Aaron Goodwin from Ghost Adventures became the target of his wife Victoria Goodwin's plot to have him murdered after allegedly trying to hire a hitman. Surprisingly, this was done through a connection with convicted murderer Grant Amato from the documentary Ctrl+Alt+Desire.

00:00:00
So earlier this year, in March of 2025, Aaron Goodwin from the
00:00:04
show Ghost Adventures had this notification from the Las Vegas
00:00:09
Metropolitan Police Department. Turns out his wife was being
00:00:13
arrested and the reason was conspiring to hire a hitman to
00:00:19
kill him. Now I know we don't normally
00:00:22
talk about this type of content, at least in this podcast, but
00:00:26
it's making such a huge splash in the paranormal space that we
00:00:29
just have to talk about it. You ready?
00:00:33
My name is Edwin and this is Paranormal Club.
00:00:44
So for some background for for some of us who are not familiar
00:00:48
with Ghost Adventures and what what this is, right?
00:00:50
I remember this show from way back in the day.
00:00:53
And I'm saying like, since I was in high school, this was one of
00:00:56
like V shows to watch. And I remember it started with a
00:01:00
documentary. It was only a documentary that
00:01:02
was released. It was a hit.
00:01:05
And then it became a show on the Travel Channel.
00:01:07
Such a just an awesome, you know, history into how it
00:01:11
started. But it was made-up of three crew
00:01:14
members that I remember clearly, Right.
00:01:17
We have Aaron Goodwin, we have Nick Groff and Zach begins,
00:01:22
which turned out to be, you know, the leader of of the
00:01:25
group. People either love or hate Zach,
00:01:29
you know, because he is exaggerates a lot of the things
00:01:32
that you know, happen. But again, he might just be
00:01:34
super sensitive to the paranormal and to entities and
00:01:37
stuff. And he might be sensitive to
00:01:40
getting scratched all the time or getting his energy drained.
00:01:43
But one of the most likable characters or crew member of the
00:01:48
crew from the paranormal from Ghost Adventures turns out to be
00:01:53
Aaron Goodwin. And the reason why I, I think
00:01:55
the most I think the younger crowd can relate to this is if
00:01:59
you think about like BuzzFeed unsolved and you think of Shane
00:02:03
and Ryan, he would be like the Ryan kind of actually, hold on.
00:02:07
They're both likeable. Maybe Shane, Dang it.
00:02:11
No, that's a tough one. That's a bad example because he
00:02:14
he was like, OK, so you have Zach Beggins, who's like this
00:02:16
the series like the leader guy, right?
00:02:18
He's like the the one that is saying you're going to go into
00:02:21
this room now I'm going to go into this room and we're going
00:02:23
to try this. And he's the one that does a
00:02:25
narration. Like as we were entering the
00:02:28
room, we spotted an anomaly in the camera, right?
00:02:31
He's like that guy, the main guy.
00:02:34
You have Nick Groff, who was this?
00:02:36
He was kind of like the serious guy.
00:02:37
He was like just serious that you could feel a little bit
00:02:40
distant, like a little bit cold, but still an important part of
00:02:43
the crew. And you had Aaron and it was
00:02:45
like the one that was sent into like the scariest room.
00:02:48
And he would just be like, dude, I do not want to do that.
00:02:51
Dude. Oh, my God, I just heard this
00:02:52
sound. And he would like genuinely,
00:02:54
like authentically feel all these things.
00:02:56
You could trust them. Like you might think, yeah,
00:02:58
sure. Ghost Adventures make makes up
00:03:00
their their content. It's not real.
00:03:02
It's all made-up, it's all fake. But Aaron's reactions just made
00:03:08
you think twice, like, hey, maybe this stuff is real because
00:03:11
that's how I would react, right? In a situation like that, like
00:03:14
Aaron just freaking out over something that you know, that
00:03:17
that you see. So he was the most likeable of
00:03:19
them and he was he was more down to earth.
00:03:23
He was just more like, oh, you're in this super haunted
00:03:25
location and he would just be like, all right, guys, like calm
00:03:27
down. Things are getting, you know, by
00:03:29
the way, eventually Nick and and Zach had a falling out and they
00:03:34
kind of went against each other like they they, it's a whole
00:03:37
drama thing that we can get into later.
00:03:38
But he was the reason why I still stuck around watching.
00:03:42
I actually haven't watched the recent seasons, but the reason
00:03:46
why I still even keep up with the news is just to kind of you
00:03:49
really only watch the clips from Aaron, right, because you kind
00:03:53
of know what Zach is going to be up to.
00:03:54
But Aaron's more like the the normal guy in this in this.
00:03:57
So he's the most likeable character in in the whole the
00:04:00
whole series, in the whole not even a series, right, The whole
00:04:03
reality show that is ghost adventures.
00:04:07
So the story here where, where it starts getting into the whole
00:04:11
topic of, you know, what happened with with his wife is
00:04:15
it came as a shock, obviously, because First off, it happened
00:04:18
to Aaron, right? Not that it should happen to
00:04:21
anyone else, but like happened to him.
