Hey, creepy people. This is PNW Hans and Homicides. I'm Caitlin and I'm Cassie. Together we explore stories of the paranormal and true crime throughout the Pacific Northwest. For each episode, we do a Tarot reading to help us gain some insight on the topic as we share the facts of the case and our interpretations. You can find our episodes featuring true stories from infamous cases such as the Misdeeds of Boeing, as well as lesser known true crime cases like the murders in Tunnel thirteen, as well as our spooky stories from Pike Place and Raven's Manor on Apple, Podcasts, Spotify, and anywhere else you'd like to listen. Have you creepy? Yesday? Hi everyone. This is Christina and this is MJ. And this is another episode of A Spooky Tale's a podcast for all things as spooky. And we're dying today. We're tired. I haven't had enough coffee. I haven't I've had zero coffee. How are you alive? Oh? Yummy? Yum me? Okay, yeah. So it's like it was like, am I gonna have coffee? Am I gonna have a Chumplera? And I was like, tumple, I'll be tired, but it's fine. It's where it's it delicious. I haven't had any today. We are doing your ownA stories. I changed mine last time. Okay, okay, I guess yeah, yeah, I originally was going to do this long like our phone call that I found that it was like this creepy ass phone call from someone to like a radio station that was not surprisingly not that man. But then I couldn't understand her half the time because I sped it up to like one point seventy five speed. But then she was I guess she was already talking fast. She's like a fast talker, so when I sped it up that much, then I could not understand her. But then when I went back to the host, they talked too slow for me at the normal speed. So I don't want to keep switching back and forth. Oh so that's why I didn't do those notes. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I can't. Some people just talked, including myself. Some people just talked too slow for me. But you know what's funny. I came across this TikTok the other day that was like this weird ass gen z and this is like such a I feel like only white gen Z and millennials do this. But you know, when they started like making TikTok of it is about each other. Yeah, and they're both like so cringey because like nobody does any of that. But there was one of like this gen Z girl and you know how they all shake the camera when they're talking, and then they all have the same like speech patterns, and then they all like touch the top of their bangs when they're about to say something dramatic, and so she was like, I can't replicate that speech pattern. I don't know how to do it. But it's just like obnoxious and fast. It's so fast. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa, Like calm down, and that's the thing to them. It's like it's fast, but it's annoying fast. It's not like like I speed up all my podcasts and audiobooks to like one point five or one point seven five speed, and that's still fine to me. But whenever I saw that TikTok video, I was like, my god, please, why are you recording yourself? It's so fat? And my problem with that is like there they always call it the millennial pause, which we do and I understand, like we pot but it's like, dude, like half of the videos from gen Z I have to go back over and over again because the first part gets cut off. Yeah, well you know, and not even all of like not all of them, no, but like the majority of them do. There's some outliers. But she looked like she was dressed from hot topic, like you got that style from us, ma'am. Yeah, she was in like a millennial cosplay herself. And then I was like, we walked so you could run. Yeah, but also it's like they're trying to perform. I don't know, it was strange that just made it could be it could be a lot of things, but yeah, I've noticed that with them. I'm like, you guys can like relax, this is this is on the internet forever. Slow down, You're fine, You're fine. Whatever message you're gonna get out, it's fine. People are gonna listen. Relax, this is that drama class. You can like say it and people are gonna watch anyway. Yeah, exactly, that's what. And then like I I I do have like a slower speech pattern, but I'm like, I'm not gonna rush my speech or like rush to interject what I have to say, yeah, and then yeah, and then like with with us, I'm like Halfway'm like what does she say? Like she lost may train of thought. Man, I'm looking at this bright pattern on my wall now things. Yes, but yeah, I don't know how that started my bad anyway. Listener story, Yes, if you have a story that you want to send into the podcast, you can email uso gmail dot com. You can submit it on Discord. We have a channel that says sure your scary story. You can call our spooky hotline. The numbers in the show notes you Candy m us on any of our socials Instagram preferably. But yeah, there's a lot of options. There's a lot of options. So yeah, here is this listener story. And again my brain is just fried. I'm so tired, I'm so tired of life. Okay, so I'm just kidding sort of anyway, same, Okay, start crying right