A group of teenage girls were gathered in the bathroom of their high school. One of them took Luigi board out of her backpack. She had taken it from her house. Her reasoning was pretty sad. You see, the boyfriend of one of the girls in the group passed away in a motorcycle accident. It was tragic and a death that came too soon. The heartbroken girlfriend wasn't ready to say goodbye. No one was, and there were things that were left and said. They brought the board out. One girl stood guard at the entrance of the bathroom while the rest put their hands on the planchette. They started asking questions and they actually get a response. The board spells out the name Veronica, and so they asked again, who are you? But this time the board spells out a different name. It was a grandfather of two of the girls in the bathroom, the Stefania and Marianella. Now this isn't what the group wants to hear. They want to talk to their dead friend, and so they ask a different question, but they are interrupted. Someone is trying to push open the door. It takes a few tries, but a teacher storms into the bathroom. The girls were caught. The teacher grabbed the wigi board from the floor and broke it in half. And when the Wuigi board broke, the glass planchet fell and as it hit the floor, a gray smoke was released. Everyone saw it. One of the girls, who was standing right in front of the teacher, ended up inhaling this smoke. The girl started screaming and convulsing. Her name was Marie Stefania Lultierre s Lasardio. Then after that moment, her life would change forever. This is perhaps one of the most bizarre cases we've come across in the whole podcast, and it all starts with the game. My name is Edwin, and here's a horror story. Stephania was seventeen years old. She lived in an apartment number eight on a street named Luis Marine in the Vajekas neighborhood of Madrid. It was her last year of high school at Colejo Public Arragon of Vajekas. Stephania was the oldest of six siblings. She was very close to them and helped her parents, Conceptcion and Maximiliano in any way that she could. She was a good student, responsible then studious. She helped take care of her siblings a lot, but it didn't bother her. She was so caring and had strong maternal instincts. Her two sisters were more like her best friends than younger sisters. They were inseparable and until his death is Stephania's grandfather also lived in the apartment Concepcion. Her mother was his caretaker, leaving a Steffania as caretaker of the children. Having her grandfather in the home was not easy, especially as his dementia got worse. He was mean and hostile, especially towards Stephania. She knew or wanted to believe that he wasn't aware of what he was saying or doing, but still his words hurt her. He passed away in early nineteen ninety, but even on his deathbed he had more to say to her. His last words to his granddaughter were, if I cannot harm you in this life, I will do it in the next one. Strange, but life went on for the family. Everything was normal. The kids kept going to school and Concepcion and Maximiliano kept going to work. But everything changed after the day a Stephania inhaled the smoke from the Ouiji board. She was no longer the same bubbly person. She developed sleeping problems. She started being more irritable and he'd been violent. She tried hating her siblings, things she had never done before. The sleeping problems turned into insomnia, and in the little moment she did get a little bit of sleep, it was terrible. One night, a Stefania finally felt herself drift off. As she started to dream, she heard a whisper right next to her. Come with us, Come with us. It was a raspy voice. She jolted up in bed and was surrounded by shadows, and this became a regular thing for her. She started making guttural, incoherent sounds. Her family didn't know if it was another language or just random babbling, but they were scared. She would enter into these trances and then she seemed to be somewhere else, and they would last twenty minutes. Concepcion would ask her, where did you go, and a Stefania would answer the hallway. It was the part of the hallway right in front of the bathroom. It would be covered in fog, and where the voice has kept calling to her, come with us. Time passed, and her symptoms only got worse. She started having anger outbursts, seizures and visions. Marianella, her sister, one saw Stephania levitate from her bed. Now it wasn't just as Stefania was experiencing strange things. Stefania still tried to do things for herself, and one of the things she enjoyed doing was ironing her own clothes. One time, she went into the bathroom and gathered the iron board, her clothes, and the iron itself. She set her clothes down on the board and when she reached for the iron, it was already on. She looked up and at the other end of the iron board there was a shadow figure the Stefania screamed for her mom, and when Cossepsion arrived, the iron was still on, but the shadow was gone. And as she was turning around to leave, the bathroom door slam shut. She'd tried the door knob, but it wouldn't budge. Maximiliano is Stephani's father, rushed to the bathroom and try to pull it open, but again it wouldn't move. He raised his leg to kick the door open, but just then the door slowly creaked open. Maximiliano and Concepcio and were worried. They didn't understand what was happening with her daughter. They tried taking her to different specialists, and they ended up going to at least four different clinics looking for help, but it was no use. Doctors had no idea why this was happening to a Stefania. One of the doctors thought she was suffering from epilepsy, but none of the