00:04:24
And then the life that was being painted like the life that we
00:04:29
saw at least on Instagram between him and his wife was
00:04:33
like a fairy tale, right? You spotted pictures of him
00:04:38
proposing in front of a castle, Disneyland or Disney World.
00:04:43
He got married at the Haunted Mansion, right?
00:04:46
This awesome picture of a flowy dress in like this in the
00:04:49
Haunted Mansion. So like it, it was like a fairy
00:04:53
tale kind of thing. They wrote each other stuff
00:04:56
online, right? As in those are poles that
00:04:59
actually might still be up from Valentine's Day.
00:05:02
It just says stay, I'm on like I love you.
00:05:04
It says, you know that. And they're out playing mini
00:05:08
golf, like all these things that you you see.
00:05:10
And it's recent, right? Who would have thought that just
00:05:13
a month after that all this stuff was going to go down and
00:05:17
that his wife would come forth and, and admit that she was
00:05:21
conspiring to hire someone to kill him.
00:05:25
The whole thing is just, it seems surreal, you know, that
00:05:28
this is happening, especially now when you view his account
00:05:33
like his, his testimony, like his victim statement.
00:05:36
It, it, it's just, it's heartbreaking just to, to see
00:05:38
the whole thing. You know, turns out that on
00:05:40
March 6th of 2025, the Correctional Facility in
00:05:44
Florida, like one of the, one of them from one of the jails
00:05:48
there, contacted the Clark County Police Department, like
00:05:52
the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
00:05:54
And they said, hey, you know what, we, we confiscated this
00:05:57
phone from an inmate that was, you know, you're not supposed to
00:06:00
have phones there. And during one of the checks,
00:06:04
they found that they had been this inmate, Grant, same as
00:06:08
Grant had been communicating with somebody named Victoria
00:06:12
Candy, which turned out to be Victoria Goodwin from, you know,
00:06:16
Aaron's wife. They're conspiring to have him
00:06:20
killed, to have Aaron killed. The whole thing was bizarre
00:06:27
because this inmate that she had been talking to was Grant Amato,
00:06:35
the subject of this terrifying, I guess, documentary called
00:06:44
Control Alt Desire, about a man who became obsessed with a Cam
00:06:49
girl, stole money from his family.
00:06:53
His family got angry, obviously, for the whole situation and
00:06:59
eventually he murdered all of them.
00:07:02
And he murdered the mother, the father and the brother.
00:07:06
Now that's the story of the documentary and that's who she
00:07:12
was messaging. So how did this all get started?
00:07:15
Right? This is pretty insane if you if
00:07:20
you think about it, because the whole background of Grand Amato
00:07:24
and and everything that went went on.
00:07:27
It was a story of digital delusion.
00:07:30
I obsession with somebody online and then Victoria has that same
00:07:41
thing right getting obsessed with Grant thinking that they're
00:07:45
going to have a future together. So how did how did for I know
00:07:48
that there's just a lot of stuff that just I just threw on you
00:07:50
right. So we're going to take a step by
00:07:52
step here and I'm just going to tell you the story so you
00:07:54
understand kind of the general idea of who this Grant guy was
00:08:00
and what does he have to do with all this.
00:08:01
Here's what happened. He was born I think in 1989 and
00:08:04
he was, he was a, a nurse in Florida and he got fired because
00:08:09
he was mishandling medication. Basically he was taking meds
00:08:13
when he was not. He was taking like
00:08:15
antidepressants, I believe he wasn't supposed to like, so he
00:08:18
was taking him to for himself. So he, he had issues and he got
00:08:21
fired. He got to let go, right?
00:08:23
So now he's unemployed. He doesn't know where he's going
00:08:25
to go, like directionless kind of lost in life.
00:08:29
So his parents say, you know what, like come stay with us,
00:08:32
get back on your feet, get a job, you'll be fine.
00:08:36
Just, you know, do that. So he's like, OK, I'll do that.
00:08:41
And his choice is to become like, I believe it's a streamer
00:08:45
of some sort and it isn't working.
00:08:48
Like normally when you have that, like when you have
00:08:51
aspirations to do that, sure, it's, it's cool, right, to go
00:08:54
after something like that. It's a fun job or whatever for
00:08:58
for people who do that, but when you have no savings, you don't
00:09:02
know, you don't have a back up plan.
00:09:03
You're kind of relying on your parents if they're going to take
00:09:05
care of you. Just hoping that this works and
00:09:09
this takes off. It's pretty rough.
00:09:12
Like it's a tough situation to be in.
00:09:14
So while he was exploring all of his online options, right, he
00:09:18
starts discovering the world of Cam girls.
00:09:22
And that's where he meets this one called Sylvie from Bulgaria.
00:09:26
And he's like in love with her. Like he, he sees her videos and
00:09:29
he's like, like he starts chatting with her, like video
00:09:32
chat and how those websites work.