now. Would not recommend. So here's this listener story. I wanted to start off by saying I absolutely love your podcast and love the random side quests. I wanted to share a story about brucheia or so my experience with it. A next friend, let's call her Maria. Interesting name choice. Mm hmmm, that's all my das first names. My grandma didn't name any of her kids Madia, amazingly like like she has. We had like eight kids, right, Like three of them were girls and the w restaurant boys. But none of the three got a wow, And I was like, yeah, that's unheard of. This needs to be researched by science, like how did this happen? Yeah, so, yeah, that's interesting. Now none of your No, that's like weird. They're gonna get shunned by the community now, just kidding. Yeah, actually I'm gonna shun you right now. I'm not. No, I feel like that's a name that's not used anymore, like young kids now, I don't think there's any medias. Like when we were there was still a ton of Marias. Yeah, yeah, you're right, and there was even like a lot of Mary's. I had a few Mary's. I don't think I knew any Marys, just medias. I think I have said though, that I didn't meet a white kid my own age until we moved to Medestine to Downey. So yeah, because we went Yeah, we were in Oakland and yeah, just didn't exist. Okay, sorry, we did it again. That's uh. You know, what did we say? This episode was going to be a me in the beginning? Like yes, like listen, I have like sleep deprived. Christina is sleep deprived. The world's going to shit. Yeah, yeah, everything everything, And I'm sure lady our previous guest is listening. So I'm just gonna let her know I did not take my meds. Okay. So, and I'm raw dogging reality every day. I can't. Oh my god, almost spit out my coffee. All right, So I'm gonna start over at Let's call her Maria. Okay, an ex friend. Let's call her Maria. She was a high school friend at this point. She was living with her boyfriend and his family. At some point they broke up and she had nowhere else to go, so I let her stay with me and my husband while she got on her feet. At the moment, I was, oh, I see they're not at high school at the time, but she was a friend from high school. That makes more sense to me. Okay, that's better. Yeah, yeah, I was thinking they were in high school and this was taking place, So I'm like, I'm sorry about husband. She wasn't with her boyfriend? What is happening? What did you guys go to? That's funny, all right. So at the moment, I was working at a fast food restaurant and got her a job there and even the same shift since she didn't have a car. Anyways, fast forward a few weeks. The days that she didn't work since she was part time, she would just stay in her room. I had made dinner for my husband, left it in the microwave for when he got home from work. Well, this time, my husband was so fed up he called me at work angry, yelling at me, telling me why I didn't make him dinner, especially if I was home all morning and afternoon. That Maria isn't my wife? That you are? I guess she was making dinner for him. As he was getting home. I was like, what the fuck? I made dinner and I had left it in the microwave. I found out Maria was throwing the food away and making him dinner her. Oh no, who she is the assholes? Yes? Yes, that, oh no, Well I would be throwing hands like straight up like she would have been in the streets. Do you care what good of friends we were like, we about to throw hands. This is wild. Yeah, let me continue. There was no logical reason for her to be doing that. I let it go and told her if it continued, I will kick her out better than me because she would have been out. Yeah, she would have been out, Like, you don't get to disrespect me. Wild. Fast forward like another month or so, my husband asked his friend to stop by and check on the house since we were going to be gone all weekend. Maria I was going to be home, but just to make sure. We just wanted him to pass by and check. He ended up staying there and him and him and Maria ended up hooking up and actually getting together. Well, he also moved in. Oh no, what the fuck? Well, we figured, okay, having someone live with us to pay the rent would help us out a bit. This was the first time we would be living with another couple. Let's just say things got worse from there. Yeah. I think we could have seen that. Yeah. Yeah, we told him it wasn't working out and that they had to move out. However, with the moving now, my husband and I were still constantly fighting until I decided to go with this lady who is religious and has said God gave her the gift to help people. In other words, she was a kurandera type of person. Well, she read me the cards and told me someone was jealous of me and was negatively impacting my marriage. Uh yeah, fucking Maria. By the time we had gotten to see her, we had sold our house and we were living with my in laws. She had met a candle with herbs and stuff, and she just said, just stick it in the corner of your room or behind the door. I was skeptical, but I was like, okay. Well, randomly, one day I was taking a nap in the room and