading back to Mexico.

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he was like, I'm not even going to stay in the United States.

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Like fuck this shit.

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Y'all are weird.

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_02]: The Chileans running wild over here, eating people up,

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_02]: snatching people, hijacking kids,

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_02]: hide your wives, the reptilians throughout the year.

[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, seriously.

[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_01]: There's something in that desert.

[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And so Mario wanted to thank him for helping them.

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_01]: But then he saw on the news that the man had gone missing

[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_01]: and the news blamed the cartels for him being missing.

[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_02]: A reptile cartel.

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But Mario suspected, yeah, that it was the thing in the desert.

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And shortly after that, he returned to Mexico

[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and vowed to never make that trek again.

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_02]: No, that's so, it's just like, it's gross.

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't ask me.

[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just it's creepy.

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so creepy.

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_02]: It is.

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_02]: The next story is by Rhett, is on Reddit from subreddit.

[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_02]: The truth is here username Ori15N.

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I have not seen that subreddit.

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, me either.

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And it says my dad's creepy story as a Border Patrol agent.

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And it says, I told my story about the Yorona encounter

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_02]: or not a few days ago.

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_02]: My dad had a very similar story, but this is what,

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_02]: this is way better.

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_02]: My dad was working on River Patrol late one night

[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_02]: when he was told that a group of six people were heading his way.

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So he was trying to meet and had them off.

[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_02]: His camera operator was on the radio telling him every move

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_02]: that they made.

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_02]: The camera guy said he was watching them come from under a bridge now.

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Dad knew exactly where that was and started to run that direction.

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Camera bro, like I said, camera bro,

[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_02]: camera bro said they stopped at the bank of the river

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_02]: under the bridge on the Texas side, which was odd.

[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_02]: My dad says they knew that the BP was usually watching the banks

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_02]: around that bridge very carefully.

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Most people crossing rushed to get past that area

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_02]: and ran to a thick brush about a half a mile away.

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Camera dude was telling my dad that nobody else was around.

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_02]: He could see the cameras from miles all around.

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And the only people around were my dad and six migrants

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_02]: and my dad's backup, which was five minutes away.

[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_02]: My dad decided to wait on them to climb up.

[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_02]: So he crouched by a tree and watched through his night vision.

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Nobody came.

[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Camera guy said that they were acting freaked out under the bridge.

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So dad started to walk down to them.

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Then he heard it, a scream that matched what I had heard as well.

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Dad who has seen and heard his fair share of shit

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_02]: that it was nothing like he had ever heard.

[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_02]: He had heard a woman scream before,

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_02]: a woman in pain or fear due to the nature of his job.

[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Just like any, I don't know what, Leo?

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_02]: L-E-O?

[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_02]: L-E-O.

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, law enforcement officer.

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, law enforcement officer.

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Federal or municipal.

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_02]: He said his, this scream was borderline inhumane,

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_02]: yet it was in pain and it was female.

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_02]: My dad thought someone was hurt.

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So he ran down the banks of the river

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and tried to find the group of migrants.

[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Camera guy let dad know that they had acted

[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_02]: like they heard something, assuming that it was my dad

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_02]: that they saw her and took off.

[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_02]: They left their food, water and belongings as well.

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_02]: My dad had had the entire area searched for a hurt woman.

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Nothing was seen or found.

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And that was when my dad said he first heard

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_02]: the story of La Llorona as well.

[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_02]: A co-worker jokingly told him

[00:43:28] [SPEAKER_02]: that he nearly got mistaken for her son.

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_02]: He was a young guy at the time.

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_02]: My dad experienced happen within the same summer

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_02]: that I had mine about 12 years ago.

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And this user goes on to further explain

[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_02]: that the infrared camera didn't pick up anything

[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_02]: that can make this scream.

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_02]: While many suggested it's a bobcat and other animals,

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_02]: he claims that it would have been seen

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_02]: on the camera bros camera, infrared camera.

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's what the migrants are probably like.

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_02]: F this shit.

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_01]: They were like, we know.