00:09:34
It's like you pay tokens like per minute and you, you chat
00:09:39
with him or I guess you don't just talk like you're they, they
00:09:43
perform a show for you online. And it became obsessed.
00:09:47
He's trying to impress her. He's trying to become like a
00:09:50
real life relationship with her. So he's like, yeah, I'm rich.
00:09:53
I have a lot of cards, have a lot of money.
00:09:56
He sends her gifts. He sends her.
00:09:58
How is he doing this, by the way?
00:09:59
He has no money, right? He's maxing out his credit
00:10:02
cards. Like this whole time.
00:10:03
He's he's faking the whole thing.
00:10:07
Eventually the family realizes like $200 in the savings
00:10:11
account is gone. He took it to start spending
00:10:16
money to keep talking with Sylvie, the Cam girl.
00:10:21
He's he's straight up he's like I'm obsessed.
00:10:26
He's like a very small like he he's he's delusional now, like
00:10:30
he's thinking. And I feel like a lot of us can
00:10:32
kind of think of a situation where, or we probably read it
00:10:35
somewhere on Reddit that a guy becomes obsessed with a girl and
00:10:42
starts sending her money. He gets scammed out of thousands
00:10:45
of dollars because he thinks that she's really in love with
00:10:48
him. And it turns out she just wanted
00:10:50
the money. Like that kind of scam.
00:10:52
Well, that's not exactly what happened here.
00:10:54
But because obviously this is this is Sylvia's job, right?
00:10:58
Her job is to be performed to have a camera on and ask for
00:11:03
money. Like that's her thing.
00:11:05
So she's all this whole, you know, this whole time she's
00:11:07
stringing him along, probably saying like, Oh yeah, sure.
00:11:09
Like, yeah, let's keep talking. This is awesome, thanking him.
00:11:12
And he's thinking that he's in a relationship with her, that
00:11:15
she's going to end up being with him while she's just doing her
00:11:18
job, which is to take money online.
00:11:23
The whole situation is it's bizarre to think about.
00:11:25
But again, this is people's reality, right?
00:11:27
Like this is what they believe is happening, that they're going
00:11:29
to be together and that all this stuff is going to work out.
00:11:32
Obviously to us, it seems kind of like kind of ridiculous to
00:11:35
even think that. But they get involved, you know,
00:11:38
they have they get manipulated, they get obsessed with this kind
00:11:41
of thing. And that's what that's where he
00:11:42
was at one point. You know, the family's is, is
00:11:44
angry, but they're like, you know what?
00:11:46
OK, look, let's do something here.
00:11:48
And they convince him his brother Cody is going to pay for
00:11:52
therapy. He's going to go to therapy,
00:11:54
he's going to get help for his pornography addiction, for his
00:11:57
Internet addiction, and everything's going to be fine.
00:12:01
So Grant's like, all right, I'll do it.
00:12:04
And he does it. He goes to therapy, or at least
00:12:08
claims he went to therapy or it was claimed that he did.
00:12:11
And eventually he gets found out again that he's going back
00:12:17
online this time, like because he said, hey, you know what?
00:12:21
No more you have to lose touch with Sylvie here.
00:12:24
Like no more Sylvie, like no more Cam girls, like just focus
00:12:28
here. So he's like, OK, but in secret
00:12:30
he took his mom's phone and keeps chatting and spending
00:12:34
money on Sylvie. He's losing it, right?
00:12:38
Like he needs help, but his family's like losing money.
00:12:42
Like what else are you going to do with this guy?
00:12:44
He has no job, He's not doing anything.
00:12:45
He's just spending money and he's obsessed with this girl
00:12:48
that he hasn't even met. Long story short, the family
00:12:53
gets angry. They're like, you know what?
00:12:56
This is the last straw. You, you're stealing now you
00:13:00
need to leave so they can't come out of the house.
00:13:04
Grant is pissed, like he's angry and he leaves.
00:13:09
Later that same day, he comes back and he shoots his mom, his
00:13:17
dad, and his brother. It's brutal, like it's execution
00:13:23
style, like in the head, this is terrible, just a terrible thing
00:13:32
that he did. And he kind of makes it seem
00:13:37
like he wants people to think that, oh, maybe Cody, like the
00:13:41
brother just maybe killed his parents and then he killed
00:13:46
himself. And and what he did next is he
00:13:49
took cash, took a laptop, took probably cards like credit
00:13:55
cards, took the car and drove to a hotel, got online and kept
00:14:04
talking to Sylvie as if nothing had happened, spending money.
00:14:11
Eventually, obviously, the, you know, the family starts missing
00:14:14
work and stuff. So they get suspicious, he gets
00:14:17
sent someone out, and then they find out that, yeah, like
00:14:20
they've been murdered. It's just, you know, really
00:14:24
rough news. So the police starts
00:14:27
investigating what's happening, like what's going on.
00:14:29
So they find out that, you know, they start linking things easily
00:14:34
with phones, right? They ping, by the way, your
00:14:36
phone pinged like, as in they let out a signal saying where
00:14:39
you are, kind of they can triangulate the the area, like
00:14:42
where you are, the cards, right. He's spending money from cars
00:14:46
probably that aren't his and they're showing up on bank
00:14:50
transactions. The police are able to piece
00:14:52
that up like that, right? Be like, piece it together.
