A couple of years ago, Susana shared the story of her encounters with a strange flying creature that people in her town believed to be witches (brujas). I translated her transcript into English and I'm sharing it with you here. This is why Mexican ghost stories are really something else.Original stories here:First part: https://terrorhistoriasreales.com/episode/una-bruja-en-el-rancho-de-mis-abuelosSecond part (content warning): https://terrorhistoriasreales.com/episode/enamorado-de-un-fantasmaParanormalClub.com
00:00:00
So what am I most afraid of? That was a question that I
00:00:04
posted on YouTube, actually on a pole a while back.
00:00:07
And it's not sleep paralysis. It's actually witches.
00:00:14
And it's because I grew up with this kind of story.
00:00:16
But there was this caller from our other podcasts in Spanish,
00:00:20
the version of True Scary Story in Spanish, who's called in and
00:00:23
told me one of the most terrifying stories of a witch.
00:00:27
And this is the kind of thing that I'm talking about when I
00:00:29
say Mexican stories are scary, like really scary.
00:00:32
This is the kind of thing I'm talking about South.
00:00:34
Today you're going to find out why I'm afraid of Blue House.
00:00:37
You ready? My name is Edwin and this is
00:00:41
Paranormal Club. Before before we get started
00:00:49
with with today's episode, I just want to take a minute to
00:00:52
say thanks for all the positive comments that have been coming
00:00:54
in through our other podcast, Horror Story.
00:00:58
I recently published an episode called How governments disappear
00:01:01
Humans. And it was a tough one, a very
00:01:04
tough one to, to get through because during the research, I
00:01:07
was reading about all these atrocities done by governments
00:01:11
and, you know, people in power who are basically making it
00:01:15
legal to get rid of certain groups of people that they don't
00:01:19
want in their countries, in some cases going as far as genocide,
00:01:24
straight up killing them execution style.
00:01:28
It it it's a terrible thing. And some of these things are
00:01:31
recent, as in in 2017, there was a large event to this stuff is
00:01:37
happening, you know, Guatemala and, and happening in we see
00:01:42
this stuff in China and we see, we see it in a lot of places.
00:01:46
And it's now we're spotting the patterns in the United States
00:01:51
and in this time is against my people, my communities.
00:01:54
So I was, I was very happy to see the comments that are coming
00:02:01
in. That shows me that our community
00:02:02
is strong, that we know what's going on, we're aware of it, and
00:02:07
we are standing up. So I just want to say thanks for
00:02:11
that. I did get a few emails saying
00:02:14
that they were sending a positive e-mail.
00:02:15
They were telling me thanks because they were aware that I
00:02:19
might be getting a lot of hate online because of that.
00:02:23
And I appreciate that very, very much.
00:02:27
So far, we've been doing a good job in moderating the comments.
00:02:29
Like there's something I'm OK with, criticism I'm OK with, you
00:02:32
know, if you want to challenge something that we research that
00:02:35
we got wrong or something like that, I'm OK with that.
00:02:38
What I'm not OK is you to just say you're lying and not tell me
00:02:41
where the lie is because this is not just politics.
00:02:45
This is actual history. This stuff that's happening
00:02:49
happened and it's happening right now.
00:02:52
If you're new to this podcast, if you need to this this show,
00:02:54
this is not normally how we start.
00:02:57
Then again, what's happening right now is anything but
00:03:00
normal. So we're going to get started
00:03:03
with today's today's episode. I promised you a story about
00:03:07
Brujas witches and this story just a little background came in
00:03:12
for the podcast called Terroristorias Reales, which is
00:03:17
where people they call me, we have a conversation, we record
00:03:21
their story, then we edit it and submit it.
00:03:23
And similar to true scary story, except these are in Spanish.
00:03:28
And when I say that stories in in from Mexico about witches and
00:03:31
also that are scary. This is why like this is going
00:03:35
to tell you this kind of like an example, like a real example of
00:03:39
what I mean by that. So without further ado, without
00:03:42
further ado, without further ado, we're going to get started
00:03:48
with with today's episode. We have Susana's story
00:03:52
translated. So this is going to be her
00:03:54
actual transcript of the of the story.
00:03:56
She said she like our conversation, so it's going to
00:03:59
sound a little might sound a little quirky at times, but
00:04:02
because it wasn't typed, it was actually like said and spoken.
00:04:05
If you want to listen to the actual one, I'm going to listen.
00:04:07
I'm going to list the the episode so you can go check it
00:04:09
out and listen to it in Spanish directly from Susana heads up
00:04:15
and this and this story in the second part, I'll give you a
00:04:19
warning beforehand, but there is mention the actual, actual
00:04:23
descriptions of suicide. So if you're sensitive to that,
00:04:26
please take care. Again, I'll tell you a little
00:04:29
bit before so you know, but because it's the split into two
00:04:33
sections, but this is still pretty, pretty creepy.
00:04:36
So be warned about that part too.
00:04:40
Here we go. My story began when I was about
00:04:43
13 years old. That was in Mexico in a town
00:04:46
called Guerra Maro, but it took place on my grandparents ranch
00:04:51
at that time. I would stay there sometimes
00:04:53
with my grandparents because my parents live in the city.
00:04:56
We all live in the city, but we would go visit my grandparents
00:04:58
on my father's side and they lived on a small ranch nearby.
00:05:02
Well, there were no bathrooms, no toilets as we knew them,
00:05:06
nothing like that. We were poor, so we usually had
00:05:09
behind the houses out there in the ranches, what are called
00:05:12
Latrinas, something like that, she says.
00:05:15
They're built like little booths.