[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Like La Llorona, we're out.

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_01]: We know, you don't know.

[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Y'all don't know but we know.

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_02]: We know.

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Like in the movie, The Curse of La Llorona

[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and all the house workers leave.

[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_01]: When they start, like everyone just goes and

[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_01]: because they know.

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_01]: They know.

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they know.

[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_02]: They know.

[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_02]: It's y'all that don't know.

[00:44:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, look at her doing the Lord's work.

[00:44:25] Yeah.

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we're on her side.

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_02]: So we said this.

[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_02]: She needs a hotline.

[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So this next story is from the book Strange Things

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_02]: with Chris James.

[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And he has many, many paranormal stories

[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_02]: of different kinds.

[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And this takes place in February 14, 2011.

[00:44:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's a story by BP8 Chavez.

[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_02]: We were working the evening shift north of Laredo.

[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_02]: We had stopped on our unit on the north side of 44,

[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_02]: just west of the Ranch House Cafe.

[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And we were outside looking around waiting for traffic.

[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_02]: We both noticed a bright spherical light moving

[00:45:07] [SPEAKER_02]: from north to southwest of Highway 83.

[00:45:10] [SPEAKER_02]: It could have been over Mexico.

[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_02]: It was moving very fast.

[00:45:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Then it came to a complete stop, never sung down.

[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Just stop shortly after it moved upward a bit.

[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Three smaller bright orbs dropped out of the bottom

[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_02]: of the larger bright shape.

[00:45:26] [SPEAKER_02]: The three lights formed a triangular shape,

[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_02]: two on top and one on the bottom.

[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_02]: The three dropped to just above the horizon.

[00:45:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Then began flying south very fast.

[00:45:38] [SPEAKER_02]: We had grabbed our NVG, Night Vision goggles,

[00:45:42] [SPEAKER_02]: and watched them.

[00:45:44] [SPEAKER_02]: They were clear through the lenses.

[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_02]: That was when we noticed a big sphere had

[00:45:49] [SPEAKER_02]: suddenly moved over our heads.

[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_02]: It took just seconds to get from the Mexican area

[00:45:54] [SPEAKER_02]: right over to us.

[00:45:55] [SPEAKER_02]: My partner asked, dude, are you seeing this?

[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I responded, do you feel that?

[00:46:00] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like electricity.

[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_02]: They could both feel electricity crawling across their skin.

[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it's freaking me out.

[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Neither agent took time to look down to see

[00:46:09] [SPEAKER_02]: if the light was showing at their feet,

[00:46:12] [SPEAKER_02]: neither wanting to take their eyes off the sphere.

[00:46:15] [SPEAKER_02]: The big light began to blink.

[00:46:18] [SPEAKER_02]: The blinking light would travel along the edge of the sphere

[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_02]: one larger than the others in a sequence of four lights.

[00:46:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Then in the blink of an eye,

[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_02]: the spherical light had moved back to the area near Mexico.

[00:46:31] [SPEAKER_02]: It turned and began to travel to the north

[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_02]: as the sphere was moving away.

[00:46:35] [SPEAKER_02]: The three smaller lights came after it

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_02]: until all the lights have formed back into one.

[00:46:41] [SPEAKER_02]: The sphere disappeared to the north.

[00:46:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Chavez goes on to say that there are a lot of UFO stories

[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_02]: by BPA, but they don't talk about it.

[00:46:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Chris James has a lot more UFO stories

[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_02]: and if you guys want to check that out.

[00:46:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But this was the only border one I found.

[00:46:58] [SPEAKER_02]: They were too calm for my liking.

[00:47:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Like this thing is over you and you're just chill, like psychos.

[00:47:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, hey, they're evil.

[00:47:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, I mean, again, it matches with, you know, they're like

[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_02]: black soul, but they're just way too calm.

[00:47:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I'd be like freaking out and call my mom and be like,

[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Mom, I'm going to go to another planet.

[00:47:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.

[00:47:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I love mom.

[00:47:23] [SPEAKER_01]: They're taking me by.

[00:47:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Bye.