00:14:57
Also, you know, they, they find out where he is, they tell him.
00:15:01
And then when, when he finds, he finds out that his family's
00:15:05
dead, he reacts like it's the first time that they know that,
00:15:08
that he hears about it and he's upset and he's crying and he's
00:15:11
like, Oh my God, I can't believe it and all that.
00:15:14
But the police are like, they're not dumb, right?
00:15:16
They find out that he had an obsession and that he had been
00:15:20
stealing money and all these problems.
00:15:23
So he had, he had a reason he had been kicked out.
00:15:25
So like they kind of know they, they can kind of piece it
00:15:28
together pretty quickly that he's responsible for the death.
00:15:35
And they eventually do charge him.
00:15:37
And by the way, the the execution style murders here
00:15:42
happened in 2019 in January. So he goes to trial.
00:15:47
He does have the whole thing. He gets sentenced to three life
00:15:50
sentences for each person that he killed.
00:15:53
And this documentary Control All Desire comes out.
00:15:57
He's already in being watched here in 2024 by Victoria
00:16:03
Goodwin, who's watching this documentary.
00:16:05
And for some reason she decides to right to the inmate because
00:16:12
she becomes obsessed with this, which this all worries me about
00:16:16
true crime, right? Like people do become obsessed
00:16:19
with it and there's a lot of glorification for murderers.
00:16:27
I don't understand it. I don't really think I want to
00:16:30
understand it necessarily. I mean, it might be helpful to
00:16:33
figure it out, but like that's can't you be obsessed over
00:16:38
something else? I don't know, like those, I
00:16:41
don't know those, those collectibles or something, I
00:16:43
don't know, some kind of thing, something else besides
00:16:46
murderers. I don't know, I don't know.
00:16:48
But she became obsessed and she started writing letters to try
00:16:51
to get in touch with them, which, you know, something that
00:16:53
you you can do. I I found out about this and now
00:16:57
I got pretty scared now reading about this that people who
00:16:59
people have a thing for writing to inmates.
00:17:02
Not that there's anything wrong with it, probably bored in
00:17:04
there, right, But still thinking about this stuff happening
00:17:08
really made me think of because somebody told me for somebody
00:17:10
for my past was like she, she was writing letters to inmates
00:17:14
and I'm like, Oh, I could have died.
00:17:16
I don't know. Just thinking about this was
00:17:18
really it was weird. It was weird to think about, but
00:17:21
eventually these messages turned into text messaging, like
00:17:25
through Facebook or stuff, a messaging messaging system.
00:17:29
And they eventually start connecting.
00:17:32
Like Victoria Goodwin, Aaron's wife was connecting with this
00:17:36
inmate and they start kind of falling in love or she starts
00:17:39
falling in love with him. I, I don't know if it went both
00:17:41
ways, but how this stuff was, was happening was, you know, in
00:17:45
jail they, they hide phones like the, the correction officers,
00:17:50
like the, the correctional officers, they go in there, they
00:17:53
do checks and that's how they found that he had a phone.
00:17:56
Grant had a phone. He was communicating with this
00:17:58
Victoria Candy person who was referring to FH as her husband.
00:18:03
And they were to piece it together easily, right?
00:18:05
Just to look into their profile like this is Victoria Goodwin.
00:18:10
So that's when the arrest happens.
00:18:13
That's when they contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police
00:18:16
Department and they get in touch with this.
00:18:20
They they saved the life basically here, right?
00:18:24
Aaron's life from Victoria hiring a hitman.
00:18:28
Now, when you think about this, she probably has like little
00:18:32
defence here, right? She's saying, Oh yeah, like we
00:18:34
talked about it, but it was like a fantasy thing, like, because
00:18:37
this is what her response was that she was daydreaming and it
00:18:40
was like a, like a, like a Daydream slash fantasy of the
00:18:44
whole thing and that it wasn't that big of a deal that she
00:18:47
wasn't thinking about doing it. However, there's this huge
00:18:50
detail here that was, was missing money exchanged hands
00:18:55
here. She had, she had moved $11
00:19:00
to a person in the like an intermediary.
00:19:03
How do you say that intermediary for hiring for, for hitman?
00:19:14
Like somebody just changed the money here so that you don't
00:19:16
directly pay the hitman because that's too straightforward.
00:19:20
They get caught like you're, you're, you're kind of screwed.
00:19:22
Like you're done. So you send it to someone in
00:19:25
between, right? And she has sent $11 to this
00:19:29
person, a couple of the messages that were on there, obviously,
00:19:33
like it's already like you lose all your rights here, right?
00:19:38
They're going through your messages.
00:19:40
They're finding out everything you said, how you fell in love
00:19:42
through text message and all that.
