[00:00:57] How many of you have been sleeping and have seen a strange figure standing by your bed? I know this is kind of a strange question to ask, but there are some very famous entities that people have seen throughout the years, actually throughout like history of these creatures, these entities that show up.

[00:01:14] And they seem strikingly familiar, like the same. Someone might have seen a figure in a certain continent way across the ocean and another group of people has also documented the exact same thing. Why? Who are they? But in this episode, we have something a little bit different. It's not going to be a discussion on shadow people, on these entities while you're sleeping, though we might get a little into that.

[00:01:40] It's going to be more about specific cases, things that you might have never heard about, even though I might have mentioned a couple. It's going to be about a couple of different things. One is cases, cases that have been heard of for a while in the news and books documented, like actually documented from people. And another is I'm going to be mentioning a case from a listener submitted story that brings something completely different, something that you might have heard of, you might have seen, but still not a lot of people are talking about.

[00:02:09] And it's these entities that arrive at night. You ready? My name is Edwin, and this is Paranormal Club. There is this very specific entity that seems to arrive at night that many people have talked about over the years. Actually, I remember hearing about, actually reading about this when I was like seven or eight years old.

[00:02:38] And it came from one of those like scholastic type magazines. I don't know if you ever watched them or whatever, read them. But it was a similar style, but it was all about ghosts, ghost haunting, stuff like that. And there was one illustration of this old lady. Now, remember, this is like a pencil kind of illustration. And it shows this old lady on top of somebody while they're sleeping. And they have like that sleeping cap and like a pajama.

[00:03:04] Not the lady, like the guy that was on the bed. It showed like this creepy, creepy old lady. And it said the old hag. Now, reading up on that while you're like a little kid and when you're kind of afraid of going to sleep, honestly, I don't know if you ever were afraid of that. But they explained that this entity had been seen around the world. That's the end of that scene, right? As in, I read about it, creeped me out, forgot all about it.

[00:03:32] Later on, when I'm more into like paranormal and reading up on this, I learned about sleep paralysis and all these figures that you see while you're sleeping. You might be conscious, you might be unconscious. You might be in between in that state where you're half awake, half asleep. But this thing approaches you, crawls on top of you and presses down on your chest. That's the old hag. Another common thing is the hat man.

[00:03:56] A strange figure that appears while you're sleeping kind of stands near your bed at the foot of your bed somewhere in the corner of your room. And it's this man with a hat and he's just standing there chilling like that's creepy, right? The thing is that these figures have been seen across the world, different continents in Asia, Australia, US, I mean the Americas and documented the exact same way. Why? Who are these things? Like what are these things? Who are those entities?

[00:04:26] Do they have something in common? Is it just our minds making these things up? Now, I know we've talked about this before, like shadow figures and all these things that come at night, right? But today we're going to talk about some cases like I promised in the very beginning. And these cases bring something additional. We're going to start off with one. It's actually not planned on my little outline that I have here, but it's about the witch. Now, there is a case that I have on a Spanish podcast, one that is called Terror Historia Reales,

[00:04:53] where we tell stories kind of like true scary story, but it's in Spanish. And this specific story talks about this woman that appears showing up to this other woman's like bedroom and she floats above you. Now, one common thing that I've heard of when people see these kinds of entities is that they come along with this like humming, deep buzzing sound. I imagine it's sounding something like this.

[00:05:24] Like that. That's terrifying. But that humming has also been described by several people when they're going through one of these sleep paralysis episodes. In this particular story, the woman tells us that the house kind of has this strange feel to it at night. Doorknobs rattling in the middle of the night. Somebody's trying to come in. And she sees this figure outside of the window from her bedroom that leads to the outside of the house is kind of passing by.

[00:05:51] The thing is, when she feels that entity and sees the shadow cast on the bed, like in the bedroom, from the window, from like the streetlights, she can't move. She can't scream. Can't do anything but move her eyes. And that's when the thing appears in front, like by the front door, by the door of the bedroom. And starts slowly walking up to this person. Suddenly, you see her floating. It's kind of like a trash bag. And it's been described like this by several people actually in that same house.