my husband was calling me to come and eat since I wasn't coming out. He said, babe, coming eat. As he opened the door, I sat out from the bed and said, she's not here. Oh and I had bright red hair and I laid back down. I have no memory of this, and he doesn't believe in the paranormal. So I freaked him out and he left and closed the door like that shit By honey, you're on your own. Can you imagine that calling someone They're like, she's not here. Oh no, I'll be like wait, I just like walk down, pretend I didn't see shit like, just turn around. Nope, nope, noping the hell out of that room. Oh man, I have no memory of this. And he thought I was messing with him at first, but then he realized that my hair color wasn't red. It was my natural color, dark brown, and I'm not the type to dyet bright colors. After a few weeks, I went back and took the candle with me. She removed the top layer and it was completely black on the inside. Ew, this candle was white. I even took some of it out just because I was curious. My eyes widened, and she said, no, I have to bury this and cleanse you. But that someone or something was attached to me and trying to separate my husband and I. Someone was that jealous of my marriage and relationship. Needless to say, after Maria and her man moved out, I never got in contact with them again. I wouldn't be surprised if Maria there's some brucheria to my husband's ex friend because they got married within a month of meeting each other. Oh stop it, Oh my god, no bad decisions right there. Mm hmm. She tried to reach out, but I blocked her and had no interest in having her in my life just some shit I don't fuck with. Needless to say, after a few encounters with the paranormal and this, I made sure to close my third as I was very sensitive to this. I attracted a lot of negativity. Negativity. M what did I even say? Oh my god, I attracted a lot of negativity and it was taking a toll on me. It runs to my family. My Tiaena always staid to use it for good, but all of my experiences have been bad. I hope you guys enjoyed my story with this drama and Bruchhetia all at once. Love you guys. That was crazy. Yeah, stay away from Maria. Yes, that's yeah, she was doing something. Yeah, one thousand percent. Her behavior is so weird. This is not one of the good Marias MM. I think the lesson here is that Marias can't be trusted except my mom and all my dias that I'll have. The name Maria is the first name that's funny anyway. Yeah, yes, I have a couple Urina stories. Should I do one and then you do the other, and then I finished with mine. I feel like mine is just it's a whole connect like it's technically one story in a way, but it's all connected. It's I mean, it's I don't even know how to explain. It's like multiple things things, but they're all connected. Okay. Yeah, So I don't know, like, oh, you know what mine are? Short? Should I do both of mine then? And then then we'll end with yours? Yeah, and then we'll do yes, Yes, let's do that because mine is okay. Yeah. So MJ you told me you had a yourna story. So instead of doing the notes I was going to do as I talked about earlier, I went and found two Urina stories. Oh nice, and they're not very long. One is from infra mund Yes you to me? Yes, it is from youtubes and this video is titled MASc and so yeah, three stories that were never told ABOUTA and so they're just stories people sent into infra Mundo. I can't nice. I need to stop saying it like that, but I can't anyway. So this was sent by Gabriela Arena, which doesn't sound like a real name to me, but we're just gonna go with it. I guess I've never I just never seen the last name Marenna. Yeah, I never have either yeah, maybe maybe it was like a nickname so to hide her identity. All right, So when I was a young girl, we always spent the end of November through December up to New Year's in my mom's pueblo in Mitua gan. Our family was there, and all the cousins were similar ages, starting at eight and up to a few of my older cousins that were teens. There was a whole bunch of us, almost like a little gang. H sounds so fun. I missed that, like I moved away from like family, so now I'm just like, yeah, yeah, my kids are not growing up with that like whole Like yeah, I hate yeah, but it sucks so hard we had to move. Yeah, I mean, like, I don't think any of us are in the same place anymore anyway, or if they, if there are family that is in the same place, nobody talks to each other anymore because of all the all the drama. Oh yeah that too, like so much drama, especially on the loss of Willows person and like tell them and then you go and see what they look like and you're like, yeah, I'm dying at this. TikTok. I saw that was like this is this is the ter renods that you're fighting for. But you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna say it right now, like land is precious that yeah, although some people just wanted to sell it and some people just like want it because that's where they grew up. You know, different reasons, but different reasons. Yeah, it's so tragic at the end, but the selfish reasons gotta