00:05:17
I remember they were like sacks or something around them to
00:05:20
block the view so nobody could see.
00:05:23
And they placed them far away so the stench wouldn't come near
00:05:25
the houses. But at night, we would only go
00:05:29
behind the houses because of the dogs or, well, other people who
00:05:32
might pass by and could see us. But also back then, there was a
00:05:37
cornfield behind my grandfather's house.
00:05:41
They are large land plots. And this milpa, the milpa is, is
00:05:44
a cornfield. The milpa was planted with
00:05:47
maize. I remember that the corn was
00:05:49
already in the later stage, not green anymore.
00:05:51
It was dry. They were beginning to harvest.
00:05:54
They were knocking down the corn stalks and many were still
00:05:58
upright. I stayed there at my
00:06:00
grandfather's house at night. I remember that particular day,
00:06:04
not someone who usually goes to the bathroom at night, but that
00:06:07
time I woke up because my cousin was awake.
00:06:10
I was around two or three in the morning.
00:06:12
My cousin was up and she began calling me and she said Susanna,
00:06:18
Susanna. My name is Maria, but she called
00:06:21
me Susanna. This is what they call sometimes
00:06:23
we have different names. Some of this is like a middle
00:06:26
name. So she woke me up and said go
00:06:30
with me to the bathroom. So we got up and went to the
00:06:32
back of the house because like I said, we didn't want to go all
00:06:35
the way to latrines, they were too far.
00:06:38
So we went behind the house and there we were, the two of us.
00:06:42
Then we did what we had to do and you were just sitting there.
00:06:46
I remember, she said. Do you see that light over
00:06:49
there? And the distance, the cornfield
00:06:53
between the stalks, there was a light like it was roaming from
00:06:58
one side to the other, right to left, left to right, and then
00:07:04
moving forward and back in front of us far away maybe I think
00:07:11
half a mile or so. And I said yes, I thought it was
00:07:14
someone spying on us. So I stood up, headed towards
00:07:18
where the light was. I started walking and my cousin,
00:07:21
what happened was she ran and went into the house.
00:07:25
The more I approached the light, it began to hold still, static,
00:07:30
unmoving. I thought it was someone and I
00:07:33
said I will tell my grandfather if someone was there.
00:07:36
I began to shout and everything, and that light turned off and I
00:07:42
thought, OK, everything's fine. But suddenly I saw a figure in
00:07:46
the distance that came toward me like it was, I don't know, like
00:07:49
flying, like a flying sack. And it came toward me, toward
00:07:53
where I was. So I was standing in front of it
00:07:56
and try to turn and run, but there were corn stalks thrown
00:08:01
across the furrows of the field. Stocks were knocked down.
00:08:04
And so I tripped over 1 and fell backwards into the dirt.
00:08:10
There I was lying there awake, and I remained motionless.
00:08:15
I mean, I didn't want to move because I got very scared.
00:08:19
I felt terror inside, like chills.
00:08:22
And then suddenly above me, I just think it was a few
00:08:26
centimeters away from me, when I saw what looked like a person's
00:08:31
face, but I can't describe it. It looked like an old woman, but
00:08:36
with a much more wrinkled face, very white, with white eyes,
00:08:41
like someone who was dried up. It almost passed right over me.
00:08:47
And then went back and hovered, sniffing around.
00:08:51
That's when I got frightened because at that moment my
00:08:54
grandmother came out. She came out with my cousin.
00:08:58
My grandma began to pray. She knelt.
00:09:01
And that thing, even to me, it wasn't like a person.
00:09:04
It looked like it looked like a person, but it wasn't because it
00:09:08
was flying and I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
00:09:11
It began to leave, but I remember that peculiar smell,
00:09:15
like cow manure and earth, and every time I smell that, I still
00:09:20
think about it. My grandmother was not someone
00:09:24
who believed much in spells or anything like that, but at that
00:09:27
moment, she knew how to help. I remember she began to pray.
00:09:32
She knelt and made the sign of the cross toward that figure,
00:09:35
and it left. It faded like a light and
00:09:38
retreated from where we were standing.
00:09:40
And that's it. And that's not the only time
00:09:43
I've seen what they call the witch or a person who does evil
00:09:46
things and can even fly and all that.
00:09:49
Another time I was with my grandmother and some cousins
00:09:52
from the city where I lived, going to my grandmother's ranch.
00:09:55
And that was at night. It was around six or seven in
00:09:58
the evening and it was already getting dark.
00:10:01
Back then, many fields had already been harvested.
00:10:04
They were all knocked down. There was almost no vegetation
00:10:07
at the sides because they were just fields, empty land with
00:10:10
nothing planted. And we were walking.
00:10:13
I remember that long road that looked pretty nice with the
00:10:15
moonlight, because the fields looked nice, flat and without
00:10:19
anything, and even the earth looked like it was shining a
00:10:23
bit. So we were walking and I
00:10:25
remember I was chatting with my cousins.
00:10:28
My grandmother was walking with my aunt.
00:10:30
Everything was calm and quiet because, well, nothing was
00:10:33
happening. And then suddenly above us there
00:10:38
was a noise like a sound, something passing over us and
00:10:43
then again behind us again, like that same noise just passing
00:10:50
right over us. And I thought maybe it was an
00:10:53
owl or a bull might be called big birds.
00:10:56
And when they fly, they make that noise because their wings
00:10:59
are wide. I thought it was that, but then
00:11:03
far off, we saw a weird red light.
