Why I Don't Play With Spirits (Two Stories)

Why I Don't Play With Spirits (Two Stories)

It was replying to them with undeniable accuracy. There was a ghost with them in the room… or maybe something worse.
In these true scary stories, we’ll hear from Vanessa who retells her experience in joining a group of friends to use the ouija board. When that didn’t work, they turned to a ghost box (a spirit communication device), and they were able to contact the other side. Unfortunately for them, the session turned hostile.
In the second story, Kristy tells us about a childhood encounter in a remote house where someone, or something, was moving objects in the dark. It was until much later when Kristy and her cousins learned of the tragic reasons behind the occurrences.

Staying out louds and my friend like, okay, I'm done, like you need to be responded saying we're not done. Two stories tonight. First, here's what happens when you successfully establish a connection with the other side. And second, the consequences of mocking spirits. My name is Edwin, and here are Vanessa's and Christy's true scary stories. So this story takes place in twenty fourteen, twenty fifteen in my hometown of Elsmore. At the time, I was a senior in high school. I had made a friend senior year. We'll call her cc CEC and I. The way we became friends was because we both had taken the ASBAP test, which is the military test that you take in high school to place you somewhere in the military. CEC, you know, she came from a really rough upbringing. At the time, CEC was staying at her friend's house, Isabelle's house, with Isabelle's family. I remember hearing that Isabel's mom would play with Luigi board growing up. I like would hear about it through retellings from my own family. I wasn't like a stranger to the topic. I was pretty well aware of the risk and what came with it. One day, I was over at Isabelle's house because you know, my friends used to live there. Isabelle's parents decide to leave somewhere, so it's just us three girls at Isabelle's house. I don't know who suggested it, but one of us thought it would be fun to play with the meat boards. We set the mood. We like literally turned all the lights off, and we're like at the kitchen island and you could see the living room on the other side. It's like an open concept layout. I remember on the TV they had a movie on the screen, but it was paused. And this is important to note, but I just remember like the setting, like almost all the lights were off. I think we left maybe a little bit of under cabinet lights on and then it was just like the light from the TV that was like on, but it was paused. It wasn't playing anything. And I remember Isabelle, you know, being that her mom had played the way she bore before. I feel like she was kind of like she knew what to do. She took the lead, you know, I was going into it made a huge skeptic even after hearing stories from family members even then, I was just like, oh, you know, I won't believe it until I see it kind of thing. But I remember I think she might have even like offered it something beforehand, something too, like for safety. I don't remember if there was like a quarter, a coin or something. I just remember she did something beforehand, and we gave it a shot, you know, but it didn't work. And if anything Isabelle's family, they had cameras inside, so her mom caught on that we were trying to play the Luigi board, and she scared us by speaking into the camera, and we decide let's play the ghost box. At the time, I didn't know what this was, but what a ghost box is. It's pretty much like a radio station device, and you hit the scam button and the ghost box just slips through all these AM FM radio stations really fast, and most of it is just static, and it's going really really fast, but you could tell it's flipping for stations. It's kind of like a radio, but you don't really hear much because it's going so fast. I remember we're all at the kitchen island, and you know, we're trying to get a reaction because the Ouiji War didn't work, so we started going out around and asking questions. You know, we asked, is anybody here? Said yes. We asked it, what's your name? And it responded with cruise. I think we even asked it if it's a good spirit or a bad spirit, and it responded bad And at this point you would think we would have stopped playing and just turned it off, but we kept going. For whatever reason. Every time my friend Ceci tried asking it a question, it kept disrespecting her, like whatever we were talking to didn't like her. It kept insulting her. It was actually calling her like really derogatory made which was so weird because like we were just like what the heck and it was only her when every time she would try to ask it, you know, the ghost box, a question, it would respond with really bad names. And then again you would think we would stop playing by this time, but we still persisted. At some point, you know, I'm like, Okay, I don't know if this is true. I'm still a skeptic. Like I said, there was the TV on on the other side. The movie was paused, but I could read the title of the movie from where I was sitting, and I just remember saying, Okay, what's the name of the movie on the screen, and it literally started naming out the movie, like from the ghostbox, like the ghostwalk responded the name of the movie. And at that point I was a believer, and I remember just saying, yuh last my friends, like okay. I'm done it. Like he immediately responded saying, We're not dying. And at that point, the dogs started barking towards where the TV was. We stopped from there. We got so scared. We turned the light song Isabelle started saving the house. We all walked away like spoofed, like