[00:06:21] And I've been in that house. And I'll tell you, I had an experience there that I had no idea that people had sent me to sleep in this room when it was known to be haunted. And I came out and I told them, hey, I just saw this thing. They're like, what room did you stay in? I'm like, that one. Oh. And then they told me the stories. I didn't get to see the witch, though. Thank goodness. But anyway, so one of the documented cases that we have here is from Kara and Sarah. It might have been Kara and Sarah.

[00:06:51] I don't know. Anyway, this comes from the mid-1970s. And it says, In a sunny mid-afternoon, two young sisters, Kara and Sarah, were playing with their dolls on their bunk beds. They suddenly realized that they were being watched by this opaque, black, two-dimensional silhouette. It was a man's head and shoulders leaning into their doorway. Now, it was broad daylight at the time. There was no, like, you know, dark shadows in that room or anything like that.

[00:07:20] but this shadow man lingered the memory of these two little girls you know when they saw this thing they still freaked out to this day there's actually a quote from them it says it was broad daylight and the shape was opaque black and seemed to be two-dimensional just like a shadow this was this came from cara i really don't remember what we did after that but i do remember telling our mom about it and she just thought we were being silly the memory is very real and i'm sure if i asked my

[00:07:45] sister about it today 30 years later she would describe it just as i did now a two-dimensional silhouette what that means is imagine like a piece of paper kind of thing it doesn't look real it looks like um like something flat like i mean a shadow is kind of flat right because it's against the background but if you imagine this like darker than black thing standing there and it's like a paper

[00:08:09] figure made out of paper like a paper cut out of somebody moving along that's what i want you to imagine like this thing that just absorbs all of light then there's another account here this is from margot davies and it comes from seattle in 2007 shortly after moving into a house near seattle in 2002 margot davies um the aunt actually of margot sends this unsettling presence remember 2002 then if

[00:09:55] at the thing it's kind of scattered away it just left the thing is that the living room was brightly lit why where was this shadow coming from why would you create a shadow like that if you have like for example right now right if you have a light looking at you you have a light looking this way it kind of kills a shadow like it it won't show up so what is this thing right it makes you think like it might

[00:10:22] be some kind of mass some kind of something physical that's moving around or something that's absorbing all the light who knows but that was really creepy anyway what she did is she moved she like went after it and uh she then she figured you know what this might be just my imagination i'm going to just be making this thing up there's nothing here thing was her cousin went to visit stayed in one of the rooms and mentioned something similar like hey i think there's something here like i saw this shadow

[00:10:51] and it just confirmed it for her there's something in that house and it still shows up every once in a while according to margot um supposedly now she just considers it an unwelcome guest and that's it i mean and you know what even when i take uh calls for for true scary story i get this message a lot like as in i get this while we're talking this like oh yeah like i still see them sometimes but like i don't think they're anything bad and they say it normally like as in yeah there's something roaming around the

[00:11:21] house but i mean what else can we do just kind of have to deal with it good on her i mean as long as she doesn't you know it is not bothering her or anything it's just kind of like something that's there that you don't really want there but what can you do this next case comes from australia and it's from louis proud and author louis proud is actually yeah he's an author um chronic sufferer of recurrent isolated sleep paralysis or risk now he has documented hundreds of encounters of these shadow figures

[00:11:50] shadow entities and um there's one highly interactive attack that he mentions where the shadow slithered into the end of his bed crushed his legs breathed warmly on his face now the entity then seemed to attach itself to his to his mind what violating his sense of self and spoke to him telepathically in his

[00:12:14] clear polite and almost robotic voice now he has also said that the shadows also take other distinct forms like translucent gray orbs dangerous dark leech like parasites now that brings us to this account that i received not too long ago actually and it comes from zach now zach is a listener of true scary

[00:12:40] story our podcast where people call in and tell their true paranormal encounters and zach told me probably one of the most bizarre stories of a vision or of a of an entity of a shadow figure of this entity that's in your room that i have ever heard as in it was super vivid it gave me chills while i was listening it's giving me chills now like thinking about what he saw and if and we also have some comments