00:11:10
I didn't pay much attention. I thought maybe it was a plane
00:11:13
or something. But again, we heard the swoop
00:11:16
noise passing again. And that's when my grandmother
00:11:19
said walk faster. Don't look to either side, don't
00:11:23
look up, just walk faster. She bent down and used one of
00:11:27
her shoelaces. She used to wear tennis shoes
00:11:30
and she what she did was tie the lace and she kept telling us
00:11:35
keep walking. She was going to join us after
00:11:37
we kept walking. So we waited for her a little
00:11:40
bit while she finished and then we walked faster.
00:11:43
I remember that long road, there was a side path with pine trees
00:11:47
on the pine trees on the left. I was walking in front and to
00:11:50
the left there was a path into the forest of Pines.
00:11:53
I remember it was very distinctive and I knew there
00:11:56
were Pines because the path was lined with nothing but those
00:11:59
trees. Among those Pines, I saw in the
00:12:03
air a figure seeming to jump because they don't use brooms or
00:12:08
anything like that. They jump in the air and they
00:12:12
wear black hoods. That much I know because that's
00:12:16
all I saw. I couldn't see hands or shoes or
00:12:19
anything, just a black hooded figure floating in the distance.
00:12:24
I remember I stared at it and my grandmother said don't look.
00:12:28
And she began tying knots in the lace, praying.
00:12:32
I don't know what she was saying exactly, but she started doing
00:12:34
all that and we were passing exactly where that figure was.
00:12:37
She tied a stronger knot and said, in the name of God, Amen.
00:12:42
And then she pulled it all strongly, like grabbing
00:12:45
something with force quick. At that moment, that figure that
00:12:49
had been jumping in the air fell to the ground because we saw it.
00:12:53
Like when something heavy falls on loose soil and kicks up dust.
00:12:58
That's what we saw and heard, a loud crack and then dust in the
00:13:02
air. Then my grandmother said let's
00:13:05
go quickly. She buried that knot.
00:13:07
It lays in the ground right where we had passed by that
00:13:10
thing, that person or witch and told us, come on, let's go.
00:13:13
When it unties, it's going to follow us.
00:13:17
So we walked away fast. We were all like, it's going to
00:13:21
follow us. None of us knew what was
00:13:23
happening. Well, obviously my cousins knew.
00:13:26
On the ranch there were many stories about witches and
00:13:29
spirits. But I didn't know what a witch
00:13:31
was, not really, until that happened.
00:13:34
And my grandmother told us that this person or this figure, this
00:13:38
witch, had been watching my cousin and me.
00:13:42
She said it had been following us.
00:13:44
But fortunately, nothing happened to my cousin or me, but
00:13:47
to one of my male cousins. Yeah, they took him and when he
00:13:53
returned, he was messed up. You see, my cousin used to go to
00:14:00
the ranch to look after animals, goats, cows.
00:14:03
They had many animals. In the mornings he would go to
00:14:05
the hills where there was more food.
00:14:07
So I remember well, that year this happened, and I remember
00:14:11
around the time that this happened, it was in the 90s when
00:14:13
he went to take the animals out to graze.
00:14:17
He always returned around 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon because
00:14:20
he left very early, like early in the morning and came back at
00:14:23
around 5 or 6. That day in particular, we were
00:14:27
with my parents, the whole family.
00:14:30
It was time for Easter because I remember they were preparing the
00:14:33
traditional feast, guarezma foods like fish, shrimp,
00:14:36
snoppales, a lot of typical Mexican food.
00:14:39
And we're all sitting together and time went by and my cousins
00:14:43
didn't show up. My cousin didn't show up.
00:14:45
He kept not showing up and they got late.
00:14:48
My 2 uncles and my dad and more cousins went to find him and
00:14:52
they thought perhaps he had gotten lost with the animals or
00:14:54
what not and they had to help even just to herd the animals.
00:14:59
So when they went out they were searching for him but couldn't
00:15:05
find him. When they got back they were
00:15:08
scared. They found only his lunch box,
00:15:11
untouched, hanging from a little tree, and his sweater.
00:15:16
They found pieces of his clothes scattered along the path and the
00:15:19
animals came back by themselves. My uncles and father were
00:15:23
frightened and brought his belongings back to us.
00:15:26
We were devastated. We all worried about what had
00:15:29
happened. My uncle went immediately to
00:15:31
contact the nearest police station.
00:15:33
It was in the city where I lived and the ranch was about half an
00:15:36
hour away. My uncle had to drive his truck
00:15:40
to get a policeman because he thought someone had possibly
00:15:42
done something to his son. But hours passed that night and
00:15:46
we didn't sleep. The next day everyone went
00:15:49
searching the hills. We didn't find anything,
00:15:52
absolutely nothing. And so that week passed.
00:15:58
Then around midweek my cousin returned from behind my
00:16:02
grandparents houses where there were many plots of land that
00:16:05
they had planted. He arrived literally walking but
00:16:09
he was like I don't know, distant?
00:16:12
Like, not crying or scared or worried, just blank.
00:16:16
He arrived as if you know how when someone just leaves her
00:16:18
mind, they're not really there. He arrived like that.
00:16:23
He wasn't completely naked. He still had his underwear on,
00:16:28
but he was very dirty. Like he smelled strongly of
00:16:31
chicken poop and he had feathers stuck in his hair, the armpits
00:16:36
all over his body. I remember it very clearly.
00:16:41
We all ran to him to hug him, to see what had happened and asked
00:16:44
him all these things. And he said why are you all
00:16:48
acting like that? Why am I like this?
00:16:51
What did you do to me? We said you weren't here, what
00:16:55
happened? Who took you?
00:16:59
What happened? And he said, no, I was here.