feeling like, oh my gosh, we were talking to somebody. After that experience, I went home and told my parents what had happened. I feel like I owed it to them because growing up, I was raised Catholic, and my parents they instilled in us at a very young age God and religion and all so not to mess with things like the Luigi board. Because my own father, my grandma, they both had like retellings of their own to tell about the paranormal. So I was no stranger to the topic walking into that experience. You know, I was young, and I had to learn that on my own because I also feared that I was going to bring something home just because you know, you hear stories about opening doors and welcoming spirits, so I felt like I would it to them. After that experience, I didn't want to bring anything home with me. The craziest thing is after that experience, I was having sleep paralysis for a week straight and I got to report where I literally thought, like a night is that or am I just traumatized. I don't remember each one, but I do remember one in particular, and it was like the most scariest thing I think I've ever experienced. The way my family's house is set up is there's one bedroom downstairs and two upstairs. So I was the only one sleeping downstairs at the time. I had taken over the bigger room downstairs. I remember laying in bed and in front of the bed is a TV on top of a tall dresser, and so if you're looking at the TV, it's reflecting the window behind my head, and I could see like they're the walkway to the front door. If I look at the TV, it reflects to the outside the walkway. I remember being in bed and I'm like falling asleep, but I wake up, and for whatever weird reason, I remember looking to see how much space was in between me and the edge of the bed because I wanted to make sure not to like roll over the bed or something. And I remember falling asleep after you know, that short moment where I just woke up, and all of a sudden, I felt something get in bed with me, and I just remember hearing like the bed squeak, like somebody had sat down next to me. And the craziest part is I remember somebody's body on my right hand side. I can literally feel like somebody was like getting into bed with me and almost kind of like scooting me over, like scoot over and just trying to squeeze into bed with me. And I remember being petrified. My first thought was, okay, like this is my mom. My mom going to get to bed with me because she was in that she's like finding with my dad or something. And then I fell like no, like somebody broke in. Somebody broke in, and I'm like freaking out. And mind you, I'm right handed and this person's to my right. So I'm like, if I have any if I have to like punch, I have to punch with my left so I can have you know, direction, and so I just remember I told myself, like I'm gonna count to three and I'm just gonna swing at whatever's next to me and hope that I could save myself from this situation. And I seriously thought somebody broke in because I could feel somebody's body like crushing up against mine. I could hear the best freaking like it was so crazy. I remember on the counter through. I remember just waking up and my hand is in the air like I'm like I swung and I'm now coherent, like I'm fully awake. And I looked to my right and there's nobody there, of course, like I would sleep with the lights off. I grew up, you know again hearing of all these scary story retelling. So I knew about paranormal stuff, and I remember checking the time. I want to say it was like two three in the morning, and I just freaked out. I ran up the stairs. I woke my mama, telling her what happened, you know, and of course she just chopped it on to nothing. He told me to go to bed, But I had some crazy experience after that. Even you know, I did kind of feel like for a while, like it's something like attached to me. My dad, you know, he told me from when he was young and he would play, and so he instilled in us from a young age not to play. And then his brother also you know, dabbled into that and it ended up getting attached to him, you know. And so my grandma actually had a had a priest come and bless him and you know, free him from this attachment that it had to my uncle. So I was definitely little trauma gized after, but you know that has since gone away. I haven't experienced anything since then. Like I said, I grew up religious, thank God, because you know, I'm a huge believer in God, and my grandma would always tell me about scary stories growing up, and so she was very adamant to my parents about putting us through Catechism and getting baptized and giving yourself to God. So I'm very thankful for that, and also for the experience because now I know better and I could tell my story and hopefully teach others to not mess with the paranormal because it's real and it's not to be messed with. This story happened when I was like seven to eight years old. I live in an island called San Pedro. I begged my mom for me to go there at the mainland Belize, in one of the districts are in Rock for this summer with my aunt Benny. She agreed and we went there, my sister and I. My aunt told me that my uncle is working at a ranch that's a private property right there at Belize, in one of the village called sun Hill. I agreed to go. My sister agreed to go, and my aunt and all her children agreed to go. We reached there, and then my aunt told me that right here is a little dark at night, so I should not go out. Said, okay, fine. The first few days I was we went swimming at a little black creek. I remember having loads of fun with my cousins. We skipped lunch and we didn't even get off the water to drink like water to hydrate ourselves. We just kept playing