[00:47:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Take her with my kids.

[00:47:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Tell them I'm in space now.

[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_02]: What's the cop?

[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't worry.

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll bring back a souvenir.

[00:47:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll jack something.

[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_02]: But no, I like I die like right then and there.

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_02]: They're too calm for my liking.

[00:47:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:47:47] [SPEAKER_02]: My dumb ass will try to run.

[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty calm in emergency situations,

[00:47:52] [SPEAKER_01]: but a paranormal situation I would probably freak out.

[00:47:57] [SPEAKER_01]: As we've said many times, I would I would actually be in denial

[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and pretend that it wasn't happening.

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Nope.

[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Are you seeing this light?

[00:48:06] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like right overhead, just like shining bright on you.

[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't see anything.

[00:48:10] [SPEAKER_01]: It's literally like in my face.

[00:48:12] [SPEAKER_01]: What light?

[00:48:13] [SPEAKER_01]: What blue light?

[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm lying.

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I just lost my vision.

[00:48:17] [SPEAKER_02]: What are you guys talking about?

[00:48:18] [SPEAKER_02]: What light?

[00:48:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't have my glasses on.

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what tiny big headed humanoids.

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Are you speaking of?

[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I see nothing denial is a river.

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And you just.

[00:48:30] [SPEAKER_01]: What flying saucer with weird lights in the sky that is above us

[00:48:34] [SPEAKER_01]: right now?

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Are you talking about it?

[00:48:36] [SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing there.

[00:48:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Denied, denied, denied.

[00:48:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll gas like myself.

[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, for real, I would.

[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I totally would.

[00:48:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Like did I just say no, I didn't brain we're pressing delete.

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, yeah, press delete.

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Blocking it out of my mind.

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think I've told you and on the podcast before,

[00:48:56] [SPEAKER_01]: but my mom said I saw a UFO and I don't remember it.

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So like obviously it's happened.

[00:49:02] [SPEAKER_02]: You just pressed delete.

[00:49:03] [SPEAKER_02]: You're like, nope, it didn't happen, mom.

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_02]: What you talking about?

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I got to track down everyone else in the neighborhood

[00:49:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and ask them because my mom said everyone was out there

[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and asked him if they saw something starting with my brother.

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Was it in Modesto?

[00:49:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:49:16] [SPEAKER_02]: So I lived on.

[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Modesto always has weird shit happening.

[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I remember that was that way.

[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we've said that in 2011, 2012,

[00:49:25] [SPEAKER_02]: where people all over the Central Valley were seeing this UFO.

[00:49:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this must have been like 2008 or 2009 probably at most.

[00:49:35] [SPEAKER_01]: But I live like, so I mean, I think you know where Hanshaw,

[00:49:39] [SPEAKER_01]: do you know where Hanshaw was at?

[00:49:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:49:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so and then if you kept going past that,

[00:49:44] [SPEAKER_01]: the gas station that was like on Dallas.

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember that.

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember that?

[00:49:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember that.

[00:49:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, there was like.

[00:49:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I remember gas stations, but when it comes to street names.

[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Street names.

[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well if you go where Hanshaw was at and you just go down that road

[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and then you get out of like the part that has no sidewalks

[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and you cross to like the part that has sidewalks.

[00:50:05] [SPEAKER_01]: You cross the street into that and we're like in that corner.

[00:50:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it was like five minutes from Hanshaw,

[00:50:12] [SPEAKER_01]: but away from the dirt roads and where all the other houses were.

[00:50:16] [SPEAKER_01]: That's where and it was like a dead end street.

[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And that and we were because there we had a basketball court.

[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know whose basketball court it was to this day,

[00:50:24] [SPEAKER_01]: but we were you use it.

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_01]: We use it all the time.

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Who's ever it was?

[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.

[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_02]: It was somebody's.

[00:50:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was somebody's on ours and so maybe it was ours.

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And I just don't remember.

[00:50:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it was ours.

[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, there's no way.

[00:50:36] [SPEAKER_01]: No, it was someone else's anyway.