00:19:45
She ends up saying one phrase that I mean, I'm going to
00:19:50
paraphrase it here, but it says I'm a bad am IA bad person
00:19:53
because I chose to end his existence and not get a divorce.
00:19:59
Yeah, you're a bad person for that.
00:20:01
Just get a divorce. Like what's up with killing a
00:20:06
person? Just divorce and and start over.
00:20:08
Go somewhere else. Like, I don't know.
00:20:11
But that's what the the, you know, that's what got her in
00:20:15
trouble. They found out that way.
00:20:17
It was too. It was very straightforward.
00:20:19
And again, all this is it's not a mystery.
00:20:22
Like it's not a this is a very straightforward case.
00:20:26
This is what was happening. This is what you did.
00:20:30
There like you, you did that right, but she was denying it.
00:20:33
She was saying no. Eventually she did accept a a
00:20:36
plea deal for that and she admitted it.
00:20:42
You know, she, she ended up apologizing for the whole thing,
00:20:45
which I don't know, did you try to kill somebody and, and try to
00:20:50
hire somebody to kill somebody and you're just going to, you
00:20:52
know, I'm so sorry, but I never did it though.
00:20:55
You know, it's, it's, it's crazy to think because First off,
00:21:00
First off, this was deeply, deeply like troubling for Aaron
00:21:07
because he now had to go with like an armed guard to, to live
00:21:12
his life, like to go on shoots and stuff.
00:21:15
Plus, Victoria was actually giving away his location, like
00:21:24
his filming schedule, his hotel stays, details on the car.
00:21:30
Plus, you know, some couples they have, you know, they're
00:21:33
sharing their location at all times.
00:21:35
So she would give the find my, you know, the location for my
00:21:38
phones or whatever. She was giving this location
00:21:42
away to a person or where he was going to be at.
00:21:46
So like what hotel he's in? Like, how do you even deal with
00:21:50
that, right? Like that's very disturbing.
00:21:56
Like he could have gotten killed just the whole thing.
00:22:01
Like they, they even they even showed a picture like she she
00:22:04
sent a picture of him of, of, of Aaron in Barstow, like at a
00:22:09
ghost town, like, oh, he's there just to what do you like to
00:22:14
maybe to show what he's wearing or where he is exactly.
00:22:19
So obviously, like all the proof, all the evidence was
00:22:22
against her in the, in this case.
00:22:24
And that plus the messages and, and, and the whole thing, they
00:22:27
just, they know they, they just gave it away.
00:22:30
So on March 6th, 2025, she was arrested at her house in Las
00:22:36
Vegas. The phone records obviously tied
00:22:40
her immediately to who she was, which was Victoria Candy.
00:22:44
From the messages she admitted it, you know, that she was
00:22:48
talking to Grant. And again, she admitted that she
00:22:52
was talking to him. But she also said that, yeah, it
00:22:54
was just a fantasy. It was like a Daydream, like she
00:22:57
said she was. She was fantasizing of what it
00:23:00
would be like to be a criminal and to hire a hitman to end
00:23:04
someone's life. So she was, she was charged with
00:23:08
conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy and actually
00:23:12
solicitation to commit murder. So her plea deal was made in
00:23:17
April 12th, 2025. Again, this is very recent.
00:23:21
She pled guilty to conspiracy to conspiracy of solicitation
00:23:24
charge. Sorry, the solicitation charge
00:23:26
supposedly was dropped. Now how do you defend against
00:23:29
that? Well, they were saying the
00:23:32
defense, her defense team said she was emotionally vulnerable.
00:23:36
Also, she was manipulated by Grant Amato.
00:23:40
So the jury, everyone agreed like OK, she gets sentenced, she
00:23:45
gets jail time. She was sentenced to 36 to 90
00:23:49
months, which is about 3 to 7 1/2 ish years in jail.
00:23:55
And then that's where Aaron's victim statement comes in, which
00:24:00
is just heartbreaking just to hear that, you know, he, he
00:24:03
breaks down, he starts saying he can't, you know, now he, he, he
00:24:07
pretty much lost his, his freedom.
00:24:09
Like he can't be relaxed anymore because now he has to have an
00:24:13
armed guard with him, right? How is he going to be, how's it
00:24:16
going to get close to anybody now?
00:24:17
How can he trust somebody? Well, I mean, it's rough.
00:24:21
It's a good thing that he's getting help, right?
00:24:22
He's he's getting help. When you follow him on
00:24:24
Instagram, you kind of tell like he's, he's pushing forward, like
00:24:27
he's, he's, he's moving on. You know, he's, he's getting
00:24:30
everything together, which is pretty good.
00:24:33
Now, was his sentence to lenient?
00:24:36
I think so. I mean, you're trying to get rid
00:24:38
of someone's life and you gave everything details of where he
00:24:42
is, money, your message is there.
00:24:45
Everything's against you. You were you were trying to kill
00:24:47
somebody. You were trying to get somebody
00:24:49
to kill somebody. But you know, the jury agreed.
00:24:53
They're like, you know, she has a prior history.