until the sun came down. Well, the eldest Eddie said all right, guys, it's time to go, and then so we left. This was I think three days into the week. We reached there and my Auntie Benny asked us, hey, did one of you come at a certain time during the afternoon to you know, go and mess with the office chairs are upstairs. We all looked at each other and we said, no, Auntie, why And then she's like, huh, I clearly heard someone playing with office chairs. I went up on was there at Taddy was one of you guys? My aunt is like, it must have been a ghost. And I went, you know what, Auntie, ghosts are stupid. You believe it not. I am a girl of science. I believe in science. I don't believe in those ghosts. My aunt said, or Christie, you gotta watch what you say. Ghosts don't like it when you curse them. I said, And what they're stupid, and what they're gonna do scare me, which is like, oh, you would see, you would see, you will definitely see. I was a child and I was so skeptical. Oh boy, I was so round after that. So I would take a shower and it was dinner time. I used to drink coffee. I used to drink coffee when I was like kid. I drunk three cups of coffee and my aunt told me, hey, hey, don't drink so much. You're gonna like wake up in midnight. And you're gonna be like restless, and I said, no, I don't think so. I'm used to drinking coffee. And she's like, mm hmmm, we'll see. So my cousins and I started playing board games and touch until it was time for us to go to bed. I remember I was the first one to drop asleep, and I think the rest followed after me. Our ound three thirty am, I woke up and I needed to use the restroom real bad. We were upstairs. The house has two badrooms, the one that's below in the garage area and the one above that's connected to the room that I'm using with some of my cousins. Eddie was right there. He had the key, So I went and I should Eddie, can I have the key? He just said, all right here and here's the flashlight. So I just opened the door and I walked inside. I walked inside and I was finishing my business, wiping my hands, like after I finished watching them, and I heard it the office chair moving, and as I said before, I'm real skeptical. I said it must be one of the twins playing a joke on me. So I went and I like opened the door really silently and I jumped and I went a huh, I caught you. And then the noise stopped, turned down the flashlight, and something told me to look down at my feet. I looked down on my feet and I saw like poddles of blood and I'm like, they're taking the prank so far. I was still skeptical at the time, but then my insturation told me to keep following the poddles. On the floor. Dear, my gosh, I'm I'm shivering. So I followed, Oh gosh, and I saw the haarfage shirt. In the middle of the living room. There was a man with holds and blood all over him. I was so scared. I slapped the door shot. I locked it from the inside, and then I went unlocked it from the other side of the bathroom and I jumped on the bed mat. I've never a jump so far before that. I jump over a queen size bed to get to the other bed, and I laid down and I started hugging my little sister's feet. And then I was shivering and I would close my eyes and I'm praying peace, please be please, no, no, no, no, no no. And then I look up and I see this blag shovel right at the foot of the bed, and I felt so scared that I stayed frozen for like a good few seconds before I close my eyes, covered myself with the blacket, and I started praying to God. I said, please gout, I see that this her, Please don't that's happened. I was preating real hard, and then I started hearing the dog's how It was like an ugly how and then I heard the howler monkeys start howling too, And then I remember to the previous night when my cousins told me that if I heard either one of those howl that means there's a bad spirit there. I waited till like four thirty when the sun was trying to rise, and I fell asleep. I woke up, I think three and a half hours later, around eight o'clock, and I walked outside. My Auntie was there. She got up early to make my uncle some breakfast before he had to go and do some stuff outside in the farm. My Auntie told me and she looked at me and she's went, hey, Christy, did you touch me phone to play this song? And I said, what song, Auntie? It's from artist called Love a Boy L O V. A B A w I lah blah boy tornado, and I said, no, I did not touch I did not touch your phone. She's like, that's so weird. I went to use the bedroom and I found it was locked, so I went to the back like in your rooms. I was there and then I heard and my phone's to the ring, and so I heard rush. I finished what I did, rushed out to see if it was like an incoming call from your mom or from your grandmom or your dad, or it was a message. But I opened that there's no message, no calls. I thought it was like the youngest because she likes to play the song. I went to check on her, but she's asleep and I'm seeing you away, so I'm taught it was you, and I said, no, Auntie, it was not me. It was definitely not me. I was scared because I've felt so much goosebumper. And then my Auntie was actchually me. She saw that I had like this look she's nervous before, like scared, and the blood ran off from her face. Then she's like, all right, I'll keep this a secret. When you feel comfortable, you could tell everybody what happened. And I said okay because I was ashamed. I was really ashamed because I was so skeptical. Then I ended up being scared, and then I asked my auntie this question that solidified my my fright. Antie, did we put the office chairs inside the hats? She's like, no, silly, remember we always keep it at the verandah outside. I know. I started shaking so hard. She's