After two family members passed away inside a home in Edinburg, Texas, one family began experiencing strange events they still can't explain. It included night terrors and a child screaming at something invisible in a dark hallway. But that wasn't all. There was a possible doppelgänger and an unsettling shadow figure. This true scary story explores the memories that have followed Anna into adulthood.

It feels like if I look into the windows above me, I'm going to see something standing behind me. A witness saw a towering figure vanish without a sound, and then years later a child pointed to that same doorway and described the same thing. In our second story, there's an entire family that begins experiencing strange encounters after two deaths in the same home. My name is Edwin, and here are Gabrielle's and Anna's truths. When I was a kid, I had cancer. And my friends think that because of how close I was to death, kind of like attached these entities to me. And I've always really been able to see them. I've been able to hear them. Back in 2021, I came home from college because of COVID. In my family, we have a pretty big number of people living in the house. So it's me, my mom, my dad, three brothers and a sister. So we were all home. My parents wanted me to have a private room to do my schoolwork where I wouldn't be bothered. So I utilize the dining room. So the way that the dining room is set up is we have a sliding door between the dining room and the kitchen. We also have two more basically doorways without doors. One leads into the hallway and one leads into the living room. So for my privacy, my parents put sheets around those to cover them. One day, I am at home in the dining room doing my schoolwork. I always like to put in my headphones and listen to music while I'm doing my schoolwork so I can block out all of the noise, especially since I'm right next to the kitchen in the living room. I was home alone with my sister and one of my brothers. While I'm sitting in the dining room, I am facing these two entry points. or I guess the three entry points. And in the entryway that leads to the hallway, I noticed that the sheet is seemingly like blowing in some sort of wind, but I can't really figure out what it is. There's no vent next to where it was. I didn't have a window open. It was probably mid-March, so we wouldn't have had any windows open anyway. So I was pretty confused, but I decided to let it go and continue doing my schoolwork. I look at the sheet and it blows forward and I see a pair of feet behind it. And I'm thinking, okay, cool. My brother is pulling a prank on me. And then the sheet falls back down and I can see the silhouette of a person. Like I can see I can see it very detailed, like the facial structure, the like the nose. I can see the mouth, whatever, whatever. And so I'm like, OK, I don't know who that is, but that's definitely a person. So I take my headphones out and I call to my brother and I'm like, OK, that's very funny, but I'm doing my schoolwork. I need you to leave me alone. It's important that the only reason I thought it was my brother and not my sister is because it was a very, very tall silhouette. It pretty much reached the top of the entryway. So way too tall to be my sister. I'm sitting there and I'm like, okay, cool. He's going to go away. So I put my headphones back in and then I noticed that the sheet blows forward and then it falls back. And the silhouette is gone. I'm pretty confused because, you know, if it was my brother running away, I would have seen his feet running, you know? Or like, you know, I would have seen him move past the sheet into the living room. Like, you know, when, when somebody runs it, it kind of generates a little gust of wind, but it was very fast. I didn't, see any movement. It was almost as if it just disappeared. I decided to go into the living room and confront my brother, I guess. When I walked in there, nobody was there. The TV was on. And then my sister came out of her bedroom. And she told me that she had been in her bedroom the whole time. And I was like, okay, so I mean, you're already crossed off my list. Where's our brother? And she tells me that our brother is outside mowing the lawn. And I look outside and there he is. He's outside mowing the lawn. You know, I try to rationalize it. I'm like, okay, well, maybe he came in for a minute and he ran out the house or something. But there were many reasons that that probably wasn't the case um I mean I I don't see how he could have gotten and like outside so quickly turned on the lawnmower and started mowing the lawn in the backyard but I mean I guess there's ways that he could do it but the second reason was my house is pretty old like you can kind of like hear like feel movement in the walls I guess in a way. So if you open the front door and then you close it, you can feel the door close, which I didn't. And you can also feel footsteps, like when somebody's running