go. Yeah for sure, for sure. Okay, let me go back to this. As we said today, it's gonna be a mess. Okay, so almost like a little king. There wasn't much for us to do but play, so that's all we did. We played outside all day, and the following took place during one of those moments of play during the day plain daytime. My cousins ran in the distance while another cousin and my uncle rested against a tree trying to get some shade. It was November, but it was still a little sunny with clouds in the sky. My uncle yelled from the tree he was leaning on, don't go too far. But of course I didn't listen, and because we were playing La ciscondidas hide and seek, and I needed to win. Every terrible scary story starts with we were playing hide and seek. Yeah, yeah, I don't know why it reminds you that story. I think you're the one who said it. I will never recover from that. You know what I'm talking about, right, is the one we shared on Patreon. I think so where it's like a she was like playing somewhere and somebody hold held her hand. Yes, yes, it was Mexico. They were playing hide and seek in the neighborhood and they went into like one of the abandoned houses or something like that, or even a neighbor's house, and like I think it was like the rooftop and he was hiding with this girl and like the attic or something or something like yeah, oh was it a basement? I don't remember, but it was some part of the house and it was like dark, like you couldn't see inside. It was super dark, yes, And then he thought one of his friends went with him, and like that she was holding his hand when they were hiding. And then he looks up and sees her down in the crowd because everyone else has been caught except for him, and so he's like, who was next to me? Who's actually let's take it out of side quest and since we're already here. My mom was telling me last last time she was here, I don't know, we always ended up talking about scaring things for some reason. But I'm here for it same. Yeah, I love it. So my well, her grandparents, so my great grandparents used to live in a vesin Dad. So it's like those apartments that I mean everyone, I think everyone that's like Latino knows what a vesina is, but everyone else may not. But it's like, uh, apartments that are together and there's like a center. It's like a community. It's like an apartment complex, but it's also at the same time a community. Yeah, it's a little different than apartment complexes here in the United States because they're like not they don't go up most of the time. They might be two stories, but they're longer than like then they are tall, you know. Yeah, and there's like a center courtyard usually. So they were in this vessin Dad, and my mom said that they had to pass by, like my grandparents were at the end of the vessin Dad and so whenever they visited, they you know, went to the gates and they had to walk to the bank, but they had to go past this house that they people would say that there was a lady that like would appear at that empty like room or house or whatever, because she passed away there apparently at some point, and so like nobody wanted to walk by it, and like they were playing hide and seek ones of course hide and seek, and well, actually, let me backtrack one a little bit. So yeah, they would go back and forth, and like my great grandma, she she had a moment, so she was kind of mean. There was times where like, if you know, a kid was getting on her nrves, she would tell them, like, you should leave now because it's getting late, but watch out for the lady at the apartment. And then she would make like ooh, so I just like scarer whoever she was talking to. So there was a time where they were playing hide and seek in these apartments and it was getting late, and I don't know why they were playing, but my I think it was one of my uncles. He it's always uncles. Yeah, I know what possessed him to do this, I don't know, but my uncle, for whatever reason, decided to hide next to the door where that apartment was that they said the lady appeared, and he was hiding and so everyone was like, whoever was? It was like looking for everyone. Right while he was hiding, he felt like someone touched his shoulder. Oh no, and he fainted on the spot and they they found him and grabbed him and welcome up whatever, and he said, like what happened? And bye, I feel like I think my mom's in. My great grandma was like, why are you even playing hide and Seek? They're like, you know that the lady is there, but yeah, something touch his shoulder. Oh and like nobody else was around, so yeah, I would not. The lesson here is don't play hide and seek, don't be curious. Yeah. Yeah. Welcome to our Hunted break. Okay, sorry, sorry for that side quest. So back to this hide and seek game. I ran as far as my little legs would take me. I knew none of my cousins were dared to go near the river because there were stories of Layrna appearing there, but it was daytime, so I didn't think it was scary. I ran straight to the trees right next to that river. I could hear my cousins counting and saying ready or not, here I