00:17:04
I was just back playing. He said he had won some marbles
00:17:09
and we started him. Like what?
00:17:11
After that he didn't react much better.
00:17:14
He became more, I don't know how to say it, blank.
00:17:19
Sometimes he would stare off into the distance, his gaze
00:17:23
lost, like he wasn't thinking about anything.
00:17:27
They say people say it must have been that same witch that
00:17:30
happened following my cousin and me who got him.
00:17:33
But as they say, I don't know what they mean by it didn't work
00:17:37
or he wasn't good for what it wanted.
00:17:41
Maybe my cousin didn't serve its purpose so it let him go.
00:17:44
But when they released them, they say that they no longer
00:17:48
remain quite sound of mind. They remain A bits I don't know
00:17:52
spaced out and he took a long time to recover.
00:17:57
I remember they started taking him to someone to help him speak
00:18:00
well because he spoke poorly. Days passed, and sometimes if
00:18:04
someone told them something, he would not respond.
00:18:08
Then days later he would say, Oh yes, I remember what you said.
00:18:12
And he would think I told you that a long time ago, and he
00:18:16
would say, no, you just asked me now.
00:18:19
Things like that, it framed all of us greatly because as I said,
00:18:23
I didn't believe much in these things, witches or anything.
00:18:27
But after that it became very real.
00:18:30
My grandmother said that whoever wanted him or me or my cousin,
00:18:34
the witch wanted a girl, a woman to make into its servant.
00:18:40
That's why my cousin came back covered in chicken feathers.
00:18:46
Isn't that? Isn't that creepy?
00:18:50
Now, these are like, family accounts, like witnesses, You
00:18:54
know, you have a grandparent telling you about this stuff.
00:18:57
You have cousins witnessing the same thing, man.
00:19:03
Oh, all right, so this next part is where we mentioned suicide.
00:19:08
And please take care of your listening to this part.
00:19:11
It's very dark. And the episode is also
00:19:14
available completely. You know, it's full.
00:19:15
It's it's there on the road is realist.
00:19:18
She continues her story, right. The most horrifying thing thing
00:19:25
I ever experienced in my life, something I remember with a lot
00:19:28
of pain is that sadly someone died because of it.
00:19:33
I was 17 years old. I had a friend, well, how can I
00:19:37
put it? He was someone who really
00:19:39
believed in ghosts, really believed in those things.
00:19:44
At that time, the song by Liberacion was coming out in a
00:19:47
morado, Don Phantasma. That's a song, and he would
00:19:52
always listen to it and everything.
00:19:53
He was in love with a ghost or something like that, and he
00:19:57
always, always would sing it. He'd be listening to that song
00:20:01
over and over, and I think he was deeply in love with the
00:20:04
girl. And this girl, well, she didn't
00:20:07
want him. He was very hurt, and in his
00:20:10
pain, I imagine he turned to all kinds of things, I think even
00:20:14
satanic things, because every time he slept or something, he
00:20:18
would wake up saying that someone was choking him.
00:20:22
That was the first time in my life I heard of La Manopeluda,
00:20:25
the hairy hand. And like I said, I didn't really
00:20:28
believe in that stuff because I didn't see it as real.
00:20:30
I was more skeptical about that. But I saw him doing all kinds of
00:20:34
strange things. He even said he had buried a
00:20:37
daughter in the cemetery, which is supposed to be part of some
00:20:40
kind of ritual, like baptizing a spiritual child.
00:20:45
I told him, look, don't play with those things.
00:20:48
Those things are bad. I don't know how bad it can get,
00:20:51
but I've always heard you shouldn't play with that stuff
00:20:53
because it's from the devil. That's what I had always heard,
00:20:59
but unfortunately he didn't listen.
00:21:02
He supposedly wanted to learn how to make the girl he loved
00:21:04
come back to him and I was always trying to talk send into
00:21:08
him like don't be dumb, there are other girls out there and
00:21:11
stuff like that. But he just didn't get it.
00:21:15
One time his sister was there and me, we were all friends and
00:21:18
this other guy and a girlfriend of ours were there too.
00:21:21
We're in this room, in his room, just chatting, like always, just
00:21:24
talking about normal stuff. And all of a sudden, it's like
00:21:28
his eyes rolled back. His eyes turned completely
00:21:32
white. And I was watching him.
00:21:34
And I started to think he was just messing with us, like doing
00:21:37
it on purpose to scare us. So I started yelling at him.
00:21:40
I said, Chewy, Chewy, what's wrong with you?
00:21:43
Don't play around. Don't play around with this.
00:21:47
His name is Jesus, but we called him Chewy.
00:21:51
His sister started laughing because she thought he was
00:21:53
joking around but I started getting really scared because he
00:21:56
started drooling this black stuff from his mouth, like
00:22:00
foaming black like he was spitting up rotten mud and I was
00:22:06
watching him like what's going on?
00:22:08
And I was so scared because I didn't know what to do.
00:22:10
I grabbed him by the shoulders and I remember slapping him.
00:22:13
I didn't know what else to do. I gave him 2 slaps and his eyes
00:22:17
came back and he looked straight at me.
00:22:20
I'll never forget that look. He looked at me as if to say,
00:22:25
why did you hit me? I just said, I'm sorry you
00:22:29
weren't responding. And he said La Mano Peluda was
00:22:34
choking me. He said thank you for slapping
00:22:38
me. She was choking me.
00:22:40
Didn't you see it? And I said, no, I didn't see
00:22:44
anything. I just saw you like that.
00:22:47
Then we told him everything that happened and how he looked, and
00:22:50
he asked us to help him, to help him get rid of it.
