Creepy little bearded creatures, giants so big they emptied out the oceans, and encounters with demons are only some of the accounts that the Spanish reported after arriving in the Americas. Through handwritten books that we still have a hold of today, we can dive a little deeper into the mysteries of what the Spanish called, "The New World."

were having dances or just in the settlements at night when

strength. So the thing could do a lot of

stuff. It could potentially hurt you.

And also it was known to be sometimes in the shape of a

male, sometimes female. You would see as a little woman,

little man, but it was tiny, tiny little bearded creature

that would roam around. People would say that they could

find this thing or they could sense that it was near because

her hair on their arms would stand up and also the hair on

their legs. This is how they could see it,

and it would only show up at night.

darkness has a lot to do with some of the creatures that get

what made it just violent. They would say that you could

tell that it was coming because a torch, like a fire would

appear outside of a door of one of the houses.

That means you were targeted. It would go into the house, it

would grab its victim, it would cut its chest open, it would

remove the organs, it would throw the intestines in the

fire, and then it would like heal the wounds.

So you would never know that like that thing happened, like

that completely gory scene happened.

of these creatures. Now, the the guy that that was

story. He was like, yeah, right.

But then the victims, they were like, oh, yeah.

And then they went and they show the scars of of this thing that

And to prove it, he steps out. Nothing happens to him.

according to the chronicles. Now imagine this is reaching

Europe now, like the stories of the new world.

These things are happening. And there's a very curious thing

conquistadores, they wanted to get to the New world and look

good because they wanted more money to keep, like funding the

explorations. Also, if they didn't find

giants of Ecuador, the legend. So it was said in the story that

the natives saw these giant Reed rafts.

They were coming in from like the ocean.

people don't look normal. As they get even closer, they

notice that these people are giants.

Like they're massive. They're saying that the average

size, like an average size human, like a man would only

reach up to its knee and that's it.

And it had huge eyes, the kind of like plates, like huge, huge

people would eat. So they would cast these giant

through every single one of them.

Also, it was said that they got water because you know, it's

there's no fresh water there. So they would dig wells like

they would get wells, but to dig through they would actually get

go through the rock. Like these are very strong

giants. They go through the rock and the

remains of those wells are still around.

Also the Spanish when they heard this stuff, they were like, did

this really happen? But then they saw like molars,

shin bones that were like just way too big to be from like a

regular human. That's what they believed it.

chronicler said the same thing about these giant bone remains

things, we notice that they talk a lot about pushing Christianity

on people that bad things, things that are really eerie and

scary are demons. One thing about the Spanish

though, by the way, because they had these beliefs, they were

terrified of witches, right? They were terrified of witches

and demons. Anything that had to do with the

devil, they were with the devil because they believed that,

right? Their, their religion was strong

in that sense. And I imagine the indigenous

people being like, I know what scares the Spanish that just

scare them. Tell them about the witches.

So they could probably like manipulate them like that,

right? I mean, I would do that like you

have people that are coming by like kind of messing up your

flow and everything. I would be like, you know, up in

the trees there's witches. So then the Spanish wouldn't go

role in messing up the reality as we're reading it now.