00:24:57
She was cooperating with us. The whole situation is just it's
00:25:02
upsetting. You know, it's upsetting because
00:25:04
I feel like she should have gotten more time, but who am I
00:25:07
to say anything, right? I'm, I'm not really, I don't
00:25:10
really know how this stuff works, but it just, it feels
00:25:12
like that for the potential ending of someone's life.
00:25:19
Man, that deserves a lot more. Sorry.
00:25:22
So obviously immediately after Aaron finds out about this, he
00:25:27
files for divorce. He's like basically it's a
00:25:30
procedure thing, right? You procedure plus like you
00:25:33
don't want to be married to somebody like that.
00:25:35
But also like you got to start separating everything.
00:25:37
Like immediately. You can't just be like, Oh yeah,
00:25:39
I'm still married. Like you got to start
00:25:41
proceeding. This is now.
00:25:42
So at first he was like, you know what, we just have like
00:25:47
it's just difference. It's something that they cannot
00:25:49
correct anymore, right? They're just, you can't fix this
00:25:52
anymore. Eventually he amended it.
00:25:54
He was like, all right, I need to $10 in damages for
00:25:58
emotional distress and the for all those, I mean, imagine that
00:26:02
$10 for for emotional distress.
00:26:06
Like I feel like he could have gotten a lot, a lot.
00:26:09
He could have added a lot more to that, you know, because it is
00:26:12
going to affect him for a while, at least I can imagine, you
00:26:15
know, he also for therapy, for armed security, his own safety,
00:26:22
right? It's just the, I don't know how
00:26:24
you put a price on that. But also in court, he, he was
00:26:29
mainly quiet, you know, from, from the reports, he was quiet.
00:26:33
He would respond very short sentences until he gave his
00:26:36
victim statement, which where he broke down, He faced her and
00:26:40
basically just, you know, said everything, you know, said what
00:26:44
he was thinking. So it was, it was a pretty
00:26:46
rough, pretty rough, rough time for Aaron.
00:26:49
So and and it's you hear about the situation sometimes too, you
00:26:53
know, another, another other times.
00:26:55
And it makes you wonder, like, is this a common thing?
00:26:58
Like, really? Are you that upset you want to
00:27:01
kill your husband? Jeez, Like just get divorced.
00:27:06
You guys Like, come on. Like, yeah, I think it's better
00:27:12
that way. I don't know.
00:27:12
Plus, I don't know what she was thinking.
00:27:15
Like, do you want to be with this guy?
00:27:16
Like he's in jail? Like he's going to be in jail
00:27:18
for life and you're trying to kill a public figure kind of
00:27:25
like a a celebrity in do you know somebody who was on reality
00:27:29
show and he has like what a bunch of seasons, like 10's and
00:27:33
10s of of seasons of Ghost Adventures and he's well liked.
00:27:38
I don't know. I don't know.
00:27:41
See, this is what that level of like obsession gets you, right?
00:27:45
It gets people killed. The whole situation is just,
00:27:51
it's very rough. So now you know when, when I
00:27:57
started, you know, obviously digging into the, the, the whole
00:27:59
research stuff, I found some of Aaron's posts on Instagram and
00:28:08
some of them he's, he's saying thanks to his community.
00:28:11
And you know how it's all the messages have been helping him
00:28:14
out and everything, which is really cool.
00:28:16
And actually his Last Post that I checked today, I'll see if
00:28:21
it's still his last pose, but as in the the most recent one, but
00:28:25
he posted a picture of his cat and he says just you and me
00:28:32
buddy. Well, you know what Aaron is not
00:28:38
just you and the cat anymore. Like it's you, the cat and all
00:28:42
of us here because we support you.
00:28:45
So I seriously hope everything gets better here.
00:28:50
We're going to close the chapter and and move forward.
00:28:53
And I was going to be rough, but hopefully that's the end of it.
00:28:57
And then you take care of yourself.
00:29:00
The message goes to to Aaron here.
00:29:03
I can't imagine going through something like that.
00:29:05
It's just incredibly, incredibly upsetting.
00:29:09
So what do you think about this case?
00:29:11
Like, let me know. Let me know your thoughts about
00:29:15
the sentencing, any updates that you might be getting from the
00:29:18
whole situation? Can you post it?
00:29:21
Obviously, she has been sent in. So this is technically a closed
00:29:26
case, but obviously for Aaron is still going to continue because
00:29:31
now he has to deal with with all this.
00:29:34
So now let's continue on with our our podcast regular kind of
00:29:39
programming thing that we have here.
00:29:42
We do have some comments that we got from the last episode, which
00:29:46
obviously is super grateful for. We're gonna go through some
00:29:50
comments and see where we were where we're at.
00:29:53
Let's see from our previous episode called the voice outside
00:29:58
where people submitted their own true scary accounts.
00:30:03
We have our comments here. I think every everything got
00:30:06
approved. I think the the only, by the
00:30:08
way, right now, if you're listening on Apple podcast, I'm
00:30:10
reading the comments on Spotify and let's see.
00:30:13
Oh, I mentioned Yoda in the last episode.