[00:50:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we were all out right there in front of our house playing

[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's apparently when it passed by and like I don't remember it.

[00:50:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So I got to ask everyone else that lived there,

[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_01]: whoever I can find if they saw it because yeah, I don't remember.

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Weird.

[00:50:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have Carmen doesn't remember either.

[00:50:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, those are all of our stories, right?

[00:50:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, that's all that's all I have.

[00:50:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, okay.

[00:50:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, do you have any spooky recommendations this week?

[00:51:02] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I do not.

[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I have a recommendation.

[00:51:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not spooky, but it's just so funny

[00:51:06] [SPEAKER_01]: and I kept forgetting to mention it

[00:51:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's probably everyone already watched it by now.

[00:51:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But God, what is it called?

[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it just jury?

[00:51:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I think it's just called jury duty.

[00:51:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen it?

[00:51:15] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I haven't.

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_02]: What's that one?

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God, I haven't even heard about it.

[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't even heard about it.

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I watched it because of TikTok.

[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we all know by now that I love the office

[00:51:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and so any show that's like a in that documentary comedy style,

[00:51:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I also love.

[00:51:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And so that includes like Parks and Rec.

[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_01]: What's another one?

[00:51:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember.

[00:51:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Abba Elementary.

[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen Abba Elementary?

[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I haven't.

[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm so backed up.

[00:51:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I haven't watched TV in like three months.

[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Well actually no, that's a lie except for the Mandalorian.

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_02]: That's it.

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_02]: That's the last thing I want to watch.

[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.

[00:51:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, yeah.

[00:51:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So Abba Elementary is another one that's in that same style

[00:51:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and so is jury duty.

[00:51:57] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's the whole premise of the show

[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_01]: is that there's this guy who was selected to be on jury duty

[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and there's cameras everywhere,

[00:52:05] [SPEAKER_01]: but he's told that they're just documenting

[00:52:07] [SPEAKER_01]: the process of jury duty

[00:52:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's why there's cameras everywhere.

[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_01]: They're just going to make this class

[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_01]: to show people what jury duty is like

[00:52:13] [SPEAKER_01]: and that justifies the cameras

[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's not weird to him.

[00:52:15] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, okay.

[00:52:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And so and there's actors all around him

[00:52:19] [SPEAKER_01]: and he doesn't even know.

[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_01]: They're all like, okay, did you ever watch Parks and Rec?

[00:52:24] [SPEAKER_01]: No.

[00:52:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God.

[00:52:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Listen, I don't, I know I'm like a huge,

[00:52:29] [SPEAKER_02]: but unless it's like a movie, I love movies.

[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Like me and my family are movie people,

[00:52:34] [SPEAKER_02]: not so much show people.

[00:52:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm the opposite.

[00:52:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like a show person

[00:52:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and as in the same five shows.

[00:52:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Because I get everything, the whole story out of the way

[00:52:42] [SPEAKER_02]: in like two, three hours, three hours at most.

[00:52:45] [SPEAKER_01]: That makes sense.

[00:52:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, I want to know now.

[00:52:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to know now.

[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this makes zero sense,

[00:52:51] [SPEAKER_01]: but to me a movie, especially like a fucking Marvel movie

[00:52:55] [SPEAKER_01]: is more of a time commitment than a show to me.

[00:52:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I'd rather do the what's it called in the show

[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_02]: because then like my attention span

[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_02]: with anything is like, oh, we'll love the first second.

[00:53:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:53:08] [SPEAKER_02]: We have to do a third one now.

[00:53:10] [SPEAKER_02]: We still don't know what the hell's going on.

[00:53:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't do that.

[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be sitting there.

[00:53:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Then I start like, oh, I've seen that guy somewhere.

[00:53:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I just start looking up the after.

[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I do that too.

[00:53:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I'm like, wait, what just happened?

[00:53:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I like, I rewind the movie.

[00:53:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, no, I'm not doing that.

[00:53:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So I just put on a show.

[00:53:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I've learned to pause it.