in the house or just when someone's walking with a heavy step. And I didn't feel any footsteps either. So I was just pretty confused and I was like, okay, I'm going to let it go. And I went back and I sat down into the dining room and put my headphones in and started doing my work again. And then I. Hear footsteps in I well I feel footsteps in the kitchen which I know is a weird sentence to say but um you know I felt them and I was thinking okay so my sister is in the kitchen I'm gonna ask her to get me a glass of water or something So I take my headphones out and I yell to my sister, hey, can you grab me a glass of water? And I didn't get a reply. So I said again, like, hey, did you hear me? And then I start hearing knocking on the sliding door between the kitchen and the dining room. And I'm like, why is she knocking? Like, just like she knows she can just open the door. And I yelled to her and I'm like, can you please stop knocking on the door? Like, if you want something, just come in here. And then I start hearing banging on the door to the point where it's like physically shaking. Like you can, you can see the door shaking. And at this point, I, I'm not even really scared. I'm just pretty mad that they are messing with me like this while I'm trying to do my work. So I get up and I open the door and there's nobody there. So I go back into the living room to find my sister again because I know it's not my brother this time. I know so it. Has to be my sister. But my sister is in her bedroom yet again. And I can tell that it really couldn't have been anybody simply because if one of them was banging on the door and quickly ran away for me to not see them, I would have heard their footsteps. I would have felt their footsteps. And the banging just disappeared way too quickly. I kind of tried to forget about it, and I went back to doing my work, and that was pretty much the last thing that had happened that day. I told my sister when it happened, because I don't really... think other people will believe me. I eventually did tell my mother because my mother has told me as well that she sees a tall figure that likes to wander between my bedroom and my niece's bedroom. I was living in an apartment in 2023. And I decided to sleep on the recliner out in our living room because we didn't have... any like fans or anything in my bedroom. So I slept in the living room with the balcony door open. And one night I was falling asleep. I I wake up and I know that I have sleep paralysis. At this point, I can tell pretty quickly when I have it. Usually, nothing too terrible happens when I have sleep paralysis. I just kind of hear things or see things. But this time, I could hear what sounded like an old woman behind me. she wasn't really saying anything she was mostly just like laughing and she continued to get closer to me and as she got closer to the back of my chair she put her hand on my chair she you know was just continuously laughing and she started running her hand through my hair She was kind of like walking around the recliner to the point where I would have seen her face to face. And as she's walking around me, I can feel her hand just going through my hair. And you know how when somebody's walking around you or something, you can hear them? them go from one side of you to the other side, if that makes sense. I can hear her footsteps, and I can feel her hand in my hair, and I can hear her walking around me. And right to the point where she puts her hand right next to my head, I immediately wake up. I can't explain it. But it was probably the most terrifying thing that I have ever experienced like that. It just, like when people say that it just, you can feel the evil of it, you know, I could feel it. And I could not go back to sleep that night. I had to go back into my room and sit with the lights on. I was just terrified, completely and utterly terrified. I was at home. Of course, me being the weird person I am, I decided to cook myself some food at 2 o'clock in the morning. And I'm standing out in the kitchen. Everyone else is asleep. When somebody walks in my dining room, you can hear it like the floor will creak. So I heard the floor creak. I look over. And I'm wondering maybe it's my dad coming out of his room to see what I'm doing. But when I go to check, it's not him because his door is closed. He's sleeping. My niece is sleeping. My brother's sleeping, whatever. I go back out into the kitchen and I start doing the dishes and I feel this wave of dread come over me. And I can't quite tell what it is, but it feels like if I look into the windows above me, I'm going to see something standing behind me. That feeling was so powerful. I. Could not look at any windows in my house because I knew that I would see it. I was actually so scared by this, this experience as well that, uh, I actually went and I sat in my brother's bedroom downstairs while he was playing video games. And I, I stayed there