come. I looked around, thinking I was going to win. That's when I spotted a woman in the river. She was crying. Her dress was dirty. She was saying something between her tears, but I didn't understand her. I yelled out, are you okay. That's when she went silent. She dragged her dirty fingertips against the rocks in the river and just stared. I froze and felt the most intense fear I had ever felt. She stood up and screamed and glided towards me. I don't know if that's a word, but I I feel like it is like floating out. Yeah, yeah, I could have sworn. I felt something grabbed my neck, but I couldn't see the woman anymore. I yelled my mom's name again and again. I thought I was going to die. Then I heard a familiar sound. My uncle's truck was speeding towards me. He was pressing on the horn as if he was trying to make all the sound in the world to scare something away. As the truck passed by me, my cousins pulled me up into the bed of the truck and I knew I was safe. When we got home. My uncle yelled at me for now listening. You shouldn't have gone that far. You know, Layrona has been seen there. Why did you do this? I think he saw her holding me. Oh no. He gave us a hot chocolate and fan and none of us ever got near that part of the river. Again. That is scary, right. Oh, I don't like any of it. That she felt her neck being grabbed, but she couldn't see her anymore. And then the uncle was just like honkying and yelling. Oh no, I like it, mm hmmm, all of it. It's terrible. Yeah, I would have. I would have fainted and died right there, like I'm like, what the hell is touching me? As I've said before, Mecaguay Memuiro, I truly have. Yeah, she had to my parts and passed out and died like okay. And then my next one is from Mundo Creepy. Oh I have not heard of that one. Oh yeah, Mundo Creepy is pretty good on YouTube. Yeah, and they I think they're probably on No, they might just be on YouTube, but it's it's titled Sincostorias Part four, and this yeah again our stories that are sent into the channel, So this one, this was sent by A Sophia Cruz. In nineteen eighty two, when I was eight, my family decided to move from my pueblo and Vera Cruz to Sudad, Mexico. I was very sad. It was a very hard move. We left my abulitos, my friends, everyone that I knew. But I really missed my Abuilita. I lost my appetite and I could not sleep. When I did sleep, I had terrible nightmares. I didn't tell my parents about any of this. They were stressed about the move too, and I didn't want to add to their stress. I began noticing these nightmares were all very similar. I was always alone in my polito, the streets were empty, and I was always looking for my grandma. It was this urgent need to find her. I'd call her name, she was nowhere to be seen, and I was being chased by something or someone, but I could never see them. All I could hear was a scream in the distance. Oh, it would get closer and closer, until it was so close I would wake up in tears. This went on for weeks. It felt endless. The weirdest part is that the dreams were similar, but I knew it was not the same dream repeating itself. It was more. Each night it was an extension of the last dream. The nightmare picked up where the last one left off. Oh that is not good, horrifying. It makes us all way worse. Yes, And the last night that this happened, it started off like it always did, only the night was darker and I was in the streets again calling for my grandma. This time, the screams were closer instead of starting farther away like always. Then something pulled me by my shoulder and I turned around. It was a woman bleeding from her eyes. She screamed in my face as I cried. That's when my mom opened my door, and she was crying uncontrollably. She told me that my grandmother had passed away. I feel like that thing was warning me like an omen hm. It reminded me of la. I don't think it was a coincidence. I truly believe that my Agualita would have lived longer if we had not moved. I miss her every day, and it's been thirty eight years. I never saw anything like that again, but I still wonder what it was that is sad. It's sad and horrifying. Oh my god, I do not like it. It's so much worse than everything, like the dreams. Knowing it's not because you know, like people have reoccurring nightmare like you're falling from the same place or your teeth are falling off and they're always the same, but this being like it's like the same night like a movie almost like every every night she goes to bed is another episode that continues from the previous one exactly exactly. That's horrifying. And yeah, then that thing finally reaching her, screaming in her face, and then she gets the news about her grandma, like, ugh, no, no, I hate it. Yeah no, that's like that's horrible. It's like double the traumatic. Poor poor girl. It's really sad. Okay, So, uh my, I don't know if it's like stories are more like I I guess legends mine, okay, more legend ish Okay. So Laa is tied to see and Donancin and is the snake woman goddess, and I have seen her interchangeably called Donancin, and also I have seen that sometimes