[00:13:07] from people that heard the story and mentioned because i mentioned something in there uh an actual personal experience something like that and this is where i want to take you like this is where i want you to like really really dive in and visualize this because my question is going to be about these specific entities or things that stand out from the traditional old hag in the hat man so here's the thing i'm going to read straight from his transcript like what he actually said okay so this case comes from the true

[00:13:37] scary story caller Zachary or zach for short i'm gonna read straight from the transcript i remember hearing just like a stampede like a whole army coming up the steps the head of my bed faces the closet and where the head of my bed meets the corner there's a two-inch gap where i can see out of it i remember seeing this almost like a long centipede if you think of the rake it was spindly like that but

[00:14:05] it was long and had repeated arms and legs a lot of arms a lot of legs and it freaked me out i like bugs and stuff centipedes don't freak me out but this freaked me out against my bed there is this roll-up like desk where i have a screen on it and i turn to that tv and then i see a hand come over the screen and

[00:14:32] another one come over the other side and i can see the outline of the head i just close my eyes and i can't move my head anymore so i just kept them shut i remember it grabbing my arm which is another thing i'm told sleep paralysis even if it's a sleep paralysis demon they never touch you like they never grab you that's what i've always been told they cannot physically interact with you but what got

[00:14:55] me is that it started cycling through my family's voices it started with my dad and it said hey look at me and it would just say that and it would just cycle through their voices one by one i remember hearing my grandma my grandpa and that's what tipped me off that something was wrong downstairs is i heard their voice and then i realized they're dead what are they doing here by the way previously to this

[00:15:22] section he was telling uh me about how he had heard different voices from the outside of the room like downstairs you were just saying hey come here hey come down here hey come on zach come on down stuff like that but that's when he realized like he even heard his grandparents and his grandparents are dead so this thing was intent it wanted me to see its face so i kept struggling to keep my eyes

[00:15:49] closed even though they wanted to open eventually it stopped cycling through the voices right after it screamed at me and it screamed look at my face it was really loud and it was in my stepfather's voice then it started sounded like everybody was yelling at once for me to look at it then it stopped it turned and it sounded like my grandmother again and it said don't you want

[00:16:14] to be with me we can be with each other again you just have to look at my face you just have to look at me creepy i looked at it i remember saying i am protected by god or whatever entity is actually in charge of things you in the name of jesus you need to go back to hell or whatever dark corner of the world you came from i'm protected by the good lord whoever it is whatever he is called they said you need

[00:16:40] to leave you need to go back to hell or wherever you came from then it grabbed my head with its other hand goodness this is really intense and these hands they were skeletal like they weren't skeleton hands but they were long fingers like a foot long i remember that image of them coming down the screen it was like it was trying to scare me and to this day i think whatever it was it was after my soul it was purpose

[00:17:09] purposefully scaring me beforehand then i was terrified when i said what i said right after it grabbed my head and then i'm awake and i'm sitting up in bed and it's not like i woke up from sleeping i was i'm just kind of sitting there and it's the next day i was like there's missing time here something happened i don't know how i fell back asleep i don't know what happened all i know is that i was sitting up in bed when i came to then i immediately felt like i couldn't move see this this part really got me because the missing

[00:17:38] time thing i mean we can get into that topic eventually but there are some cases that are really eerie and i mean they can go everywhere from like a paranormal encounter like this to aliens and other kind of weird glitches in the matrix kind of cases so they're really eerie let me see and then it says i try to yell for my stepbrother because again i thought that he was in the next room and all i could do was rasp out his name no matter how my they wouldn't come out my vocal cords were

[00:18:08] constricting like i was trying to yell but it was just a whisper that's all i could muster it was weird in the moment where i was talking to the thing itself because i could speak looking back on it now and being like well that was really weird why could i talk to it but not yell for help i've told many people this story and asked them what this entity could possibly be i don't know if it's necessary what you would call it maybe a demon but i don't know if i should call it anything i don't

[00:18:36] know but i know what i saw it's very vivid and it still gives me the creeps and now i know that something follows me i mean that that really got me thinking about the the entities that people see at night because first off this one's different right we have combinations of something like a mimic which is an entity that can pretend to be something else whether the reason is to deceive you or whether it