00:30:15
Yoda says please do a live. I'll comment more, but I've been
00:30:18
listening on Apple Podcasts and not sure how to leave comments
00:30:21
there. I'm so sorry.
00:30:22
You don't need to worry, Yoda. Yeah, I happen to mention
00:30:26
mention Yoda last time because I forgot what it was.
00:30:29
It was it like, oh, we used to see Yoda run a lot.
00:30:32
No, we don't. But but no, Yoda's still here.
00:30:35
And that's that's awesome. But yeah, like, like I mentioned
00:30:38
the the comments on Spotify, we can actually leave comments on
00:30:42
Apple Podcasts. I don't think you can.
00:30:43
I think you can only leave reviews which try leaving the
00:30:46
review please. We don't have that many and five
00:30:49
stars. 5 stars will help out a lot.
00:30:51
Maria says hi, thanks for sharing my story, made my day
00:30:55
lol. When you were talking about the
00:30:57
movies I was thinking how cool it would be if your stories were
00:30:59
made into a movie. You have some of the best scary
00:31:02
stories I've heard. It would be really cool.
00:31:04
Thanks a lot Maria. Like, you know what, it would be
00:31:08
super cool to have a movie made with with one of the stories.
00:31:13
That's right. And that'd be super cool.
00:31:16
I don't know how you make a movie though.
00:31:19
Let me know. By the way, I believe Maria's
00:31:21
talking about Scary Story podcast, which are the, you
00:31:24
know, the stories that I I write.
00:31:26
Let me know what's what story you think should make it into a
00:31:29
movie. Like if you have an idea we
00:31:31
could, we could probably start from there.
00:31:33
Everything's possible here. Everything's possible, you guys.
00:31:36
Ken Riguez says when I heard the announcement at the end of the
00:31:40
latest True Scary Stories episode of a new podcast you
00:31:42
were hosting and made my morning.
00:31:44
I enjoy all your podcast. Edwins.
00:31:45
You have a GIF of storytelling. Dan, you guys are super nice.
00:31:48
Thanks so much, Ken Riguez. Keep up the great work.
00:31:52
It's also awesome to be able to watch episodes of Paranormal
00:31:54
Club and put a face to the voice that I've been listening to for
00:31:58
over a year. That over a year.
00:32:00
That's a long time in like, Internet time.
00:32:03
That's a long time. And yeah, this is my face.
00:32:06
Thank you. Sorry.
00:32:08
I apologize. Just kidding.
00:32:11
Yeah. This is this is me.
00:32:12
This is me on video here. And then KS says very
00:32:17
interesting episode was amazing. I'm glad you're feeling better.
00:32:19
Yeah, I was sick in the last episode.
00:32:23
Yeah. You you could hear.
00:32:24
You could probably hear the difference now.
00:32:25
Like it was terrible, but but it went away.
00:32:29
Now I'm not as nasally anymore on the question that you asked.
00:32:33
I think it's completely reasonable to cut off family if
00:32:35
they have caused you abuse. You should be prioritizing
00:32:38
yourself and sometimes it's better to not have that negative
00:32:41
energy in your life. And also thank you for reading
00:32:44
my comments. I'm excited to share my
00:32:45
experiences with you soon. Yeah, I hope you do.
00:32:47
I hope you you share them. I already sent you a link KK20.
00:32:51
Hopefully we can get get you on and and talk some scary stories.
00:32:56
There is here where you mentioned the you know, you have
00:33:00
it's reasonable to cut off family.
00:33:01
It's because in the last episode I mentioned is it OK to cut off
00:33:05
family or they've they've harmed you.
00:33:07
Like as in we were talking about, I guess one of the
00:33:10
stories was about like witchcraft specifically, but
00:33:14
witchcraft comes from like envy and like all these things like
00:33:18
why would you want to hurt somebody?
00:33:20
Is it OK to just be like, yeah, I don't want to be a part of
00:33:23
your part of like your life anymore.
00:33:24
Like I want to go away like you're you're hurting me.
00:33:27
You know, it's, I believe so too.
00:33:30
Like, I think it's you have to watch out for yourself.
00:33:33
And yeah, sometimes your family can become your worst enemies,
00:33:37
as we heard here with Aaron's experiences, right?
00:33:40
Like Aaron and then his wife. Like, imagine that.
00:33:43
Sometimes it's not even a ghost or witchcraft.
00:33:46
Sometimes it's a real life person that sleeps next to you.
00:33:50
Scary. I don't want to make you guys
00:33:52
paranoid, but geez, Campy. Campy says I like the name.
00:33:59
Campy's Porn Shack says I had to look at the photo for 10
00:34:03
milliseconds. Oh, this is a photo I shared
00:34:05
with that actually that was shared with me on the last
00:34:08
episode about the boy underneath the the staircase.
00:34:11
Had to look at the photo for 10 milliseconds from various angles
00:34:14
and zooms before I could discern the boy's face.