00:22:52
And I told him, you know what? I don't want to get involved in
00:22:55
this stuff. My parents were of a different
00:22:58
religion. They were raised differently
00:23:00
with other beliefs. And well, obviously that wasn't
00:23:02
part of our belief system. Supposedly, even though I didn't
00:23:06
really believe what was happening, like I was seeing it,
00:23:09
but I didn't want to believe it was happening.
00:23:11
I didn't know whether to help him or not.
00:23:14
And I kept thinking, what if I get in trouble with my mom or
00:23:16
something? I didn't want that.
00:23:19
I didn't want to get too involved.
00:23:21
But a lot of things kept happening.
00:23:23
Sometimes he would faint and fall to the ground and his eyes
00:23:27
would go white again. He would just collapse.
00:23:30
Other times we would revive him by putting alcohol on his neck
00:23:33
or forehead. Sometimes he would get these
00:23:36
weird laughing fits. He would laugh uncontrollably
00:23:39
and then cry saying his stomach hurt.
00:23:43
He would say my stomach hurts but I can't stop laughing.
00:23:47
And other times he would cry a lot, like a lot.
00:23:49
And we thought, well, even his mom started to think that he was
00:23:52
losing his mind. I don't know.
00:23:55
He started looking for help, I think maybe medical help.
00:23:58
They took him to doctors, gave him medication and all that, but
00:24:01
nothing helped. He worked at a mechanic shop.
00:24:05
Sometimes he would be there with him.
00:24:08
One time he was having a beer with some friends and we stopped
00:24:10
by to say hi at the shop. I remember there was a car there
00:24:13
with the hood open. My friend and I, we said our
00:24:16
goodbyes, me and his sister we left.
00:24:20
Everyone else left too except for him.
00:24:23
He stayed to close up the shop. That shop was closed to his
00:24:26
house since he didn't come home. I guess his mom started to
00:24:29
worry. She called us to ask if he was
00:24:32
with us and I told her no, that he hadn't shown up and I said he
00:24:36
was drinking, maybe with the guys.
00:24:39
She said with who and I named the people I saw him with.
00:24:43
Then I went to bed. The next day his mom called
00:24:46
again and said you haven't heard from him and I said don't tell
00:24:51
me he didn't come home. She said no.
00:24:55
So I said but he was at the shop with them.
00:24:59
I didn't know if they had all left.
00:25:02
Then I asked the other two guys and they said no.
00:25:05
He stayed behind at the shop to close up.
00:25:08
So I called his mom again. This time his brother answered,
00:25:13
another one of her sons. When he answered, I felt this
00:25:18
chill go through my body because a mom didn't answer.
00:25:23
What happened was that when she went to the shop to check on
00:25:26
him, she opened the door and unfortunately he was already
00:25:30
hanging from a tree, a noose around his neck.
00:25:36
And the music that was playing was that same song by Liberacion
00:25:41
in a Morado Tum Fantasma, and that means In Love with the
00:25:47
Ghost. I remember that song so clearly.
00:25:53
I don't like it. I've never liked hearing it
00:25:55
because when his mother described the scene where she
00:25:57
found her son, it was with so many terrible, gruesome details.
00:26:01
I don't know how someone can find a person who was hanging
00:26:04
themselves and be able to describe it like that.
00:26:06
But she said he was completely covered in mud.
00:26:09
I don't know how or where he would have gotten all that mud.
00:26:13
How could he? He had ended up in that
00:26:15
condition. She said that when she found
00:26:18
him, his tongue was hanging out, his eyes were bulging, but more
00:26:22
than that, he was covered head to toe in mud except for one
00:26:25
spot on his chest. And on that spot there was a
00:26:28
little hole. I didn't see it.
00:26:32
That's the exact description his mother gave.
00:26:35
And to this day, I still wonder what happened, whether it had
00:26:39
something to do with the things he was doing, something I was
00:26:42
playing with, something I never should have done.
00:26:46
A lot of times I'm grateful for the advice of others or for my
00:26:49
mom, who always said never get involved in that stuff because
00:26:52
that stuff is from the devil. She always said that's from the
00:26:56
devil, nothing else. And sadly, what happened to him
00:27:00
taught me even more not to mess with those things because it's
00:27:04
very bad. You get what I mean?
00:27:06
It's very bad to try and do something.
00:27:08
Maybe you're playing with something, watching movies.
00:27:10
And I swear every time I watch horror movies like that, I
00:27:13
remember him because I think that stuff is real.
00:27:17
You start playing around with evil things and of course
00:27:20
something bad is going to happen.
00:27:23
So yeah, that might have been the scariest thing I've ever
00:27:25
been through. It makes me think a lot about
00:27:28
evil, about the devil, about how we shouldn't tempt him with all
00:27:31
that stuff because he exists and he has powers, a lot of power
00:27:36
here on Earth. You start playing with those
00:27:38
powers, like saying I'll do this if you help me do that or
00:27:42
something like that. Then he's going to take your
00:27:43
word for it, even if he doesn't help you because, well, my
00:27:48
friend never got what he wanted. I don't know what his full story
00:27:51
was, what he promised or what he did wrong that made that happen
00:27:55
to him, but I'll tell you one thing.
00:27:58
That song by Liberacion got erased.
00:28:01
I don't want to hear it again because every time I heard it
00:28:04
back then, it was very popular. Cars, trucks would pass by
00:28:07
playing it. And every time I heard it, I
00:28:09
remember what had happened and it scared me.
00:28:13
That was the first time in my life I realized that something
00:28:16
like that could kill a person. That fear, that pain, that
00:28:20
anguish, the thought of how everything happened.