for an hour because I was too scared to go upstairs into the kitchen. He laughed it off. He thought I was crazy, but, um, I mean, I know when someone says something like, I can't explain it, that, you know, no one's going to believe it. But it truly was just so much fear, I guess. I would say fast forward to 2025, I guess. My oldest brother had a daughter and she was living with us. My niece, she has a lot of nightmares and she sleepwalks a lot. So one night she wanted to have a sleepover with me, so we decided to sleep in the living room. My living room has a wraparound couch that has two recliners attached to it. So she was sleeping in the recliner right next to the kitchen. And I was on the other end of the couch. While she's sleeping, I am on my laptop, of course, watching scary videos. So I'm already kind of freaked out. I decide to go into the kitchen and get myself a drink. And while I'm in there, She comes running into the kitchen and she's just screaming and she's hysterical, crying. And she's staring at one specific spot in the kitchen. And she's just pointing at it. She's screaming at it. And I'm like, okay, well, she's probably sleepwalking or having a nightmare. So I tried to lead her back into the living room and get her to lay down. But I... I can't calm her down. And it's very weird because she's never like this. Usually when she sleepwalks or has a nightmare, you can just lead her right back to bed and she'll lay down and she'll fall asleep quietly. She really did seem terrified. And she ran into my parents' room and she woke up my father. And I went into my parents' room to try to get my father to go back to bed. Like I I was like, okay, I could take care of this. But the way that she was so terrified made my father decide to come out into the kitchen with her. So she's holding my hand in my father's hand, and she's basically dragging us into the kitchen. And she brings us right to the spot where she was staring at a few moments ago. She's still screaming. She's crying. She's pointing. And she's telling my dad that he needs to make it go away. My dad is just very confused and he's like, okay, well, she's obviously having some sort of nightmare. So he brings her back into the living room. He sits her on his lap and he tries to calm her down. And while he's trying to calm her down, she's just staring at the same spot in the kitchen. No matter where she goes, she just still stares at that one spot. and she's pointing at it, and now she's screaming, it's scaring me, it's scaring me. Finally, she is able to fall asleep on my dad's lap, and my dad lays her down. She is eventually able to fall asleep, and then again, at another point in the night, she wakes up, and she takes one of her stuffed animals, and she brings it over to the recliner and she kind of puts it down and she smiles like she's looking at someone like she's giving someone the stuffed animal and then she goes and she lays down again and then she wakes up and she looks at the recliner and she starts kind of yelling like she's fighting with. Somebody and then she goes over and she pulls her stuffed animal away from the recliner, and she goes over and she lifts the recliner one more time and she yells at it. And then she goes to sleep. And that's it for the rest of the night. The next day, when she wakes up, I'm talking to my parents about it. And my dad brings up the fact that she... was making faces at the spot in the kitchen. Like she was trying to scare something away. And my mom decides to ask her, like, if she remembers any of it. And she said she does. And my mom said, what do you remember? She says she remembers there being a monster that was scaring her. And she wanted... my dad and I to make it go away. This is when I kind of, for some reason, think back to that time in the dining room. And I bring her over to the dining room and I say, hey, can you point out how tall this monster was? And she points up to me the entryway leading into the hallway. And she goes, he was as tall as that. Since then, I've been seeing shadows walking out of the dining room. I'll be sitting up at night and I will just feel something staring at me. I feel like I'm being followed, I guess. It's important, I guess, to note that I never really feel scared by them. It kind of just feels like they're more so curious, I guess. Some of my friends even say that they think that they're protecting me. I've been in a lot of car accidents where, you know, I should have been hurt a lot more than I was, and I get away with just a scratch. I actually have my own theory. Sometimes I feel like, as crazy as this might sound, that it's my grandfather. Because really, when all this started, there was one night after he died that I was sleeping and I was dreaming about him. And in the dream, he went to go rub his hand on my cheek. And at the exact moment that he touched my face in the dream, I woke up to the sensation of somebody's hand on my cheek. And I