treatments were helping a. Stephania herself started to send she would never get better. She grew morbid as the days went by. She would tell her brothers and sisters that when she passed, she would knock and let them know. On another occasion, she randomly told her mom, when I die, don't tell my dad's family right away and bury me with a picture of him. She believed she was destined to die, and in tears, her mom agreed on the night of July twelfth, nineteen ninety one, that Stephania had a really intense seizure, the worst one yet. She tried attacking Marianella, growling and barking at her like a dog. Marianella dodged the attack and Stephania fell onto the floor and she began to convulse violently. Her eyes went blank, and her mouth began to foam. She fainted, and when she woke up she didn't remember anything that had just happened. The rest of the following day was normal, even good. Stephania seemed to be back to her old self. She even went on a walk with her boyfriend Pablo in the afternoon. When she got home, she had dinner with her family and it was pleasant, something that hadn't happened these days. That night, the thirteenth of July, Stephania had another seizure. This one was worse than the night before. She wrapped her hands around her head and the pain was just too much. She started convulsing. After thirty minutes of the unrelenting headache, the family rushed her to the hospital at eleven pm and sat anxiously in the waiting room, and after some time doctors informed them she was in a coma, and then three hours later, at two am on the fourteenth, she passed away. The siblings had stayed in the apartment heard a series of knocks at that time, and they knew what it meant. Stephania died of asphyxia, which means there wasn't enough oxygen in her body. This can happen for different reasons, but in her case, doctors believed her last seizure was a cause, and even though Stephania had been suffering from seizures over the last several months, doctors still believed that this was unusual. Doctors wrote suddenly and suspiciously about her death. Just like the doctors, her family was just as confused. The loss of a Stephania hit them very hard, and now they were left to mourn, but they wouldn't get to do that in peace. The rest of the episode continues right after this Stay with Me. Almost instantly after her death, things started happening in the apartment. When Concepcion and Maximiliano returned to their home the next morning, Stephania's bed was a mess, but her siblings had made it that night. As the days went on, doors started opening and closing on their own, things started falling off the counters. All of this always happened at the same time. At eleven thirty, she went into a coma. A few nights after Stephania's death, Concepcion was trying to sleep, something that was hard to come by for her, and as she was dozing off, she heard a voice Mamma, mamma. She fell as the cold hand caress her and pulled the sheets off, and they started happening every night. Maximiliano started closing the door to the bathroom and locking it. They believed the supernatural activity was coming from there. No one in the family used the bathroom alone, even during the day. The apartment became a living nightmare. They started seeing a shadow figure appear in the hallway, the same one that a Stefani would talk about. They would hear a sinister laugh there from that same place. One of the younger siblings was pushed by an unseen force at one point, and the family dog flew across the living room as if it had been picked up and thrown. One night, the family sat trying to have dinner together, they glass levitated and flew toward one of the younger siblings, s Ricardo. He was able to dodge it, but it would have hit him in the head. There just seemed to be no moment of peace, especially for Concepcion. Nights were difficult for her. As she tried to sleep, she would feel a cold hand touch her feet, and sometimes it would feel like something was standing on top of her. The family eventually dragged their mattresses into the living room and started sleeping there. Instead, they goes a door to the hallway and even put furniture in front of it. The family dog would spend all night barking at the door. There was something on the other side. There were a couple of knights where the doors still managed to fly open, even with furniture in front of it. They were growing desperate Conceptsion wanted to make sure that they weren't going crazy, so one night she poured flour in the hallway before they all went to bed in the living room. The next morning, they saw a man's footprint on the flower. This was all the evidence she needed. Conception found a paranormal investigator to come by and help, but she had no idea that he was a fraud. His investigation was broadcasted to antenna trees the channel on TV on October fourteenth, nineteen ninety two, and in the end he took financial advantage of the family and even tried to convince them to get him a car. He made the activity in the house even worse. Marinella and Kerubina were in the room. They thought that it was safe to sleep there again and sometime past midnight, they heard a sound. Both of the girls woke up at the same time, and they saw a faceless creature. It was dark and spiky, and it was crawling straight for them. They reached for their small lamb, hoping that it would scare the thing away. Their hands were shaking and they screamed for their parents, and as Conceptsion and Maximiliano ran to their daughter's room, the door opened. The dark, spiky creature crawled out of the room and into the hallway. The girls and their parents ran to the living room, where the rest of the family was, and as they