Donancin is the title and not a specific deity, but like in the aspect of things like this whole thing, they're interchangeable. So see se and Donancin are just pretty much the same thing, just like okay, yeah, yeah, I've seen the same altered egos. Maybe I don't know. I don't know if that's like a thing or same name for different or different names for the same being. Yeah, kind of like how like uh a, Saturn and Kronos are the same things for the Greeks and the Romans. Yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, so I think that's how it is. So the story goes into a little bit the legends. I love it. Oh, I love this topic. So on top of the hill of tepe yakak or Tepeyak also Depeyak means hill, So when they say cedral or hill of Tepayak, they're saying hill hill. It's like it's like chai ti or like can stojo cassa house or la brea tarpits. It's like you're saying the same thing twice or more. Yeah, it's like, what do you say chai ti I means tea, it's t tire. That's what you're saying when you say Chai Ti, but it it's like it always makes me laugh from like you guys, it's just the same thing in two different languages. Yeah, so uh. Meshikas and other Nawah indigenous people believe that on top of Tepeyak Donancien, the mother of the gods, would appear, and on top of the hill of Tepeya Basilica, the Santa Marie Wallalupa now stands there. That was a mouthful And because Donancin Lorna Levit the wall Lupe are so intertwined with our origin, I included a story of Donancin and Levitan the Wall Lupe, which I think also ties into the omens brought by Lorna slash Donancin. Oh so, before the conquistadors colonized on top of the Biac there was a temple dedicated to Donancin and she was adored by tribes from the Anawak Empire. And this is all written down by Spanish friars, so it says the natives revered the goddess. According to testimony, she appeared to one of them as a young girl in a white robe and revealed secret things to the person Frijuan de Torque Mada in Monarchia, India, sixteen fifteen. So that was part of his diary. So there was there was already like this this story with the indigenous people of the area, that there was a woman in white, then she would appear to some of them. Uh. And so the Spanish did what they did and were like, that's a nice thing you got there. It would be a shame if somebody took it and they christianized Donancin. So the indigenous people would convert kind of like how they took saturn Alia, the holiday for the Roman god Saturn Coronos, and they were like, let's name it Christmas. But so here is how Donanzin or and a little bit. There's a few legends, so please guys bear with me. It's a little bit intertwined. The first one we'll cover is about my God, I have such a hard time of the Yeah, an aspect of and is associated with midwives and childbirths, and in this myth gives birth to the god of stars and hunting, but abandons him as a baby at a crossroad. She becomes Seawaka and haunts the crossroads, mourning for her son and sea was sometimes depicted as an old woman with the skullface, and this was because many women died a childbirths and they were given the same honor as warriors, and their spirits were depicted as having skeletal faces. It said that the spirits of the woman who died a childbirths called see what that they all also haunt crossroads. So I think that that's a little bit like of a maybe pre Hispanic legend where uh she cries for her son. Oh yeah yeah. And this this next myth is more aligned with the stories we hear about. So it's omen number six of the destruction of the Aztec Empire. It's it describes a woman who roams the streets crying for her children. She however, is crying for the future generation of her people, as her children will eventually be conquered and destroyed by the Spanish. This next story is another version of this omen, and before the arrival of the Spanish, a woman was heard crying in the Lake of Texcoco, saying, my beloved children of Anawak, your destruction is next. The priest thought it was Siwakuat who was prophesizing the destruction of the indigenous people of Mexico, and shortly after the colonization of the Mashika, the Spanish destroyed the temple of tonansin on Tepeyac. The cries and sorrows of the goddess were heard by the indigenous people when it was destroyed. When it was destroyed, they said that they could hear a woman crying and at the top of the hill like crying for her children, who were the indigenous people, you know, her people who who worshiped her, who she considered her children, and also crying for the destruction of their culture, their people, and the destruction of her temple. So a lot of coincidences with la you know, she cries for her children, she she will, she's she's heard with this sorrow, you know, this huge sorrow. And all these stories were believed to have been the origin of Lorna, which then the Spanish then vilified Si slash donansin our mother and portrayed her as a horrible mother who was you know, the made the murder of her children, when in reality they murder her children and that's why she cries. Yeah, as in