like, are you okay. I'm like no, I think I'm gonna be sick, and she's like, go lay down, And I went to sleep a little bit and woke up. During the day. I was still a little bit, you know, shaken, But then I tried my best to play it off cool, like, oh, yes, nothing happened to me. I'm this type of matchro type girl. Whatever. And we went to the creek again. So then I was so, my mind is still on this, and then I started hearing the holler monkeys how, and then I started getting scared. So then my cousin's like, you know what, guys, I don't really feel like I want to continue swimming. Then I said, yeah, me too, let's go. So then everybody packed up and left. We spent the rest of the day playing around the house and such, looking at the birds and the other type of animals around the private property, and I was enjoying myself. I totally completely forgot about that, and they went by. It was a day where a hurricane came. It was like a bad and thunderstorm and such. The electricity went off. Since it was a remote area, it was going to take a while for the electricity to come back on. So my Auntie lit up this candle and then I started being around it because it was a very apple sentence in one candle, and I loved those type of sen Something right there, and we're playing board games and we're having fun. Then all of a sudden, treat the rain we heard, like my uncle went down and he said, oh my gosh, maybe it's somebody right there. Let's go down, Eddie. So he and the eldest went downstairs, and for like five minutes we couldn't hear nothing because the rain was so loud. The wind was like trying to like cut off everybody's talking as such. And my uncle and my cousin Eddie came back up. My uncle was shaking, so I was my cousin Eddie, and he said, we looked all over the property. There is no one right there. So then we all looked at each other and we said, no, it is impossible. We clearly heard someone bang the door, so then we heard it again. So then all of us flooted out. We're shining the flashlights. I think I was the only one I said it, but I saw a canoe little of the luck in the river because it's situated in front of a river, floating and there's like people on it candoing down it. I'm like, and I told my uncle to you do you don't you see that there? My uncle's like standing the flash and they're like, no, what you see? I'm me seeing some people there, And he's like, no, girl, no, no, no, Maybe we're too sleepy, let's go back inside. So then I'm like, was I really sleepy? Maybe I imagine it? Maybe maybe three was night before is making me jumping and hallucinate things. And I said, you know what, maybe he's right, adults know best. I'm just that I still don't know a lot of things. So then I went inside. My aunt is like, you know what, this weather reminds me of the time the original owner died in his property. So then she's like Okay, got around. Let me tell you what happened, Because all of us were like, come on, Auntie, tell us what happened. She's like, all right, I got around everybody. There was a farmer. He had a bunch of animals, cow, sheeps, pigs, whatever you think of it, he has it. This house never used to be a two story It only used to be a one story house. The hill looked the same, except it did not have the concrete it did. It just had like a slope and it was like dirt road. So one night the waters rose and the farmer went out trying to rescue his animals. The next day people found him floating. He died by drowning. He and all his animals died drowning. And sudden I said, okay, well, that is a freaking dream. And then I said, okay, whatever, it's just a story, right man, and just said it happened. And I'm like, okay, cool, you did not just give me nightmares. So then I went to sleep that night I had a horror fying dream. I dreamt that I was standing at the top of the hill and I am clearly seeing a row of pigs sheeps. Every animal walked down in a like singular line from above the hill to down into the water, one by one, and then I looked beside me and I see this man. He turned and he said to me, huh, we're repeating this again, I guess, and then I read what After the last animal went in, he walked down silently into the water. My aunt shook me up because she said that all of a sudden, I started crying. I started crying, and then I told her what happened. She said, you know what, Uh, we don't right now gonna do this anymore. Nope, Nope, it's about time we go home. And so then she had us pack up all our clothes. I packed up everything, and I took a book with me. It was called a Gothic treasure trove with me because obviously it's a black book, so I didn't loosen it. It happening to me to make sure that everything I remembered happening in real life. And then I'm like, okay, maybe such. So then we went and I was still shaking. I think it was that summer. I got a nasty fever, like a really bad fever, and my Auntie had to take me to the hospital to get checked and I was there a fever for I think a false treatise, feverish in and out of consciousness, and didn't have any appetite. I was tossing up my food, couldn't even drink any water. Sitting up was a pain. I remember it because it was like really painful. I remember my Auntie really being really concerned over me. I don't know what she did one night. I think she came in, but I couldn't hear what she was saying. I think she was praying over me. I can't remember, because, as I said, everything was murky those days. Ill I remember was pain. Then the next day I woke up and I felt very hungry, and I think my health came back. But ever since that night, I started having freaky dreams, like dreams and such, and I tried to, you know, forget about it, but I can't. And what's even freakier is I feel