hugged each other in fear, a ball slowly rolled toward them. It was coming from the hallway. Maximiliano grabbed the ball and threw it back, and then it flew back to them. This frightened the family and they decided to leave for a while, but before leaving, Colcepsiu tied each door with cords. When the family returned a couple of weeks later, all of the chords were ripped apart, and their first night back in the apartment on November nineteenth, would be the worst of their lives. At two in the morning, Maximigha called emergency services. He tells dispatch that there is something in the house. It's been this way ever since one of his daughters passed away. He told them. It turns out that all the crucifixes in the house turned upside down and three claw marks appeared on the wall. The dispatcher couldn't believe what he was saying. Concepcion was asked to get on the phone. They needed to make sure that Maximiliano wasn't just drunk, but she verified the story. Dispatch needed more and they talked to two of the older kids. The family seemed truly horrified. A nearby patrol was sent to the apartment. It was raining and cold, but when the officers arrived, the family was outside waiting for them. They just felt safer there. The officers proceeded to enter the home and everything was dark when they got inside. For some reason, none of the lights were working. Street lights shining through the windows were the only source of it. As he continued their search, all five officers noted the crucifixes were indeed upside down. The three scratches on the wall that Maximiliano mentioned were also there. One officer felt sick to his stomach as they walked through the house, and the temperature continued to drop, and the bathroom was even colder. Doors started opening and closing. There was a bang from the terrace. Two officers ran over to check it out. There was nothing there. Four of the officers ran out of the apartment. After this, one of the detectives was forced to continue the inspection by himself. He looked closely at the doors, trying to make sure that there wasn't anything else controlling them. He went into the room that once belonged to a Stefania and tried to pull one of the crucifixes. It was stuck to the wall. There was also colder in this room. And then as he inspected a different room, something pushed over a cabinet and it almost fell on top of him, but he dodged it at the last second. The detective exited the house and he was convinced that all of this was real. He contacted dispatch to give his report, and he said, on this day, the nineteenth, and for several hours, we have noted a strange phenomenon. A strange force moved the equipment and the crucifixes. There's three scratches on the wall. As we sat with the family, we saw a cabinet fall. The way it moved was a natural. We heard a loud sound from the terrace. Moments later, a brown liquid oozed from the corner of the wall. There are a series of phenomenon that we cannot explain over the call to to dispatch would become the first official police report to formally follow the occurrence of paranormal activity. The activity continued after the officers left, but for some reason that the family did not understand, it decreased. Nothing extreme really happened again, and they thought it was over. On All Saints Day in nineteen ninety three, there was a crash in the living room. Conception walked over from the dining room and found a Stefani ask picture on the floor. It had fallen from the altar. She picked it up and turned it over. Picture inside the frame was burned. It was even charred in the corners, but the glass was fine, so was everything else on the altar. The family ended up moving shortly after that, and the activity disappeared. There were no strange shadows, no voices, no flying objects in their new home. Even future tenants of apartment eight on the street. Luis Marine were safe. They never experienced anything. Two of the older siblings have gone on record with different talk shows in Spain and try to debunk the story, blaming their mother for making everything up. They claimed that Stephania had never changed, that she was the same bubbly and friendly girl even up to her death. The mother had instructed supposedly one of them to throw a rock into the terrace, and that's what the officers heard that night. Their house had already been on the local news channel. The officers probably hyped themselves up into believing supernatural phenomenon was taking place. The pair even said that there's discrepancies in the timeline that a Stephania's sickness didn't happen until almost a year after the wijiboard incident. But even with their statements, some things remain unexplained, as Stefania's sudden epilepsy, even if it might have been months after playing the wigiboard, it just never made any sense. She got so sick so fast, and how quickly she passed away didn't make any sense to anyone. Concepcion remained firm in her account of things she truly believed and insisted that sinister paranormal activity was plaguing their home. It was it difficult to think that the Ouigi board had something to do with it. Their lives change after that day, but this would end up becoming one of the most famous paranormal cases in Spain. It's so well known that the movie Veronica is based on the story. Whatever happened to the family in Viajeka scarred them for life. There was no moment of peace or quiet. They were not able to grieve the loss of a Stephania properly. But one thing is for sure. Their version of reality was forever changed, and for them it wasn't a question of what if something happens when you play with Theluigi board, but who will it affect and when will it happen.