00:28:23
I Googled stuff about the demonic and it said that
00:28:25
sometimes mud appears, that supposedly it's a sign,
00:28:29
something to remind you that you're playing with filth.
00:28:35
In fact, that's how it makes you remember the things that
00:28:37
happened or you're going through something like that because
00:28:39
obviously you're dirtying your hands with something evil.
00:28:43
You're trying to force someone to do something they don't want
00:28:45
to do because obviously you can't play with someone's heart
00:28:50
or feelings. You get me?
00:28:52
It was strange the way they found him.
00:28:54
I don't know if that's what all suicides are like, because for
00:28:58
everyone else, for the police, for the forensics teams, for all
00:29:01
the reports, they classified it as suicide.
00:29:05
But for us, those who were his friends, those who saw how he
00:29:09
acted, for his mom, it was something else, something more
00:29:13
than suicide. It was pain that it was he was
00:29:15
carrying from all the evil things he had been doing.
00:29:19
These to say, sometimes he would be walking barefoot in the
00:29:22
street. He got really lost.
00:29:24
He drank a lot. Yeah.
00:29:25
People thought he was drunk or something, but I knew him well.
00:29:30
He didn't use any hard drugs. He was actually pretty clean in
00:29:33
that sense. Yeah, he would drink a beer, but
00:29:36
not to the point of acting like that.
00:29:38
His mom even said there were times he went to the bathroom,
00:29:41
though, and while still in bed, not to pee, but poop.
00:29:45
That made him say, what's going on?
00:29:48
By the time he sliced his own finger, it was on purpose and it
00:29:52
didn't hurt him. He had his finger sliced open.
00:29:55
Imagine that he was bleeding in everything and he would touch
00:29:58
his own finger and say, look, it doesn't hurt.
00:30:02
He told his mom it doesn't hurt. What's wrong with me?
00:30:06
It's things like that that make you think about the way she
00:30:08
found him, the way she described it.
00:30:11
Now he was for us. It was something evil, something
00:30:16
from the devil like they say. I never wanted to tell this
00:30:19
story before. Not even my kids know about this
00:30:21
story or anything. Because just hearing that song
00:30:24
and every time I hear it, I get chills all over again and
00:30:28
something you can't believe, but it's there.
00:30:31
And that's what I lived. You live through something that
00:30:34
makes you think this can't be from this world, that it can't
00:30:38
be happening, that it only happens in movies and scary
00:30:41
stories or in horror tales. So why am I living it?
00:30:48
You start thinking all kinds of things and you hear that music
00:30:51
again, and it brings everything back to your mind and to your
00:30:56
very soul. Do you see what I mean by these
00:31:03
stories? May may Jesus Chewy rest in
00:31:08
peace. It's this kind of thing where
00:31:14
you, you don't get this kind of thing in, in English, man Like
00:31:17
in, in stories like either in English.
00:31:22
This is why, you know, different cultures have different ways of
00:31:27
sharing stories. Like when you hear Korean,
00:31:30
Korean stories, they're very whatever I would call them, like
00:31:33
very they're very dark. They also use a lot of like very
00:31:36
ghostly elements in terms of like creepy imagery, like to
00:31:40
describe, for example, the wet ghosts, ghosts with wet hair and
00:31:43
wet clothes because of history, like like with the war,
00:31:50
drownings nearby areas, like these are those kinds of
00:31:54
stories. Different cultures have
00:31:56
different ways, right? But for Mexican stories, I feel
00:32:01
like there's no limit, right? And I feel like other cultures
00:32:04
too, like from India, China, like they're just, they're
00:32:14
equally dark or, or more so in certain ways.
00:32:19
But I bet you weren't expecting something like that.
00:32:23
Like this is, and this is something that that, you know,
00:32:27
people would gather around like in the in the front of the house
00:32:31
and the porch and, you know, by the street and late at night.
00:32:35
There's nothing else to do. You talk about all these things
00:32:37
and things that happen. Here's how I heard these
00:32:40
stories, like these kinds of stories for my family, my
00:32:44
cousins and everybody literally by sitting outside of a car,
00:32:49
maybe in the sand by the beach. And they're, they're terrifying.
00:32:54
They're, they're terrifying, sad, tragic.
00:32:57
But Cosana, thank you so much for for sharing the, that story
00:33:03
with all of us. And if you ever want to record
00:33:04
it in English, please let me know.
00:33:08
You know, let me know. But they can hear the full
00:33:11
story. There's two episodes for that
00:33:12
story. I'll link to them in the
00:33:13
description of this episode. It is comment time.
00:33:19
We actually have some ideas for our name that we can call
00:33:22
ourselves. Los Spookies apparently is the
00:33:26
top contender, but we're going to vote on it.
00:33:28
So I'm going to write down the the options.
00:33:30
If you don't see the poll right yet, like right now, it's
00:33:33
because there's still getting like putting it together.
00:33:35
I think with there's like two or three options right now.
00:33:37
But hopefully we can, we can come up with something.
00:33:40
It'd be super cool to decide. Now It's like, Oh yeah, our
00:33:42
founding community came up with his name.
00:33:45
So now we are those spookies. So we are whatever we want to
00:33:48
call ourselves. Like I really like the word crew
00:33:51
with it, but crewed by itself doesn't make it.
00:33:52
So the spooky crew actually does this sound too weird?
00:33:55
Is that too hard to say? The spooky sounds really cool
00:33:58
though. We'll we'll make a poll or make
00:34:03
a poll. Here we go.