[00:53:27] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good idea.

[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Like pause.

[00:53:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I just annoy everyone unless Carmen is watching with me

[00:53:31] [SPEAKER_01]: because then we do the same shit.

[00:53:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And then we're just talking to the whole movie

[00:53:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and we don't even know what happened by the end of it.

[00:53:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, why did we even put on a movie?

[00:53:37] [SPEAKER_02]: The one thing that does annoy me too

[00:53:40] [SPEAKER_02]: is like, I'll figure out the plot way ahead of time.

[00:53:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, oh my God.

[00:53:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I know what's going to happen.

[00:53:49] [SPEAKER_01]: That's my husband.

[00:53:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That's Kyle right there.

[00:53:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't.

[00:53:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And then I've ruined the movie.

[00:53:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Ruin the movie for myself.

[00:53:54] [SPEAKER_02]: So I was like, see, I knew it.

[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_02]: I knew it.

[00:53:56] [SPEAKER_01]: But I love spoilers.

[00:53:57] [SPEAKER_01]: So even if I haven't figured out the plot,

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_01]: my ass is like looking up what happens in the show

[00:54:02] [SPEAKER_01]: as I'm watching or the movie, as I'm watching the movie.

[00:54:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Kyle's like, why are you doing that?

[00:54:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Though I'll tell you one thing though.

[00:54:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I like watching those movie reviews.

[00:54:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, hmm, I don't know about this movie.

[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Let me see if the movie is good enough.

[00:54:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And then I'll watch like a 10 minute breakdown.

[00:54:20] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, OK, that was good 10 minutes.

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's watch the whole thing.

[00:54:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:54:23] [SPEAKER_01]: OK. I get that.

[00:54:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I get that.

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.

[00:54:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So back to jury duty.

[00:54:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So you know, Cyclops from X-Men?

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_01]: James Marston.

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:54:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He's in it.

[00:54:35] [SPEAKER_01]: But he's and so he's playing himself.

[00:54:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And then there's a bunch of like improv actors.

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you watch TV shows, you would recognize them.

[00:54:42] [SPEAKER_01]: But they're all comedy like improv actors.

[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's no script.

[00:54:46] [SPEAKER_01]: There's just like an idea of what's going to happen in this episode.

[00:54:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And so everyone's just like,

[00:54:51] [SPEAKER_01]: improving the whole thing while he's on jury duty.

[00:54:55] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so funny.

[00:54:56] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so funny.

[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And the guy, he's like the nicest guy ever.

[00:55:00] [SPEAKER_01]: There's like, there's like a,

[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure that there's a comedian in it.

[00:55:04] [SPEAKER_01]: You might have seen his clips on TikTok,

[00:55:06] [SPEAKER_01]: but he's like a white comedian.

[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And in the show, he's like this nerdy looking guy with glasses.

[00:55:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's just ridiculous.

[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It's such a fun show.

[00:55:16] [SPEAKER_01]: You should definitely watch it.

[00:55:18] [SPEAKER_02]: I gotta watch it now.

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And what is it?

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Prime.

[00:55:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Huh?

[00:55:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Prime.

[00:55:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:55:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's on prime.

[00:55:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm gonna, I gotta watch it.

[00:55:25] [SPEAKER_01]: So good.

[00:55:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I know what you're talking about.

[00:55:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I only, I only found out about it because of TikTok.

[00:55:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The clips were all over.

[00:55:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I also started watching another show called,

[00:55:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the rookie.

[00:55:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Just because I saw TikTok clips about it.

[00:55:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, you know what?

[00:55:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't watched a new propaganda show in a while.

[00:55:46] [SPEAKER_01]: But I like them.

[00:55:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Like criminal minds.

[00:55:48] [SPEAKER_01]: That's my shit.

[00:55:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I love criminal minds.

[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I love a propaganda.

[00:55:51] [SPEAKER_02]: You never heard that.

[00:55:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.

[00:55:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.

[00:55:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I stole that from TikTok too.

[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.

[00:55:57] [SPEAKER_01]: At this point, TikTok is my personality.