her children being the entirety of the indigenous indigenous people and she's mourning for them. She's crying, she's saying, my children, But it's not because she killed them. It's because they were killed by the Spanish and colonization for them. Yeah, and which is also goes similar to the story that I uh I first told on here that I grew up with, which is like the the woman goes to market and then there's these soldiers in town, but when she comes back, she finds out that her children were murdered by the soldiers, and then she's so sad that she ends up taking her life and then she becomes thea not because she killed her children, because she's in mourning for the murders of her children that these soldiers did. Yeah. So that was I I never heard of this, And also the connection to how like, because I don't feel that we I don't think we talked about donuts, but she an episode that we did a while back, not our first episode might be like our second or third one. But I want to say that I talked about see what Wait, sorry, I don't remember if it was, but yeah, that was like the alleged apparition of La in the Spanish codexes. Yes, and they called her like a demon, yes, but yeah it's And then they took her her image and they made the vitan the Walla Lupe. Yes, yeah, which is like crazy. And I also found out that the Wallaalupe gets her name from a river in Spain called Guallalupe River. Oh and and they once found a statue, a dark skinned statue of the Virgin Mary. There. I didn't know about the statue. Yeah, so I didn't write this down, but I remember it. So they in in Spain, in this area called Wallalupe River. This farmer found this statue and it was the statue of the Virgin Mary. But she was dark skinned, right, So when the Concussadors came to the to the Americas, they were like, oh, look at their dark skinned too. This is going to be their their their vetin. So they so with Donancin and along with uh this deity, like this version of Mary that they found in Walla Lupe River in Spain, they were like, okay, so we're gonna name uh, We're gonna combine the two and give the people La Wallpe. And it worked. But she is like this this thing and and yeah, so that's where the name Juallalupe comes from which is from this uh statue that was found in Wallalup in Spain, and then they combined it with Donanceine and that's how they were able to Yeah, this is what you know colonizers do, is like merge existing beliefs into Christianity to get people to convert more easily easily, yes, yeah, which is all part of you know, genocide, to destroy someone's belief cures. And yeah, yeah, means I believe river of wolves so oh well that is Arabic for I think water. I could be wrong, but loope comes from the Latin word lupus, like wolf. Yes, oh my god, I did not know that. And there's so many words that are Arabic in origin when it comes to Spanish, and I think I don't think a lot of people realize that. Yeah, it's it's very Yeah, Spanish is very close to Arabic, very like almost like they say rice the same, they say a lot of stuff almost exactly the same. It's like the Spanish language is Latin mixed with Arabic. Yeah, cereal. Yeah, but wow, I yeah, I didn't know about the riven all that. So we're gonna get a lot of heated comments because they're gonna be like, no, not my veatan. Yeah, it's fine. We've already been dealing with heating comments the past week, so yeah, but yeah, when we've been dealing with heated comments, yeah, since since the beginning of our last episode, so since the beginning even before that. Like, I feel like I feel like we there's like some stuff that we say that people are like no, but I'm like, listen, listen. Yeah for all, I don't know what to tell you. This is this is this is what says. Yeah whatever, Well, anyway, do you have any speaky recommendations? I I am gonna watch what is that? Uh? It's on I believe to be It's called the Oh my god, it's a Japanese thriller. Oh the Audition. I'm gonna watch. Oh I haven't seen that. Okay, well let me know how it is. I will. I have not been watching anything, Yeah, I haven't. Yeah, that's the only thing that's on my what is it called my list? I've been off TV. It's it's been hard. This past two weeks have been hard. Yeah. Yeah, I don't have speaky recommendations, But you want to recommend a couple of podcast episodes from the Empire files for anyone that wants to further educate themselves on Palestine. So they have one let's see titled Gaza Refugee on the Gaza Genocide. The world gives us only body bags. So the host, Abbi Martin, speaks with Mohammed he was born and raised in Gaza. So that's one episode that's an excellent resource. The other one, Emergense Broadcast Israel's Hospital Massacre and the Gaza Genocide. That's from October seventeenth, the same podcast. Another one from the same podcast, Israeli Law comes to the US shocking legal saga to silence pro Palestine speech. This one from April fifth, twenty twenty one. Since then, wow, oh yeah, let me tell you so this episode I listened to it. There's so Abbi Martin. She interviews a Palestinian American activist. Her name is