00:34:05
When we talk this for with my last episode.
00:34:07
Wow, There's a lot of comments that we got on here.
00:34:10
We're gonna go through a few. Hopefully we can we can get
00:34:12
through most of these. We might go record speed.
00:34:14
Oh, it's it's just me replying that made it made it a long
00:34:17
list. Nyla says that is freaky and the
00:34:20
story's also creepy. Happy birthday.
00:34:24
Love your stories and listen to all your podcasts.
00:34:25
Yeah, it was my birthday last week.
00:34:27
Thanks so much for all the wishes on here.
00:34:29
That's awesome. It was awesome to see.
00:34:31
Thank you for that. Linds yell says or Lindsay yell
00:34:38
says the nose whistle so hard to listen to and that's this.
00:34:42
Sorry about that. I was really close to the mic
00:34:44
too, and I did it. I upped the gain a little bit
00:34:47
because it was it's just a hard balance to do.
00:34:50
Sorry about that, but I'll I'll fix it.
00:34:52
That's the nose nose whistle. I think it was.
00:34:55
I think it's the AC that does it too.
00:34:58
Any who, Kaylee, happy birthday, Edwin, thank you for doing what
00:35:01
you do. I hope you're blessed Corn
00:35:03
muchos masanos. Thank you.
00:35:05
Thank you, Kaylee. Hopefully, hopefully you'll live
00:35:07
till I'm like, I don't know, 100 and something maybe more.
00:35:11
I don't know, but thanks for that.
00:35:13
All right, then Garcia says happy birthday Edwin.
00:35:15
Love the episodes. I started listening to this
00:35:17
podcast all thanks to scary story podcast.
00:35:19
Your stories and episodes always send chills.
00:35:21
Keep it scary. Keep it scary.
00:35:23
Thanks so much for that, Ileana. There's a lot of stories on
00:35:27
there. I was looking through the
00:35:28
catalogs that we're translating them a lot.
00:35:31
A lot of episodes on there. I don't even know how many
00:35:34
stories cuz some episodes have multiple stories.
00:35:38
Wow, and he says I really like Los spookies Susta podcast
00:35:42
already has girlfriends. So I think this would be great.
00:35:44
Instead trying to listen to the Spanish episodes to help the no
00:35:47
Sabo kid. I am so proud of you.
00:35:50
Love all the podcasts. Salaam from your favorite Latina
00:35:52
Muslim from Central Texas. Thank you so much, Anne.
00:35:56
I really like those spookies. Like it's starting to starting
00:35:59
to OK, I'm starting to get used to it.
00:36:03
We'll see. I should have started this
00:36:04
episode with like, what's up spookies?
00:36:07
How would how would you even start that spooky?
00:36:15
Big Tech says happy birthday, Edwin.
00:36:17
Hope your day was awesome. Thank you so much for making
00:36:18
awesome podcasts. Definitely need merch with Keep
00:36:21
it Scary on it. What do you think?
00:36:22
What do you guys think of that? Thanks, Big Tech.
00:36:24
Yeah, keep it scary. That'd be super cool to have it.
00:36:27
I was thinking about doing something like that, like like
00:36:32
after that I read the car and I was like, we need to like a
00:36:34
shirt or something. But that makes that I like that.
00:36:38
I like that. Roxy says thank you for sharing
00:36:40
your personal story. Unfortunately, I don't
00:36:41
understand Spanish. So now I hope the wolf story
00:36:44
will appear in English too. Also, your previous stories are
00:36:46
not cringy or lame. They are everything, but I hope
00:36:48
you will keep it scary with scary Story podcast.
00:36:50
That is my absolute favorite and it's going down.
00:36:53
It's way scarier than any ghost. Yeah, thanks, Roxy.
00:36:57
There's, as I mentioned, like I've listened to the early
00:37:01
stories. They were very like I said, they
00:37:03
were cringy because it was like, I don't know what I was doing
00:37:06
too, Like I was just trying to trying to like show the world
00:37:09
stories, Like I was just trying to tell stories and that was way
00:37:15
more awkward than I am now, but it worked out.
00:37:20
So thanks a lot for that, though.
00:37:22
I appreciate that. Mama bear says happy birthday,
00:37:25
Edwin, hope you're you're it was a fantastic day.
00:37:27
Thank you. It was it was it was really
00:37:29
cool. It's really, really nice.
00:37:31
I'm a huge fan of hot pot. Like who knew?
00:37:33
Like, you know, Can you believe it took me 3635?
00:37:37
That was the one between there, I guess because at the time zone
00:37:40
where I am, I'm like a day ahead.
00:37:42
And can you took me that long to discover hot pot?
00:37:48
Actually, no, I discovered it earlier with Heidi Lau, but in
00:37:53
this other place, man, so good. Took me that long complete.
00:37:57
Can't believe it. Roshan says.
00:37:59
Happy birthday to the best podcaster on Spotify.
00:38:01
Woo, thank you. Thanks so much for that.
00:38:04
I appreciate that Roshan, thank you.
00:38:07
Adriana says, totally fangirling Right now.
00:38:09
My comment was read. Whoa, thanks Adriana.
00:38:15
And I'm reading this one too. Thanks so much for that.
00:38:18
It says I heard Amy's story on True Scary's story, and it had
00:38:21
me spooked then, but now knowing her whole story, it's even
00:38:24
scarier. Another great episode.
00:38:26
I'll be sending you some of my experiences soon.
00:38:28
I love those spookies. By the way, Bring out the polls.
00:38:30
Let's vote on it. All right, Let's do it.
00:38:32
Let's do it. Let's do it.