kind of just felt in that moment that it was him. And ever since then, I kind of just, I don't know, I guess my theory is that it's just him watching over me even after he died. This all happened at my childhood home in Edinburgh, Texas. We didn't really have anything going on until we had like the first step in the family. Cause my mom was the person to take care of that person, which was my uncle, Ricky. He was the typical uncle that was just shows up here and there. You don't really know about him, but like, and obviously was into drugs. He lived in Mexico. He always needed money. And he was just very into like the troublesome crowd. He only came to us because I think he had an altercation with one of his friends and he ended up in the hospital and obviously someone, they need someone to take care of him. So my mom being the second oldest brought him into the house and we just, we took care of him until his last day here. After that, it was kind of just, Things started to happen. Obviously having a death in the house brought a lot of negative energy. I guess me being young, I was more prone to witness stuff. The first one I would talk about is probably my night terrors. So I would just have these night terrors. For me personally, when I had them, it was just like a very extreme nightmare to the point Where, like, whatever emotion I was feeling in the dream, I was waking up to that emotion. But this one time, I thought it was just a normal night terror. It was just a normal nightmare. But my sister told me that apparently I woke up screaming in our room. Like, we were asleep together. And I woke up screaming. And then I just. run out of the room and go into like the dark hallway. And I was just pointing to at one of the walls saying, why is my mom there? Like, why is mom there? Why is she like, you know how Jesus is on the cross that like, that's how I kind of described it to her. And my sister being young as well, didn't know what to do. So she kind of just left me for a bit and went to get to my mom. And then I don't know what else. Happened after that. Cause I was so young. Also around that time, my sister said she was more scared to. Go out in the hallway to get me because apparently around that time, my older brother Steve was saying that at a certain time at night, he would hear like marbles. You know how they sound when they roll on the ground? Well, he would hear that like every night. And this was like after the death of my uncle in the house. So she was like scared because she was like, I don't want to witness that. But she also needed to help me because I was screaming in the hallway. The next two. Stories, I would just like people to know that at this age, I just loved playing in my mom's room for some odd reason. I just found my mom's room very comforting. So I would always like any chance I got, I always like would watch TV in her room or would just play with my toys, you know, typical kid stuff. But there was one time where I was playing in my room. In her room, actually. My mom comes in. She's like, oh, I'm going to use the bathroom. I'm like, okay. And I don't know what prompted me to decide, oh, I'll just go to the living room. But I did. So I was starting to walk to the living room. There's a certain point in the hallway where if you stand there, you can see. The opening of the living room, as well as part of the couch that's facing the TV. Well, when I got to that point, I saw my mom sitting there exactly in the same clothes she was wearing when I saw her in her room. I just had like this bad feeling, like a sense of like just something very bad. And I was very scared. So I. Kind of just ran back into her room. Thinking I was like, oh, maybe I'm just seeing things. So I run back into her room and she's coming out of the bathroom. And I was like, you've been in there all this time? She's like, yeah. And I'm like, oh, OK. So she goes back to. The kitchen and I kind of like take my time and walk back outside and I go and check in the living room and nothing's there. I really don't know what that was till this day, but like I legit saw her there and there's no way for her to kind of like secretly. Go to the living room without me knowing. Because it's legit that one hallway that everyone has to take to get to the living room, kitchen or the dining room. I still love playing in my mom's room. I think this one actually happened after my aunt's death. I remember I was playing in her room. I think it was like one of those days where it was just like very rainy and dark outside. So everyone wants to be inside. And I was playing in her room, just on the bed. And I had the door open just in case if she calls me or. Whatever, I can hear her. All of a sudden, I just get like, the sense of someone watching me. So I looked up and I looked by the doorway and from the crack of where you can see the hallway, I see like this, this dark shadow, like a. Silhouette of a man. He had like, I would