[00:55:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.

[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:56:01] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like right now for me, it's like,

[00:56:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I do want to watch that.

[00:56:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, it looks fun, but there's too much pink.

[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'll just watch it from the comfort of my home.

[00:56:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I would.

[00:56:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, I will be watching that.

[00:56:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Out of my comfort zone.

[00:56:18] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I love it.

[00:56:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I like a black and pink combo a lot.

[00:56:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I do like that, but that's too much pink.

[00:56:24] [SPEAKER_01]: No, it is a lot of pink.

[00:56:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's really bright.

[00:56:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, they're too happy.

[00:56:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:56:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Very happy looking.

[00:56:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Like put some wedding on that.

[00:56:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know.

[00:56:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Make this a horror movie now.

[00:56:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I would have watched that.

[00:56:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Barbie horror?

[00:56:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Or Barbie movie.

[00:56:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Have you watched Megan?

[00:56:39] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I haven't.

[00:56:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God, it's so fun.

[00:56:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I got to watch that one.

[00:56:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:56:44] [SPEAKER_02]: My daughter wants to watch it so bad.

[00:56:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, well, listen here.

[00:56:47] [SPEAKER_01]: She'd be fine, I think.

[00:56:49] [SPEAKER_02]: She does a little dance all the time on telephony.

[00:56:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God, I love it.

[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I can picture it.

[00:56:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I can picture it.

[00:56:55] [SPEAKER_02]: And she does it with a pan fake, like straight.

[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I can literally picture this because

[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_01]: she has an amazing like.

[00:57:02] [SPEAKER_02]: RBF, yeah.

[00:57:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was going to say she's going to be really good at RBF later.

[00:57:06] [SPEAKER_01]: No, she is great.

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And then she does like that.

[00:57:09] [SPEAKER_02]: So what's it called?

[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_02]: The the the the stairs.

[00:57:12] [SPEAKER_02]: What is it called?

[00:57:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God, it's just blank.

[00:57:14] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[00:57:15] [SPEAKER_02]: The stairs because of one that like where you look through your eyelashes

[00:57:19] [SPEAKER_02]: and you look at someone and like.

[00:57:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.

[00:57:23] [SPEAKER_02]: She does that to me whenever I like, I'm like,

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, you need to go do this

[00:57:27] [SPEAKER_02]: and then she looks at me like that.

[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, please don't.

[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I can picture that.

[00:57:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I could totally see that.

[00:57:32] [SPEAKER_01]: She's so adorable.

[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_01]: That's so funny.

[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh, she's crazy.

[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I think she could watch it.

[00:57:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not it's not it's not gory at all.

[00:57:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I let her watch Guardians of the Galaxy this past weekend.

[00:57:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And if you guys see the movies for the no spoilers,

[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_02]: but there's this one gnarly part and she was fine.

[00:57:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, she should be fine.

[00:57:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:57:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a fun ass movie.

[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_01]: OK, let's end this episode before we go on and on.

[00:57:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, thanks for listening.

[00:58:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know, watch out for the thing in the desert.

[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Blizzard people.

[00:58:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, reptilians, snakes slithering away.

[00:58:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, and don't forget our bricklip episode

[00:58:14] [SPEAKER_01]: is the haunting of Alejandra.

[00:58:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I have not bought it.

[00:58:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.

[00:58:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Carmen's going to yell at me when she hears this.

[00:58:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I haven't picked it up again since I told you I was on page 35.

[00:58:28] [SPEAKER_01]: She read it so fast, too.

[00:58:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I got it.

[00:58:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I have to do it.

[00:58:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I have to do it.

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go.

[00:58:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't have my phone on me or I would buy it,

[00:58:34] [SPEAKER_01]: which is what happened last time.

[00:58:36] [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm going to buy it.

[00:58:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I swear.

[00:58:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, Carmen.

[00:58:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm letting you down.

[00:58:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, stay a spooky.

[00:58:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Watch out for slithering,

[00:58:45] [SPEAKER_01]: reptilian people in the desert.