00:38:34
Thanks for that. By the way, Nina Simone says
00:38:37
happy birthday. Thank you.
00:38:41
OK. Happy late birthday.
00:38:42
I hope you had a great day. First of all, F Ice.
00:38:45
Second of all, I like little spookies.
00:38:47
I think that's the winner. Last day.
00:38:48
I don't think any of my family have messed with the paranormal,
00:38:51
but I do believe that some people naturally attracted.
00:38:54
That's that might be something we need to look into 'cause I
00:38:57
kind of believe that too. Some people just give you that
00:39:01
vibe. I feel anyway, it says as well
00:39:03
as some people have a natural, have natural powers.
00:39:06
Anytime I say or do anything slightly mean something
00:39:08
negative. Oh, hold on.
00:39:10
Anytime I say or do anything slightly mean something negative
00:39:14
happens to me right after. Call him a natural witch or
00:39:18
maybe it's just karma, but it never fails.
00:39:21
Karma always catches up. So thanks a lot Kay Aguilarum
00:39:29
Aguilarum Aguilarum 1986 says First off, happy birthday
00:39:33
everyone. I enjoy listening to your
00:39:34
podcast while I clean and cook and also about Amy's story.
00:39:37
It sound to me like the cat was her, was her familiar.
00:39:40
It's sort of a witch's protector.
00:39:42
So when she said the cat lady protects her daughter, it
00:39:46
instantly reminded me of a witch's familiar.
00:39:48
You know what? I hadn't, I hadn't looked at it
00:39:53
from that, that angle. I feel like I need to learn a
00:39:57
lot more about like witches and and the, I guess the symbolism
00:40:00
involved because. If you listen, didn't listen to
00:40:04
the previous episode, it's it's the one where I talk about Amy's
00:40:07
experiences, like when she first reached out to us and the things
00:40:10
that happened. I didn't think of that about the
00:40:14
cat because the cat was a reoccurring thing.
00:40:17
I don't even know if that made it to the final episode
00:40:19
actually, because I just overlooked it.
00:40:23
Wow. But anyway, thanks a lot.
00:40:26
Thanks a lot for the comment. Dougie later.
00:40:27
I'm 1986 Stephanie says I love your new show.
00:40:31
I love all your podcasts and I was so happy when I shared my
00:40:33
story with you for true scary story podcast.
00:40:35
And Stephanie, you're here on on paranormal club.
00:40:39
That's awesome. Thanks for sharing your story.
00:40:41
You know, I was looking through it earlier this morning.
00:40:45
Coincidentally, we were going through some of our, our like
00:40:49
our tasks and how we have them like halt when we get the
00:40:52
stories and we're sorting through them and like the
00:40:53
archiving them and doing all the stuff.
00:40:56
And I saw your name on there. I'm like something weird
00:40:59
happened there that I I had your your story out again.
00:41:05
I'm gonna figure out what happened because it's a
00:41:08
coincidence. I was happy to see this.
00:41:09
I remember. I remember your story.
00:41:12
Anyway, I have another story and would love to share it with your
00:41:14
Spanish podcast. Please complain us keep it scary
00:41:17
yes, please do share it. You know we need we need that.
00:41:20
That's all the comments by the way.
00:41:21
But we need stories for our the Rory Sores reales.
00:41:25
Like we need them. We keep starting and stopping
00:41:28
and starting and stopping. It's like up to that point where
00:41:32
like people are understandably kind of like pissed because we
00:41:38
get the stories, we get them, we have them.
00:41:40
We're like, hey, we need a few more so we can get this going
00:41:43
and then we run out of stories, but not because it's not the
00:41:47
people's fault. People have stories to share.
00:41:51
It's like my fault here and like I need to really start digging
00:41:56
like for people to share stories and not just because they, they
00:41:59
like I need them, right? Like we need people to want to
00:42:01
share the stories because those make them the best ones where
00:42:06
they can just say, I, I really want to tell this and they tell
00:42:08
it. But they also it helps when we
00:42:09
have people who already shared the stories to encourage those
00:42:14
to tell their own stories, right?
00:42:16
It's kind of how how we get started.
00:42:18
But really, I'm going to try a lot harder.
00:42:20
We're going to, we're going to get started.
00:42:21
We're going to keep it going. We already have, we have them on
00:42:23
the docket here. We have them ready.
00:42:25
There's just a matter of scheduling them and getting
00:42:28
more, more calls, more recordings.
00:42:30
Remember, if you have any comments, questions,
00:42:32
suggestions, ideas, please, please, please e-mail me.
00:42:34
I'm Edwin at scarystory.com. You can also find me on TikTok,
00:42:39
Facebook, and Instagram as Edwin Cove.
00:42:41
That's EDWINCOV. Thanks a lot for your DMS on
00:42:46
there. By the way.
00:42:47
It might take me a bit till I get to them, but but I do get to
00:42:50
everybody eventually, like I I do.
00:42:51
And I appreciate that we have that little issue now that was
00:42:54
just like, I need to get back to people.
00:42:56
But it's still manageable. It's still, it's still doable.
00:42:58
And I appreciate those, all those messages and emails and
00:43:00
stuff that that come through, as well as your comments and
00:43:03
reviews. So thank you so much.
00:43:05
Thank you so much. Yeah, I think that's all right.
00:43:09
Yeah, that's it. Anyway, I'll be pulling
00:43:12
everybody on what we should call ourselves on here.
00:43:14
So watch out for that poll question.
00:43:16
But yeah, that's all. Thank you so much for listening
00:43:19
or watching. Keep it scary everyone.
00:43:23
See you soon.