[00:19:06] is actually the spirit of somebody else whether it's our mind projecting that those memories those voices familiar voices that we know it's still eerie to think about and then you have the centipede looking thing you know a creature with a bunch of arms like this thing's obviously trying to scare you right and you might be wondering just like i was too did zach like watch a lot of these these movies or

[00:19:31] a fan of a lot of these monster movies creatures um something that's very vivid that when he's sleeping he can see these the thing is when you are awake you're seeing these things your body's moving you're reacting and yet these things are there materializing it i mean it kind of goes out the window when you think like oh i was imagining it it's like yeah you were imagining but you were like interacting with it right and you might consider it like oh you know it's a mental thing it's it's a

[00:20:00] like there's all these skeptical theories out there and i'm like what if it isn't i mean sure it can be like it's possible but like what if it isn't and i think that's the part where we always get into a debate where we're like what if it what if it's actually something that we can't explain it's like we'll prove it it's like what do i have to prove it like why don't you prove it with something else like i don't know we always get into that debate um when we talk about this actually

[00:20:27] i got a question about if i believe in the paranormal uh when i'm listening to these cases and i'm like yeah i do i mean if you consider the paranormal being that we that there are things out there that we don't understand that we don't have the capacity the ability the sensory devices in our body to catch these things then yeah i believe it because there are things that might be happening we we're not aware right you like that theory of like a fish doesn't know that it lives in the water

[00:20:56] they just know like it just that's its world like it doesn't understand like the the killer hand or the killer lines that come in and fish you out and cook you in on a grill with a little bit of salt and pepper pescados and the alo is what my family calls it i think about i don't know i'm not hungry i probably i just hate dang fish actually sounds pretty good anyway uh it doesn't know right just

[00:21:25] like we might not know and and also the the whole monkey theory right we're like we might look at a monkey and see them like grabbing a stick and using as a tool like a hammer or something and we're like oh look at that they're able to do that what if aliens look at us and they're like we they see us launching a rocket out to the moon and they're like oh look look at them they're finally getting to the moon we don't know we don't know any of this stuff right this is why sometimes we rely on devices

[00:21:51] to catch certain sounds like evps electronic voice phenomena and communicate with ghosts that way you know it might it's possible i mean we don't know it's just kind of how things work let me see we have another another one of these cases right the crouch or croc croc uh this this story is from a cambodian refugee actually in the united states uh he was a 48 year old cambodian khmer uh refugee

[00:22:19] suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder experienced frequent sleep paralysis episodes knows no known locally as kamok sangat the ghost that pushes you down interesting little snippet here cool i i want to look into this uh he frequently saw a black shape move toward him and wrap around his body severely impeding his breathing in one specific encounter he was paralyzed by a fanged demon holding

[00:22:47] a nail-studded club he pushed down on his chest for several minutes now croc believed the crouch believed the entity was trying to steal his soul there's another description of those entities of these things that would appear at night and scare the heck out of you now in this case imagine a fanged demon holding a nail-studded club very specific now also take a note here he is suffering from post-traumatic stress

[00:23:15] syndrome or disorder syndrome right that stress disorder tells us something something he's seeing and it's actually turned out when i looked more into this this specific kind of story like the refugee stories people who have who were in areas where their war torn these are very very very bad things like you see the worst of humanity in those moments and i mean i've been to cambodia and i've seen

[00:23:44] some of these you know the genocide like the things like the khmer rouge museums and they are sad i mean i i have trouble like describing you know what that feeling is of seeing the worst of the worst things um relics of the worst of the worst things that human that human the human people human population are capable of doing to each other it's it's really weird and right now for example we see things on the news

[00:24:12] oh yeah the war killed so many people and we just think a knot of a number but we don't see their items you know the things that they had what remains of them the broken families we we don't see that it's all hidden and all these things like for example for example this other one uh neng kueh Hmong refugee in 1983 um also kind of had a similar thing right but um here's his account by the way

[00:24:40] 33 year old Hmong uh refugee named neng kueh woke paralyzed in his bed stressed and exhausted from working hard a dark shape then emerged from the corner of the room it climbed over his legs and exerted this heavy freezing weight across his entire body making him feel as though he was drowning he wasn't able to move or yell or ask for help for a very long period following the