00:34:16
I don't want to know what kind of liquid people put in hotel
00:34:18
room coffee makers. There was a comment that
00:34:21
Michelle made in our in our podcast that we used to have
00:34:24
about why we don't use coffee machines or the the coffee
00:34:27
makers regarding abusive family members.
00:34:31
OK to for survival and mental health to avoid or completely
00:34:34
cut ties with any family that causes you harm.
00:34:37
The abuser has an obligation to stop the abuse in a tone for the
00:34:40
harm they've done. The abused person is under no
00:34:43
obligation to make the first move or do any, do all or any of
00:34:47
that work. And this is where I commented.
00:34:49
Like, I agree with that. That's actually made a lot of
00:34:51
sense to me. I hadn't never thought of it
00:34:53
that way, but the victim's not obligated to make the first move
00:34:57
or to fix things. It's not your job.
00:34:59
You're the victim here. It does it make sense?
00:35:03
Blanca says. I agree the Haunted Hill House
00:35:05
is good. I love the show where we can
00:35:06
interact. Yeah, right.
00:35:08
It's it's cool. I like this, even though every
00:35:10
day we have to get through, like eventually, hopefully we don't
00:35:13
get like flooded with common. I mean, I kind of wish for that.
00:35:16
But like I I really like being able to respond to comments
00:35:19
because we have we have like enough like we have comments to
00:35:22
reply to and we can actually have take the time to do that.
00:35:24
That's really cool. Thanks for that.
00:35:26
Blanca Rochin shedded says it depends, Edwin depends on what
00:35:31
the family member did and whether forgiveness is for our
00:35:35
salvation and Peace of Mind or for other reasons.
00:35:40
That's very wise. That's very, very wise way to
00:35:43
put it to it's if it's for that, then it's, it's totally fine,
00:35:47
right. If it's going to help us and
00:35:49
help us find peace, then we should do that.
00:35:53
See that I'm, I'm getting more and more convinced with it with
00:35:55
this is totally fine. And a lot of us might be going
00:35:58
through something like that where it's like it might not be
00:36:01
necessarily a witchcraft thing that we're going through with
00:36:03
our family. But like, what if they're
00:36:05
hurting you in other ways? Like you don't can't, you
00:36:08
shouldn't feel obligated to, you know, to, to keep them a part of
00:36:12
you if, if you can help it. I don't know.
00:36:16
And Natalia says, thank you for this new podcast.
00:36:18
It is good. I am glad people are sharing the
00:36:19
stories. All should be shared.
00:36:21
I agree. You know what I actually think
00:36:23
that stories in general, if we don't share them and we take
00:36:28
them to the grave, just to put it as morbidly as I can, they
00:36:33
will die. The stories will die.
00:36:35
And the only reason why they carry on, they continue is
00:36:38
because we share them. Think of the stories that are
00:36:41
super, super old that we're still talking about this to this
00:36:43
day. It's because they were shared,
00:36:46
right? So we have to, we have to find a
00:36:47
way to show them. Genie Lewis says that when
00:36:50
you're back. Yeah.
00:36:51
Great episode. Love this community you've
00:36:52
built. I already dove into some wrecks
00:36:54
from the comments section. Solid stuff.
00:36:56
I believe this person, Genie let me see was talking about the the
00:37:03
movies, right? The movie recommendations and
00:37:06
shows and stuff. To answer your question, I did
00:37:09
like Midnight Mass. To be honest, I'd watch anything
00:37:11
Flanagan makes creates, and I'm totally in for a good slow burn,
00:37:16
especially when it's done right. When the unraveling part keeps
00:37:19
unraveling and the plot twists keep on twisting, they're
00:37:21
usually worth the wait. I love stories that just unravel
00:37:27
very slowly. I think those are my favorite
00:37:30
kinds of movies and stories. As you can tell, the stories
00:37:35
that I write are very I always try to slow them down And the
00:37:38
only reason why I speed them up or put an ending to them or make
00:37:42
them as dramatic as people and make them dramatic as those
00:37:46
people ask. They asked me for that.
00:37:50
As in they say I like your stories, but I wish they had an
00:37:53
ending or I like this, but it was not scary enough.
00:37:56
And I'm like, or, or they want a monster in it or they want a
00:37:59
creature from the woods in it or, and I'm like, yeah, we can
00:38:02
try that. And it is pretty.
00:38:04
It's it's eerie, but I always like like the idea of, well, you
00:38:08
don't know what's going to happen.
00:38:10
Like it's that bizarre what happened, that mystery that that
00:38:16
lingering kind of story. That's what I like.
00:38:17
But if you know other other styles like movies or or shows
00:38:23
that are kind of like that very slow burns, like what is that?
00:38:26
I'm the PrettyLittleThing that lives in the what is that that
00:38:31
show? I know some of you are
00:38:33
frustrated because you know what I'm talking about and I'm not
00:38:35
going to finish it because I just remembered.
00:38:38
Let me know what it is though still, if you if you if you know
00:38:43
and then let me see anything for Mooney says another great
00:38:47
episode. Can't wait till next Monday.
00:38:49