say yellow glowing eyes. And at first I was like, oh, it's probably my dad or my brother, Steve, because they were the same height. So I was like, I was like, Dad, is that you? And it was like, no reply. So I was like, oh, it's probably my brother Steve pranking me because he loves to play pranks on me. So I was like, Steve, is that you? I was like, I don't like this. You know, you're really scaring me. Can you please stop? And when I said just I was like, just leave me alone. I don't like this. And once I said that, it kind of just shifted like if somebody was just walking away. So obviously, I was scared. I was like, I was more upset because I truly thought it was my brother. So I run into the room where he's at. And I was like telling him, I was like, I don't like that prank. You scared me like you really scared me. And him and my siblings look at me. They're like, what do you mean? We've been in this room this whole time. I was like, you were there. I was like, you were at the door trying to scare me looking like a ghost. And I was like, I just want to let you know it didn't work. But to this day, they tell me like that wasn't them. They're like, I don't know what you saw, but it wasn't me. I don't know what that was, but it did scare me. my uncle I don't know why but my mom said he always had he. Just really liked me like if he said if I could pick a favorite niece or nephew like I would be the the kid right So I would just like to think of it this way because I don't want to be like, oh, it was something bad in that house or whatever. But I think it was like him just kind of like watching me one more. Time before he decided to cross over because, and I only say this because my mom said one time she was cooking in the kitchen and where the stove is in that house, there's an entryway behind that. So you're kind of like facing your back against who's going to come in and out of the kitchen. But she said this happened as well once he passed away, that she was cooking and all of a sudden she felt that presence of being watched. But she said she didn't turn or anything. She just assumed it was her brother. So she was like, she was like, Ricky, she was like, I love you, but you need to leave. Like, you need to leave this house. She was like, you are not welcome. You need to cross over. And after she said that, she had None of that feeling at all. So that's why I think that it was my uncle. But at the same time, this house just had very bad energy with so much death. And then the negative energy that kept coming into this house because... Once my aunt died, my mom had to take care of her daughters. So obviously they were depressed and everyone kind of were like bumping heads into each other. Things like my like siblings and my mom saw because there was more like they also experienced some, but it's just more of getting together and talking about them. But like these are the three that really stuck with me. We moved to Michigan. I don't know why we moved here, but we moved and my mom sold it to our neighbors. Yeah, that's all I know about it. She just sold them to our neighbors. So far, I mean, they haven't told us anything about it. The deaths was because I was, I said, I don't know if I was five or six. It's kind of like now I think about it, it's like, It was all like very bunched up because in that period, it was like very traumatizing. But I knew about my aunt because she had cancer. You know, my mom told me about it. And I understood at a young age, like, oh, that happens because of my Uncle Ricky. My Uncle Ricky was very traumatizing because the way my mom said, like, oh, he's just staying here for a couple of days till he gets better. And I was like, OK, fine. And then one morning I wake up to like banging on my door and my. Mom screaming saying, someone needs to call 911, someone needs to call the cops or someone needs to stand by the driveway to let them know that this is the house. It was very traumatizing, I guess, because when she woke up to like get him ready for the day, he wasn't breathing or waking up. So obviously we had like. EMTs come in and they were like, I wasn't witnessing it, but I could hear everything of, like, clear and, like, all of that. And then, obviously, seeing my mom, like, sobbing, like, that's what, like, very stuck to me, you know? And then, also, when she left, she had to leave to go to the hospital with him. I kind of took a sneak peek because I was very, I was just a very curious kid. I was like, what happened in here, in the living room? And, like, I saw, like, the mess that happened after. So, I saw, like, um, his vomit that he did, because I'm assuming they tried CPR and just vomited out. And I saw everything just messy. And I was like, I don't think I should be seeing this. But that's how I knew about the dust. I just kind of was exposed to that at a very young age. It takes a toll. Thank you, Gabrielle and Anna, for sharing your experiences with us.