Suhi Oh my gosh, I can't pronounce it, Sue Heir, Sue Hier. I can't say her name. I listened, I saw how she said it, and I still I'm not saying it right. She interviews her because she had just one an important and shocking legal case, because there was an Israeli firm that tried to punish her under Israeli law for a Facebook post that she made. What and the Facebook post was just her I think they said something about a former idea of soldiers. They like posted her picture and said something about her being like a victim. And then the person that Abbi Martin interviewed like grab that and shared it and then wrote on top of it, this is an idea of soldier that did this and this and this. None of it was lies. It was all factual. And they tried to sue her, not based on California law but Israeli law for that post. How was that even legal? And this brings me to my next topic which they mentioned in this episode. But there is thirty seven states in the United States that business is specifically businesses, so it's not individuals, but it's illegal to boycott. I think it's businesses that get money from the state. I don't think it's like any kind of business. So if you're like a personal business, like a public business, you're fine, you could boycott whatever you want, But if you're getting money from the government or the state, you're not allowed. Like exactly, you cannot that. A lot of teachers have to sign a oath to Israel, which is like, what the f. Yeah, so that's what this episode touches on that because a lot of people think that they started on October seven, then it didn't. But that same podcast has episodes from like two years ago talking about this. There's another podcast called Truanon. They also have episodes in Palestine that are like old because this started in nineteen forty eight, Like this did not start on October seventh, So yeah, just different episodes. Oh another one sorry, This one is called Dose. This podcast Dozed with Abbi Martin, and this one is a she talks with a guy named Miko Paler. He's a son of a famous Israeli general, and he talks with her about the myths that Americans and Israelis are taught about Israel. And then they talk about settler attacks in Palestine. And this is from October twenty fifth, twenty twenty two. Oh my god. Yeah, So I'm gonna link all those in the show notes for anyone else that wants to like learn more. But you know, as we said last episode, we stand with Palestine and like, yeah, free Palestine, and I will keep including those other links we had in the show notes as well, and if that makes any former listener, because like we got a message that was like like y'ah two yeah, one was just like calling us stupid bitch it. I'm like okay, ma'am, I'm like whatever. But the other one was like long ass DM that we got. They were like, yeah, I've always been listening for the beginning, whether I agree or not with the stand you guys took on Israel or Palestine. I listened to get away from this kind of stuff, even for just a little bit. And so I can't keep listening because we because we spent too long talking about current affairs, because we talked about Palestine, we talked about the otto me in Mexico. But it's like, have you really been listening because we have always talked about this this kind of stuff. Yeah, and considering the fact that a lot of legends from Latin America stem from this kind of stuff, the fact that people have like this Pikachu phase or they're like what They're like, yeah, where have you been? Yeah? Where have you been? Like we literally had a whole month where we only did two crime cases that were like state sanctioned violence on women in Mexico. We don't need a patron funds to the seen and murdered indigenous women. We talked about like I mean, like when you've aaldi happened like everything. We have never not talked about this kind of stuff, and it's like, what a privilege to get away from this kind of stuff. We're gonna bring it up. We're gonna mention resources when we can. So yeah, like come on, we like literally talk about religiosi myths, that's them from colonization. We are both Mexican, im have Salvadoran and as we all know, both these places have been colonized. Both of here still from oppression. They're still you know, like come on, get out of here. And also you don't have to announce your departures. This isn't an airport. Yeah, I don't understand. I never understood that. It's like, yeah, if you don't agree, if you're tired of it, listen to other podcasts. But we have it's not a big it's not a big platform, it's not a huge audience, but we're gonna share what we can do what we can. So yeah, that is all. I have anything else to add before we go, No, I just I don't know, just hoping you guys are everyone's okay. I guess because I've been having a hard time and I just hope everyone's okay. Just a little sending a little love out there. Yes, yes, much needed, much needed for sure. And yeah, I don't know if you if you haven't told that Leona hangs out by this river, don't go to that river, I know, like, don't even just put yourself in that situation.