[00:25:09] attack he looked for the help of a traditional shaman to perform a protective ritual which is a common remedy among men afflicted by these spirits really eerie and i'm glad uh actually from what i looked up that he actually did feel better after that um getting the the like a protective ritual you know things like that actually are very common too in a lot of cultures the places where i haven't actually

[00:25:37] heard a lot of these things is from the united states like in general you know because i mean you guys know about me like i'm mexican in i lived my whole life in the united states and my family has strong ties to this kind of like i don't know a one leap of a connection to to all these things right because they don't practice any of these things they don't we don't go get cleanses or anything but they're very familiar with it like it doesn't freak them out

[00:26:07] they're just like oh yeah they'll get a cleansing from from this thing and they hit you with leaves and stuff but you know in the actual like united states like what we know of is the united states and the culture that's still developing right now there's not a lot of this there's there's a lot in the native american culture um natives and people from you know immigrants that come to the united states and you know they keep some of their customs but not like in the traditional sense now where we're like

[00:26:33] oh yeah in the u.s they practice this it's not known as that but still it's like it's interesting to think how they a certain ritual can take these entities away and and how does that work why is the ritual aimed toward you as a person and then you don't see the shadow things anymore does that mean you're projecting that or does it mean like they're not going to come after you anymore interesting way

[00:26:57] to for me to that i i spent a lot of time thinking about this kind of thing um because it's not like i want to believe but i just see what's there and i'm like oh that makes sense or that doesn't make sense or what if this what if that um but anyway there's other case ingrid whittaker um canchen canchen junga 1989 i think that's a mountain um yeah um here's the short summary here it says

[00:27:24] unlike the malevolent and malevolent encounters typical of sleep paralysis ingrid whittaker's experience involved this benign external presence while suffering from a severe severe altitude headache in a tent at the kangchen junga base camp in 1989 she was visited by a two-dimensional Nepalese woman she manifested as a dark shadow and this entity acted as a nurturing presence soothingly

[00:27:49] placing a hand on ingrid's forehead and remaining in a tent to comfort her for three days i mean these shadow entities can be good according to this encounter this is why i'm trying to get out here have you seen anything else something that stands out from the traditional all this creepy thing approached has it been something else have you experienced anything in that state of mind when you're sleeping and this happens i don't know i think about that a lot uh because i'm gonna get to

[00:28:19] my experiences and then you tell me what you think thing is there were a couple of i i think i mentioned this once before i was in high school when i was like in high school age at the time and i was in my bedroom and i was looking i was sleeping actually with my face up towards the ceiling and suddenly i woke up and it was early in the in the night not early early but it wasn't

[00:28:43] like mid it wasn't like 3 a.m or anything it was like i would say 10 30 or 11 30 and i opened my eyes and the light there's a lamp on in my room and i see this tarantula looking thing it was a spider basically and it's coming down the ceiling it's the size of like a ceiling like fan and it's coming down

[00:29:11] and i see its eyes and its fangs and everything it's right there i freak out i roll out of bed as fast as i can roll out and i'm standing and i'm looking at it and it's coming down closer to where i was laying down and it's kind of turning hanging on its web or whatever and it's looking at me and i'm like whoa

[00:29:35] and i like back up like back up towards the front door towards the door of the bedroom and i go to the hallway and i'm like yelling i'm like wow what the heck did i just see my dad and my mom watching tv in the living room and i'm like and they're looking at me like it's that's being like are you okay and my dad is the first one to speak up and say like i think he's sleeping i think he's sleepwalking

[00:30:01] like he's sleepwalking and i'm like no no no i just and i felt so embarrassed to say what i had seen that i just kind of said like i saw this thing in the room but i don't know what it is and my dad was like okay let's go see my dad's always been like that right we go and he's like there's nothing here he opens a closet like the closet that was right next to the bed he starts digging through stuff and he finds a box and it had a lot of my old books like paranormal books ghost stories