like I unlock this freaky ability to sense danger like really quickly. Like if I see you, and I see you in person and I think you're a good person, I would be like, hello, hi, how are you? Or if I see you're a bad person, I will do my complete best to avoid you, avoid you, and never talk to you, never see you, never cross your way again. Because of that night, I've been invited multiple times to go back. You know, they say, you know, hey, there's a place they come pray all over here. The man took away all those objects I was there. It's okay, Like if I'm going there, I'm going through today and I'm leaving as soon as I see the sun starts set around tree, I'm leaving. It's been years and i haven't gotten back in that proper day again because I'm still scared. Growing up, it was definitely not my last time encountering such scary things. So I'm talking normally. It just sounds like I'm already used to this thing. Pray to God and read the Bible. That's I'll have to say, because that thing is still tripping to me. I'm shivering right now. I hope you guys enjoyed these stories about that first one with Vanessa. There was this game and I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. When I first got to college, it was back in two thousand and eight, two thousand and seven, where you would play this game. You would get in front of the computer. You would start. Typing like there was a little key in there that cause it was like a secret you would type it and then you would it would like read hello or deer something please tell me, like basically. You're communicating with the ghost or something like that. And I was freaked out when they were, you know, showing it to me, because it felt like it was guessing everything that was around. Of course, it was one of. Those early computer creepy games, I guess to free people out. But I guess it opened up the idea of communication with ghosts because I believed. It right, even though it was fake. However, well that taught me was how creepy it can be to actually establish a connection with something like the other side, whether that be through a Ouiji board, a ghost box, a spirit box, and some people may call it other methods for people to tap into something supernatural like that and the consequences of it, right, because I kind of opened up, like I always think of the paranormal this way. I think I've told you guys about it before, where just the fact that we believe in something and it opens up this idea is like we become more sensitive to it just because you know, we believe it. It's just you know, natural. So when I heard about you know, Vanessa story, and we were talking about this this thing where they were playing and the Wuiji board didn't work, so they went with something else. It showed their intent to try to communicate. Did something actually present itself? And have you ever played any creepy games like that? Have you ever tried to make contact with ghosts and spirits? Let me know? And about Christie's story, now, this also was interesting too because it came from Belieze from number one. First story that we get from there were cool. Also the scenery, like the way that she painted her story with you know, you're out in this ural area and you have these entities that are around there. And then also stories that title back into one thing. The tragedy that happened with the farmer is really sad. But another thing that made it really interesting here, and I don't know if you missed this part, was when her aunt said, ghosts don't like it when you insult them. Can a ghost be insulted by you not believing its existence? First off, I don't know how what you guys think about ghost existing or what ghosts are or like what we perceive them to be, right, But would a ghost be insulted be offended by you not believing in it? Because then we're kind of in a little you know, against the corner. Here, like what do they call it? Like a rock and a hard place. I don't know, I don't know what many many sayings, but like, could it be that if we believe, we get in trouble and if we don't, we also get in trouble or is it just not insulting or respecting that it might exist or not? That idea to me when I was first talking with Christy, which is that. What do we do? Then? Are we stuck in the middle here? Really really cool, really cool stories. I really hope you enjoyed them too, because to me they were like, I don't know, they really brought me out of what the normal you know thing that I saw a story, but more into like a world of someone else and the intent that people had when it came to ghost and supernatural. So really cool. We got a couple of comments in our last episodes, so we're gonna go through them. There's they're super short, but I appreciate these. So this one's from Natalia says this from the episode Dreams of the Dead Chilling Premonitions that came true. This one was told by Nikita and here we go. It says, Salia is so scary. I hope she meets a good person that has the same ability that can help or give tips on how to manage it. Yeah. I agree, you know what, even there had had a lot of sub stories in there, but it is sounds very tough to go through this also for I don't want to ruin the story. You haven't listened to it yet. But basically they make a really really big discovery through this ghost and it's a crime, a very serious crime how that happened. So ghost telling their stories from the other side for you to find out about them. It's one of those subjects that just makes the story real, you know. It just makes you. Think, like, whoa, how can you deny the existence here of something else out there? It's very interesting. BMC says Monsters among Us doesn't charge for his content. It's just not at free.