[00:30:32] a lot of these things i i was i love that stuff as a kid and i kept a lot of those books my mom didn't like that i never liked any of that i mean like one time my mom threw away a like a snake um stuffed animal thing you know that you win at a fair i remember i wanted at not at knots or the la county fair the orange the oc county fair i think and she did not like that also she threw away one of my old

[00:30:57] chemical romance um the shirts because they had a skull like threw it out and i'm like yeah that thing was like 65 or something ridiculously high at that time i remember i was like uh it sucks but um but yeah like so she put that stuff in the box and put it in the closet um several things actually had happened around that closet um including i might get to them at one point i might have

[00:31:24] actually mentioned them already always talk about them but um lately um i started noticing this other thing this other weird phenomenon while i'm sleeping and it is these strange spidery looking blobs that float around the room sometimes crawl around those seat the walls or the ceiling and happens in a lot of places it's happened here where i'm staying now it's also happened actually in

[00:31:49] several places it's happened where like i wake up i see it and it's moving around and sometimes i do this like i swat at it i'm like what is that and i'm not scared at the moment i just see them i don't know what it is it creeps me out but like i don't know what it is and and the thing is i brought this up in an episode after zach's story in that episode and i got several comments of people talking about that

[00:32:17] i'm going through a couple of them um one of them comes from cassandra spence it says edwin yes i see weird shadow things and shapes while i'm falling asleep and in that awake asleep state they are definitely weird but i just remind myself that i am almost asleep lol that's exactly how i how i see it like i'm like all right i am half asleep i'm probably just imagining this thing i don't get scared

[00:32:47] i'm just like what is that and i'm like trying to open my eyes wide and like kind of beats do this and like see it and i can see it and it's there and i'm like okay oh well and it kind of like goes into the wall and disappears and i'm like am i crazy like what is this i don't know uh michon kelso says um uh or mccon michon probably kelso um let me know by the way um the centipede creature makes me

[00:33:14] think of this is from a comment on the story from zach centipede creature makes me think of ko the face stealer in avatar the last airbender if you aren't familiar with that you can only show emotion when you talk to it or it can steal your face uses very similar tactics that you described trying to get a reaction out of you that part of the story gave me goose flesh all over spooky it was spooky when

[00:34:04] for me the worst was this huge black tarantula crawling down the wall over my head there it is again that spider thing as big as a human big i sat up screaming i just had my son a couple of days before and i had just gotten home from the hospital one of those you never forget the others i believe i was walking i was waking but my eyes were closed seeing something not really there but i woke up

[00:34:28] swatting anyway lol see this is describing that same thing like what is this what is this thing that's happening are these spiders is it our minds it's kind of seeing these blobs these creatures and white spiders white bugs goodness no i get chills i get chills thinking about it really we do another comment here from uh elizabeth ram rammy ramey uh says uh so many spiders in between wake and sleep some

[00:34:58] big some smaller so clear yeah there it is so that's what i want to know are there any other kinds of entities other things that you've seen that are kind of like this like as in spiders bugs or something completely different another common thing that we haven't actually talked about all that much is

[00:35:23] the figure like the long tall man the tall figure so tall that it has to bend so it doesn't hit the ceiling really really really tall that's obviously that falls into the creepy eerie category but still have you seen anything like that or something as simple as these strange blob spiders centipedes bugs things in the room that are these dark shadows not necessarily creeping you out but like

[00:35:48] something that you see while you're in that half awake state what are they i know we've all kind of seen it when you look up in the sky and you see like little dots a little like what i see i imagine little caterpillars like little circles kind of twisting and moving around and everything so i'm gonna try to follow them with my eyes and i'm like oh i can actually kind of see them now um thanks to the light here but i try to like think what is this what are these things does

[00:36:18] something that's intelligently placed there or a thing or am this my mind completing the rest of it like i see this figure and i'm like oh there's a caterpillar like what what could they be i find it very fascinating to think about what else could be out there especially in that half awake half asleep

[00:37:35] and described exactly what you see i don't know the causes but you may want to look into it take care and stay safe um i replied i said oh yeah like this is what i've had i'm very interested in i'm finding out more about this but matisse replied with saying um look forward to hearing in one of your next podcasts what people said and what you may have learned it sure is a mystery it is it is a very
